- Young Male with Neglected Calcaneus (Heel) fracture treated initially by a quack. He Was subsequently treated at our centre with Subtalar arthrodesis. Patient is now walking painfree and back to his pre injury occupation.

i am 26M and i just had a minimal invasive surgery of the calcaneus bone. The bone was split in 5 pieces and to fix that, three screws were put in. the doctors told me the surgery was a success and I am following due recovery. the thing that is bothering me is that since the injury, every orthopaedic doctor I have met has told me that I have significantly increased my chances of arthritis. I was hoping if you have any words for me?

Post traumatic arthritis of Subtalar joint is very common post displaced fractures of calcaneus but a well fixed calcaneus fracture decreases its incidence significantly. I hope the very best for you.

Going to wrong place for treatment is quite common practice in rural areas, which ultimately brings no fruit. Very nicely explanation of injury and medical procedure thereafter. Quite good recovery, nice job ..

I had same surgery it is 12 th week running i walk with walker boot n strutchers but i cant put weight i am afraid that screw will not broke
