He has some faults and also closes one eye on corruption but the benefits for China and all its citizens greatly outweighs them.
More Life was saved/improved as a result, I think.
Mao: over 10-45 million deaths due to starvation, a cultural revolution that destroy many of the 1000+ years of China's history
Ping: Brought industry to China and developed China has the world factories that even the next leader has to acknowledge as correct
XI: Burn up all foreign bridges, Potentially starting WW3 that can result in over 50 million dead, causes the global community to reduce their engagement/investment/trade with China... that can result in the real-estate bubble crisis.
China really need another Ping as the next leader before its too late

Indeed, India should at least plan to help say 2% of her poorest people every year! At least over 2 decades you would achieve something, at the moment, the better off Indians simply prefer to engage in publicity of telling the world how great the nation is. Jayant Bhandari, an investment advisor would laugh at all those statistics generated by the Indian government. Indeed on one occasion, he laughed at the naive news reader who claimed that India would overtake within two decades since India could achieve an annual increase of her GDP by 1.5% annually!

Mao set the Foundation, Deng set the Direction, Jiang and Hu carried them out and Xi complete them. Every Era requires the Right Leadership for the Right time and it so happens that each of them were right for the different Era they were in.
Countless mistakes were made and countless right decisions were made but the Objective and Mission never changed. No system is Ever perfect only continuous improvement of the System and constant adaptation need to be made to suit the Times.
What is important is to learn from mistakes and not dwell in them. No point crying over spilt milk and no point in obsessing over the Past which nobody can change. No point in living in the past but Remembering History is important to learn from it not live in it.
What ifs questions is a futile exercise.

One of the greatest and most unappreciated qualities of modern Chinese society is its humility, a quality severely lacking in the West and the United States in particular.
Since Deng, the CPC has demonstrated its willingness to admit its errors, work with others and adopt best practices regardless of their origin.
The CPC is far from perfect, but that has never been its goal. It still makes mistakes, engages in cover ups, and the usual political BS, but overall it has been the most successful organization over the last 100 years.

20:21 Deng Xiaoping understood the flaw in Marxist rigidity of assuming every problem from the lens of class-struggle. His analysis "seek truth from facts" is perhaps the most revolutionary idea in modern times and can be accredited to China's rise as a power. The combination of "visible hand of state" with the "invisible hand of the market" is also a result of Xiaoping thinking. Even though West seems to be open to ideas but ironically one can sense in their functioning a rigidity. Their refusal to admit the flaws in their democratic working. The strict adherence to procedures formulated centuries ago and opposition to ideas that a non-democratic system might not only work but may outperform them in future.

    • @stephenlock7236
      @stephenlock7236 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That's the irony and the deciding weakness of the democratic form of governance. China's system is in constant reforms to adjust to the problems and realities of the day. Another irony of the issue is that it is the democratic system of governance that claim itself to be flexible and self correcting in its system. That has of course been proven to be a fool's delusion.

China transformed its agrarian economy to an industrial, manufacturing , and technological economy within a short 30 years to become the world’s second largest economy and whose PDP exceeded that of USA. Meanwhile, the US economy moved sideways at best as its government clings to past glories while flexing military muscle around the globe, especially at China.

I can’t find episode eight because it leaves off with episode seven ending in the early 50s I don’t know if they did this on purpose because of the hundred flowers campaign 1956-57 in which mao let the people criticize but then crack down on them and the Great Leap Forward 1958-62 where millions of Chinese died in the cultural revolution 1966-76 in which they destroyed hundreds of historical items and also attack intellectuals teachers doctors for being counterrevolutionary ?

The 8th episode of Chinese version for local audience did not cover much on those events. The stance of CPC has been one of "We know it was a mistake, we have admitted so, but we won't dwell on it in our media effort" when it comes to the Great Leap Forward, 3-year famine, and Cultural Revolution. Every Chinese knows it was a dark chapter of socialist China and the CPC - and there is plenty of resources online by the Party and other outlets within China that is freely available to young Chinese who wish to learn more about it. Episode 8 was more about what China DID achieve from 1949 to 1978 _in spite_ of the aforementioned challenges. Suffice to say that the admiration for Chairman Mao among young Chinese today (especially those born after the 1990) is at an all time high - even though virtually every one of them have learned about the events you mentioned, both within and outside the Great Firewall. Many of them have decided that his contributions far outweigh his mistakes and he ought to be celebrated as such.

If they had read Marx and Engels, they would have known that Engels liked to say: "The proof of the pudding is in the eating." What a great triumph for human history that elements in the Party did not succeed in silencing Comrade Deng Xiaoping! Proletarian democracy will inevitably replace bourgeois democracy: in that sense, the class struggle is still paramount as long as classes contend on the world stage.

The death of Lin Biao , heard by Mr. Deng Xiaoping by listening radio in his exile factory. then He realized Mr.Mao needs him, so he wrote a letter to Mr Mao for a job in Beijing. History would be different if no radio at his factory. This is according to book. True or not I don't know.

If you want to see if governments work for its people or not then they should look at China and U.S
Where richest country in the world has homelessness, drug problem, people choosing between meals, medicine or roof over head, working three jobs and still living paycheck to paycheck despite the sprry state of their country they still find wars and proxy wars meanwhile China beinging over 800million people out of poverty, becoming factory of the world, never interfering with other country's inter affairs, helping countries build infrastructure to boost economic movement to name a few out many.
