I disagree. Liam looks great. Zac has had so much done it's impossible to say what was done - he had his nose done multiple times and jaw done once with a huge implant. That's the difference - Liam looks great with only a few nose jobs/shaves like me and a new jaw, Zac looks strange due to too many surgeries plus fat transfers. I think people should stop talking about fillers - any person with means will not resort to a filler.

The Jaw implant is clearly to large for his face. I also don’t think he had lip filler but the jaw implant has caused his bottom lip to look like he has a slight underbite.

I was a Directioner as a teenager and I was shocked seeing Liam’s new face. I always liked his baby face, it made him look youthful and handsome. I think he probably felt pressure to look older and let go of his past 1D image
but he didnt have a baby face though, idk it seems to me like he had a pretty sharp jawline going on (when he wasnt a bit chubbier) and his face overrall was pretty harmonious and impressively handsome.

I think the trend we're seeing for both men and women is not necessarily to look more beautiful but to have a specific look or to make an impact with your looks. On one hand, I think that plastic surgery should be used to make you look like the best version of yourself, rather than to make you look like someone else and it's sad to see people looking like a completely different person. On the other hand, I do think that this is a first step to people accepting a wider range of beauty traits

Despite them probably being custom implants, they’re way too big for his face. I think Tom Cruise is the only celebrity who went from boyish softness to a more mature through jaw and chin implants. His work fit his face so well that I didn’t even realize he had work done until I saw his before pictures.
I will shout this from the rooftops if it saves just one person from literally paying a surgeon mess up their face! Your face WILL CHANGE as you age and mature, in ways you or your family may not even expect. I walked around with a round moon face until I was close to 30!!
Even then, my face, jawline, and cheekbones were still developing into my early 30s. My face is faaaaaaaaaarrrrr more angular now than anyone would have ever guessed it would be. Had I had any buccal fat removed, implants, etc - I’d be looking like a crazy evil scarecrow from hell right now.
Even the best surgeons in the world make mistakes. Every human body is different and we are still have so much to learn in regards to medicine in general.
It’s expensive, there’s often unanticipated complications, risks, and plastic surgery isn’t even close to a magic bullet.
Please, please please, let yourself fully grow into your adult form before you go making any life altering changes to your face/body.
yes its crazy how much your appearance changes from 5-10, 10-15, 15-25, and then 25-30 for me! I am 27 this year and ive grown into my ears and nose
Wait til you reach over 40! For me, I notice changes in my face every 4 years. I had a lot of fullness in my face until early 40s when I was getting the most compliments and men chasing me! Lol. All downhill after 46 for me!

I remember I used to think Liam was the cutest out of 1D when I first became a fan in the 8th grade it’s sad that he wanted to change his looks but I hope he’s happy and understands he didn’t even need these procedures he was beautiful naturally

He made himself look gaunt and older for his age. He already did because of his smoking and drinking, but now it's even older with the gaunt cheeks and enlarging of the jaw-chin ends. It made a more rectangular head that was already rectangular. He's still handsome, but these procedures weren't the best ones. Laser or skin resurfacing would have helped his smoking damage instead of the exaggeration of his sagging jowel/ smile line area.
Or just smaller size of implants and no buccal fat removal

You know I was actually wondering if he did have some kind of laser or peel to his face because in the last picture comparison his face not only looks brighter and less tan, but it looks more smooth and glowy. (Especially around the forehead) So maybe he had something done to his facial skin as well. I mean if he's gonna go as far as buccal fat removal, jaw implant and lip filler all around the same time, it wouldn't be reaching to think he'd have his skin treated too.

I am sometimes overwhelmed with how many beauty standards there are for women. Just the other day, I saw a woman on Twitter freaking out about a female celebrities armpits! But while male beauty standards aren’t to the same extreme level of specificity, they totally exist. There’s a reason why all these guys in Hollywood want the same jaw.

What is the reason
Male beauty standards are insane. Men abuse multiple hormones destroying their endocrine system and masculinising their head to look lean and muscular. Add to this the hours upon hours of training and eating perfect diets to retain muscle tissue. I think this is just as much or even more extreme than what women are doing.

@@lukeism2 not at all because women have those pressures and more. Imagine trying to be muscular but not too much and also have boobs and a butt. It’s nearly impossible without surgery.

my instinctive reaction both to him and to zac has been why would you ever want to do that to yourself if you were so perfect to begin with. feminine features are very attractive to many, and they are even popular if you think of k pop for example. but at the same time i do think they both have underlying issues that they hope to fix by changing their looks

@@solus8685 Not to women as well. Well, I guess it depends on what age a girl is considered a woman. Almost all girls when I was growing up (10-20) were obsessed with Justin Bieber, then eventually one direction. I noticed around their mid 20s they switch to liking masculine features/men. In my experience it is very rare to find a woman past 25 who still has a preference for feminine men.
I've also seen many studies showing women on hormonal birth control preferring feminine men, but on their natural cycle they prefer masculine looking men. I've read stories online of women on hormonal birth control since they were teenagers eventually stopping their use to start a family and being so unattracted to their husband they end up getting divorced.

Now his jaw looks so sharp but in the it would hurt me if I touched it because it just doesn't look natural at all. I mean it's his face and only he has to like what he sees in the mirror but I think he looks like Handsome Squidward and that's not a great look in my opinion.

I think he desperately wants to be less pretty without realizing his prettiest feature is his EYES. Poor kid. If I didn't know how Liam looked before, I wouldn't have noticed how "done" he looks. Zac on the other hand looks quite filled and puffy in my opinion, which is a shame because he used to look so handsome. My heart goes out to these men and the pressure that must have been put on them
I have never been a listener of 1D but one of my best friends was a big fan of them and everytime she show me the guys in the group I must admit Liam and Zayn were the ones that always caught my eye.

I kind of understand his feelings, I also look like a teen for a very long time, I was 27 and people still asked for my ID ( hated ), I started to develop facial hair when I was already in. my 30s lol but I do think he may regret it only because the boyish look may be undesirable when we are young and still got that facial baby fat etc but turned out that all came very handy now that I'm 47 and still don't even need botox, fillers and people still think I'm in my 30s, I think if I didn't have that baby fat in my face back then now I would be looking emaciated taking in consideration I work out and keep my body fat to a healthy minimum, now I got that 30s something looks with the bigger masculine jaw and beard etc that I wanted in my 20s and 30s, I'm kind of glad I was broke back then because otherwise, i would definitely do the same thing

@@skrittle555 I think for men is different because when we are young we all want to look like alpha males and a straight guy that look like a teenager won’t get attention from women but teen girls , but things a very different now , I didn’t have social media the way it is today to push me over the edgy of my self esteem , im still from those days that you just work with what had , plastic surgery was still something that only famous people did , is not like now that any person can go to Turkey and come back with a new nose ! I also hated my nose and if I had the money I would changed, what I didn’t know was that my face would change and my nose now fits perfectly to my grow man face , a tiny nose wouldn’t look good with my mature face, sometimes we just need to give some time and only do it if you still think you don’t like something for few years, we make quickly decisions now for stuff that sometimes is permanent

I think what's sad is that in a couple of years, decades from now. Many of these celebrities and singers will age so much that in their fifties and sixties, their desire to look youthful might be a little too late.
I do feel for these people, feeling as if their baby face or their look is hindering their desired molding yet unable to have the confidence to age gracefully or to do light procedures that maintains their natural self.
I've never followed his career or been interested in him, but seeing this is hard. I hope someday people can start appreciating their uniqueness and feel good in their own skin. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the way he looked.

This is a very thoughtful and kind comment. His self esteem is probably very sensitive and becoming accustomed to his changes~ it can drive some over the edge if they see a lot of negativity and criticism.
@@rosemaryh.4105 Awww thank you! When I was a teenage girl, I sometimes dropped casual remarks intended to be humorous that I later learned can be quite harmful. When I found out, I felt terrible and vowed to only be supportive from then on. I thought guys had it easier in terms of body image and appearance in general so I had underestimated the level of insecurity that they had/have.
Of course that was in the 1990s and there was no social media yet or even the Internet till halfway through the decade.
The pressures on guys has become a lot worse, I think. When even the teen actors who played Harry Potter and Frodo Baggins had six pack abs, despite there being no weight training in either of their fictional worlds, it actually reinforced that this is how regular guys are supposed to look. When we look at, for example, James Bond movies starting in the 1960s, the actors were not visibly muscular as that was not a desired look back then.
This is also not easy to achieve. Even with rigourous training and an appropriately protein-rich, lean diet, not all guys are going to have that level of definition. I have read that the demand for steroids has increased which is to be expected as the standard for a pleasing male appearance has increased to the point where maybe 5% of guys achieve it.
Steroids used to be only for the bodybuilders and elite athletes, who obviously did not want to get caught, but wanted the benefits.

Would love a male jaw implant video! It really seems like one very specific jawline is the standard for men in Hollywood. There are a lot of actors I find to be plain or normal-looking but I can understand why they're so loved because they check that one box.

I'm a guy and I feel the pressure of altering my face. I naturally have neotenous features and a small built, and I feel because of that people dont take me seriously. I even tried to lose weight so my face can look sharper yet I always end up looking cute even with short hairdos. I get why Liam did to do that.
Look at the comments, and women praising soft features of a man...sometimes we are unreasonably over critical of our looks when we shouldn’t.
My beautiful friend married a soft baby faced, smaller guy she met at church. Now he is in his mid 40's and looks younger (28-30) compared to other middle aged guys. His body has filled out a bit (he works out), so now he has the lean look. Hope this helps.

As an ex-1D fan, Liam was always my favorite next to Louis back then. I really like the softer features of his face, I'm sad he got rid of them, I wouldn't automatically recognize him if I had only seen the after picture. But if that's what he wanted, I hope he's happy with the results, he doesn't look bad, I just...I'm a bit shocked, cause I almost didn't recognize him.

At first, his new face seems so extreme to me but then over the course of your video it started to look more normal. I think we're getting used to seeing artificial faces more than natural. And it's not good for anyone. Don't mean to be critical. But it's sad people who are good-looking feel such a deep need to modify their faces so much. Obviously people should do what they need to feel good about themselves and I'm not against cosmetic surgery by any means. It's just a little bit sad that we've gotten so far away from appreciating natural good looks.

It reminds me of The Twilight Zone episode where the attractive looking woman was supposed to undergo surgery to look like all the weird-looking people that were supposed to be the normal ones. But she didn't want to and was being forced to undergo surgery to be acceptable.

Definitely do a video on jaw implants in celebrity men! I feel like plastic surgery must be just as common for men but it's not something my eye is trained to notice.
I prefer a bigger nose (with some exceptions) so I get personally annoyed when people destroy their faces - at least as far as I’m concerned - just to fit in with European beauty standards. But I also understand feeling uncomfortable in one’s own skin and wanting to just blend in with universally pretty people
Big nose person here. I used to hate my nose but over time I just started to love it. I think it gives a certain strength to your face. The Disney princess nose trend also pisses me off. Recently I saw an add of a black women going to Korea to get a nose job and I'm thinking wtf is this in my ads, I don't want to see this. Even people who don't get surgery often contour their face to make it look as small as possible, and I think that can be a dysphoria issue to when they do it every single day. Jennifer gray is a great example of someone who got a nose job and her career suffered from it. Her imperfect nose suited her. My nose is bigger and I hear a lot of Scottish people also have bigger noses, so I feel like it's a tie in to my ancestry that I shouldn't be ashamed of

@@love-ip7sz Yes, I shouldn’t have said “European,” as the classic Greek nose is rather pronounced and with a little bit of a bump on it, and I love that. I think, especially on men, it looks so classic and gorgeous. I met a guy online who got rhinoplasty to turn his big beautiful Grecian nose into a dainty little ski slope nose, and I almost cried. He was gorgeous before he got the nose job, and looked like a creepy doll afterward

Hi Lorry, another great informative video, as always! I find it so sad that those naturally very attractive men feel the need to change their features. I don't like the direction in which the beauty standards seem to be going with those sunken, dry faces, jaw implants, and buccal fat removals. I find both Liam and Zac so much more attractive before most procedures.

Liam’s nose is similar to mine and he used to be my fave in 1D. Seeing that he changed it kind of makes me sad as I’ve only recently come to terms with mine which has been difficult with the obsession of the button nose or just overall slim one

Oh wow, he really said "I want that handsome Squidward special." He literally had a nice jaw and chin to start, this is honestly sad that he made such drastic change and basically lost his recognizable look. Your idea that he may have done this to boost his acting prospects makes sense to me, though. I would love to see a video on jaw and chin implants (for men and women!)
