Reform and opening up policies are beneficial to China’s long term development. Deng Xiaoping, the person who raised this idea, has done a great job for the nation’s future🇨🇳
People with different concept of life founded on differing ideologies and traditions are wasting their time to argue which is better than the other. Whatever ideology used the verdict should be based on the final result of whether the overall society has improved. In the process, some sacrifices must be made, often impeding general progress of the society. Personal freedom should not impede the welfare of the general interests of the whole society. And more importantly, the bottom 10% must be provided with the minimal ability to survive and China has done exactly that!
Exactly. Xi has emphasized that recently that systems should be judged by the practice of it, i.e. results from its application, not just the theories.
indeed. I used to be a very orthodox commie (I was a trotskyist before), and nowadays I feel like an idiot. In the end what matters is not the book or the doctrine, but the social progress you achieve, and China is achieving it in its own way. Although mistakes are made, well, it is the biggest nation of the world, and is doing a way better job than all capitalist countries together. By managing all contradictions, they are bringing the socialist dream back. Now I understand why Fidel Castro told that Xi Jinping was the most capable revolutionary he every met
Success of China is due to good leaders with visions of progress, encouraging new social reforms and progressed in science. Well done China. Worthy of Praise.
If I understand the issue correctly, the village committee took a risk to set up an incentive system to allow some profit and excess grains to be kept by the villagers after a harvest. This may sound simple but it is a huge risk if the CCP does not agree to such an economic model with some capitalist flavor. The committee may be imprisoned or executed which was highlighted in the video. We know that a purely communist collective system does not work as it sucks out the incentive for people to work hard. Luckily the country under Deng Xiaoping recognize the need for a big change of approach to rigid communist ideology so there was no opposition to the idea. And, sure enough, the idea worked and the people got some profit and more than adequate food. The idea is then easily spread to other areas around the country. So, China stumbled initially under the CCP (remember the Great Leap Forward campaign) but had to innovate or see the country go into chaos again. The CCP managed to make good decisions and now the country is progressing fast and, more importantly, the people are enjoying the prosperity of a well-managed country after emerging from a century of humiliation. The progressive ideas by Deng and some of his comrades are not totally welcomed by the more conservative factions within the CCP. So, things and issues are much more complicated than what we see on the surface. If the conservatives had won, China will still be as backward now as it was 50 years ago.
For that China and the Chinese people all across the good Earth will be forever grateful to the CPC for its bold decision to step out of the box and is therefore able to witness the China of today and that of the centuries to come.
deng and many more who worked with him absolutely made the right call for the time. now that china is very prosperous, xi is looking to reign in some of the privitization and other things deng spearheaded, but not because he is undoing deng, but rather to make good on what deng's reforms were preparing for in the first place -- socialism by 2050
Actually collectivization can definetely work, it worked great in the USSR and also in China. The problems of the Great Leap Forward werent due to collectivization but because of bad central planning. Too much focus was put on industrialization (Mao wanted to surpass England in 12 years iirc) which left agriculture very neglected. This, combined with droughts and bad harvests, caused a terrible famine. Collectivization is most definetely the way for socialism, there is no doubt about that. Comrade Deng didnt ditch it due to it "just not working", but because poor agrarian China needed a transitionary capitalist phase before being able to successfully achieve socialism, which is the state China is in right now. To open up to the world market a capitalist agricultural system was needed. Thus, collectivization had to be ditched, at least until China could achieve socialism. Deng's ideas worked amazingly, raising China from agrarian backwater state to world power state. This state-controlled capitalist phase has served its purpose, which is to enrich China and prepare it for socialism. For this reason, Comrade Xi is now preparing for transitioning to socialism by 2050. Lets hope he succeeds! Long live the PRC and the CPC!
Still remember my neighbor in the lower floor started his private BBQ duck shop in 1979. He used to slaughter the ducks in his apartment during the night, man the smell was horrible. One year later, he moved to his own new house !
China proves progress takes unity of purpose for the common good of all. One step at a time. Improve on successes and delete failures. Then take a second step to a new idea, etc! Patient endurance is a Chinese way of life that ends in success for a better world. Lessons we can learn if we put peace before war!

No need to argue.Soviet Union had been collapsed long time ago and Vietnam is nothing compared to China. We have thousands of years history, rise and fall is normalized
They didn't lost fool. The incursion into Vietnam was to test Soviet Vietnam defense treaty. During the Sino Soviet split. The USSR was forming allies to contain China. China believes that treaty was fake. It was proven true. Soviet never came to save Vietnam when China invaded. Second it was to open another front in a war between ally China and Cambodia. Vietnam was invading Cambodia, Laos and probably would try to annexed those two countries. By invading Vietnam.. China force the Vietnamese to fight on two fronts. Thus proving the Soviet Treaty was fake and ending Vietnam expansionism rest of South East Asia. The US supported China invasion of Vietnam because it was after US Vietnam War. The US supported China because of fear of Soviet expansion in rest of S. E. A. China was not in the business of spreading communism like the Soviet. Anyone think China with 1.2 billion people at the time right next door to Vietnam cannot overrun Vietnam? 😂

Hiding that episode makes you look weak. Especially since there are references to it in episode 9. If you have truly “opened up”, then show us episode 8. Show us the CPC, warts and all. Simple answer to your question. China would rather focus on the positive rather than the negative. But that doesn't mean you don't learnt from it. Only losers and failures prefer to spent time dwelling on the negative.
A blip compared to the 150 years it lost to western invasions and occupation. The riches these western colonialists looted from China, and their other colonies, was what made them into industrialised and developed countries of today. Without those loots the West would be the sxxthole countries Donald Trump talked about.
