- Jackie Pettyjohn has worked as a train engineer on the night shift for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) for more than 30 years. After responding to a job listing in the Philadelphia Inquirer in 1984,, Jackie then became the first female engineer.
I actually met Miss Jackie today. Very sweet & kind woman. All the best to her & her family 🤎.
She needs to start recording doing voice over work or audiobooks she has a relaxing voice.
Thank you for your outstanding service Ms. Jackie

She seems like such a nice lady
I want to be an Amtrak train engineer
Me too! Have you applied or are you working for them now?
Both of you go to rrb.gov it’s the railroad retirement board and click on careers…it lists all railroads in the USA and has links to their websites…
I’m retired Metro North Railroad myself…good luck
Best way in is to start as a Conductor…
Salute ❤ somthing about the rhythm of a train

haha *engineer from train 41/69 that makes all stops via bergen at 12:41AM and makes it to port jervis at 3:15AM*
edit: actually this is a pretty hard job and doing it this late wow im actually very proud of her
Great lady - play that Hammond, too!
Well my late father had a night shift in Brooklyn and came home at sunrise from the 1950s til the 1980s. By the way your appropriate title should be motorwoman as we would call a man in your position a motorman on a subway train, trolley, electric commuter train or an electric locomotive. 😊
You re alright with me Jackie I like women train drivers
I know I got to like that
I'm surprised that Ms Jackie didn't get captured by any sexist or rapist.
