RIP, Geordie. What a great guitarist
WHAT?????
@@tomlechat3778 dies last week. he was a legend. doubt of they will carry on without him. how could they ?
@@beecee2205 Silence for Geordie...
Ahhhh Noooo!
I wasn’t aware he passed away.
I am so bummed right now.
At least I saw them live … at least 10 times.
RIP Geordie
His style of playing, the smooth switches and weird chords he used... and getting a sound like that out his hollow bodied Gibson ES-295. Truely an iconic player in my opinion. All of that done with this 'panache'. This will definatly be the end of Killing Joke. Where to find such a unique player again to fill this gap?
RIP Geordie, the most amazing guitarist i've ever seen I will miss your music
Basically the sound of my late teenage years..Was there ever a cooler guitarist who defined 'heavy' while at the same time making it seem effortless. A genuine unique. RIP Geordie.
Great band. So underrated. Geordie's signature sound is so iconic.
Every member of this band is so good. Crazy, weird-sounding reverberated guitar with all kinds of dissonant notes their are perfectly out of place, loud and bouncy, dominant bass guitar, crazy drums with all kinds of sick fills, a crazy, in-a-trance singer who looks and sounds like he's about to summon a demon or something, and well....a keyboard player to fill in the sonic gaps. It's pretty much musical perfection in my opinion. I'm a big fan.
totally
fock yes
Yes mid 80s Killing Joke sooo good. Though their whole catalog is a pleasure to go exploring in.
What he said.. I owe you a six pack for this perfect paragraph
dude if you like killing joke check out joy division, the feelies, swell maps, gang of four
Jesus this is the nastiest and coolest guitar sound I've possibly ever heard. Absolutely love all the chorus and sheet metal tone
I agree.
RIP
A huge and majestic tone. He lost it later when his sound got more distorted but this Geordie in his prime.
Power
Hallucinés
Now a testament to Geordie's skills & sound.
PS: would be great if the video was synched with the audio...
Originators that's for sure. Killing Joke continues to sound fresh and modern.
a PROPER band-first heard them very early eighties,"love like blood" 👍👍-now listen and watch them live...jazz coleman, the late great geordie walker and the rest of the band=EXCELLENT ENGLISH BAND!! from Piers(61 year old enlishman from peckham, london) cheers see ya.
R.I.P. GEORDIE AND PAUL RAVEN…….We miss you both
Geordie…what a fucking legend. His guitar sound is so bloody epic.
Geordie: How cool is that guy !!! Wearing Paris Haute Couture fashion, making dance moves, being relaxed, knocking out metal riffs constantly....
I love your compliments honestly makes me 😂, smile and happy thanks ❤❤
Guy was a gem!
This is hands down the most PHENOMENAL thing I've ever seen. These guys are INCOMPARABLE and simply otherworldly in EVERY way, shape, and form. They have NO EQUAL. RIP Raven, you were absolutely amazing.
Geordie Walker - the coolest guitar ever.
oh hell yeah
Simulation Virtue no doubt
severely underrated
Everyone knows who The Edge is, but nobody knows who Geordie Walker is. That's the world we live in.
YEEESSSSSSS
I could blow out my eardrums listening to that amazing guitar.
Yep, THANK YOU GEORDIE!!!!!
Who’d have thought a man in chinos could make such powerful sounds on a semi acoustic guitar 😆
Rotfl, that's funny
🤣💯
He kind of has that New Romantics look going. Ironic considering the sounds. I saw them once in a club in AZ. AMAZING SHOW!
35:25
life saver
Come as you are
You mean 0:37.
Thanks dude.
just what I was looking for
I've just discovered Killing Joke during the coronavirus lockdown. Theyve instantly become my favorite band. How the f**k have I missed out on them for all these years?
How the fuck indeed
At least you’ve found them…
Let me guess: your entry into KJ was 'i am the virus'?
In the U.S., if you didn't watch a lot of Mtv in the mid-eighties, you could easily have missed out on them. Even then, they weren't on heavy rotation. They were probably on the club charts, too.
KJ "biggest" hit commercially, was a love like blood. Otherwise, KJ always stayed under the radar. Definitely a "cult band". Geordie had such a unique sound though. legends for sure!
I just found this..unreal in every since I'm cranking this up daily..thanks for the upload!!
Amazing band of a different type on the rock planet. So rare and precious. Remaining a true reference over the years. Big fan.G
Need a montage of Geordie's wiggle dance and pouty stares. RIP
The drummer... amazing.. forget about drum machines, this is our man!
Always fun to watch Jaz scanning the crowd with those switchblade eyes. I feel a lot of his energy has a lot to do with if the crowd is in the zone with him.
I legitimately read "sandwich blade eyes" :'D but yeah, for sure!
I was blown away by these live… immense
One of the best live acts of the 80s, they were amazing.
My fondness for this band began with “Change”. The music from back in those days…😌
Had that song on EG Records sampler LP. I think it was my favorite tune on record. Killer groove. Excellent bass gtr
@@rustybeltway2373If you want to know where Change got it’s roots from, look up the song Me and My Baby Brother by War.
Geordie was the coolest, no one was like him.
first time hearing this band!!! black metal pop in the 80s hahahaha!!! wild sound and that lightly distorted, semi acoustic stereo chorus 😢 that's so original!
Just got into Killing Joke recently, this is one of the best punk performances I’ve ever seen! These guys are incredible, RIP Geordie
Despite wearing that get up, Geordie still looks the coolest guy alive. Amazing band!
Awesome concert. They were ahead of thier time.
Incredible band.
It's hilarious watching the crowd being scared away at 2:35. The guitar is so abrasive, then you have the pounding drums, super tight bass and singer in a trance. They don't know how to process it!
This also sound like the two chords from the beginning of deftones be quiet and drive
A great band live!
Saw them with Big Black and G Bats! Albini said some wry comment about Coleman’s head being like a potatoe!
My parents went on a Greek holiday in the late 80’s and met Coleman, Susan and Tabitha. They said they were a sound bunch!
Fantastic
Geordie, an absolute legend! So original, so talented, gorgeous and such a gentleman.
A true legend
Definitely a performance best suited for "Night Time."
Nothing but brilliantly memorable times off the "Night Time" album.
this is very inspiring .. still...
Fuck yeah! Totally agree...this is beyond cool!
Hilarious - check out the crowd - slightly at odds with the band - lovely babes and good old frat boys decked out in tennis accoutrements on a hot day and checkin out Jaz Coleman and Killin effin Joke - priceless
many of their 80's albums were recorded in germany. but the incongruity is there ...in the band too, Geordie looks like he should playing in a 'blue-eyed soul' pop band.
also, some a-hole waiving a confederate flag
@@Epitaphforyesterday people have been waving confederate flags for about a hundred and fifty years. Nobody gave a shit until a bunch of spoiled, entitled little brats started throwing temper tantrums. Grow up and stop being a control freak.
@@josephcbugajski7105 The confederacy lost asshole. One of the few times when the bad guys lost, but they still won't shut up about it.
@@josephcbugajski7105 confederate flag: #1 to show people you know nothing about history lol
would love to have seen them around this time. Geordie's guitar sound is just like the recorded version
Mindblowing ❤
The drums on requiem are awesome 👏
Legends!!!!
Rest in peace Geordie you will never be forgotten
This is the first outdoor Rockpalast concert I have seen. Killing Joke are at their best.
Quella chitarra la suonava Geordie 😢🎸
Se n'è andato a 64 anni Ciao Geordie vivrai sempre nel mio ❤️🎸
These guys were my second ever gig when I was 15 about 12 years ago. Sad that I won't get to see Geordie again, but all the more legendary now is the experience of having him seen them when I was still so fresh.
looking fwd 2 see them again on oct 16th in Munich!
RIP Geordie, Raven. Geordie has been one of the most significant guitarists ever! His free, soothing, precious picking style is the best thing I'd like to learn from him
🎸Paul Raven 🎸Geordie ~ Prague will never forget you!
Прекрасная группа . Есть их первый винил в моей коллекции .
Amazing
awesome
sounds unreal, my favorite Killing Joke song is "Darkness Before Dawn"
Loved KILLING JOKE back in these early days. I saw them in Barrie, Ontario in the early 80's in the middle of the day at an event like this. Jaz also played keyboards on that tour. On a sunny day they pulled off a great set, shocking many who had come to see the Go-Go's and lighter fare. Iggy Pop played a great set too. I love Geordie's guitar being up so high in the mix and the energy these guys injected into a crowd like this. Not so sure everybody appreciated/understood their music. That show made me a KJ fan for life.
HH Gladish I was there as well, they have been my favorite band since, still are today. Saw them at Larry’s Hideaway a yr later when they recorded “ Ha “ and 3 or so yrs ago for The Singles tour, finally got to shake Jazz’s hand...last thing he did before leaving the stage. Meant a lot to me. I was so disappointed that they didn’t do Canada 🇨🇦 this last tour... “Pylon” fn’ is incredible....wow all these years, still the best fn’ band there is ! In Barrie my gf and I met some American girls, somehow they knew the guys at the entrance gate and we were let in before they let anyone in, my arms hung over the stage fence for the whole show. I remember like yesterday. Sorry for the ramble, had to share to someone who might care. I’ve played guitar for over 50 yrs now, my band in those days did Killing Joke covers...ppl had no idea but I do remember during a set the crowd was still singing “ Complication “ . You mentioned the Barrie show and this just came out...sorry. Fucking love Killing Joke !!!
These were not the early days. Late 70s were where they started. Shit the bed. Wow
RIP Paul Raven
Big Paul Ferguson working overtime on that one. Love it.
Don't care if it's named wrong, don't care if the sound goes out of synch, this is great. Even on a sunny afternoon when you wouldn't normally even think of seeing a band like this because there isn't a cloud in the sky, the birds are singing & all is well they smash you in the face & scream "Wake Up you Idiot!!".
couldnt said it better!
Geordie's got the moves. What a babe.
the sound blows me away the guitar sound is amazing
saw them live at the Whisky in Hollywood (1982). I had never heard of them, but knew they must be special if they were playing at the Whisky. I was blown away.
Darkness before Dawn - Performance awesome.
🖤💜🖤
I love it when a guitar player can set such a mood without the most uber distortion, lowest tune, etc...
Creative mood is true talent
Is that not the COOLEST guitar sound!

4.Open Air Loreley 17.08.1985.
Def. not the US. Great Open-Air venue above the river Rhine.
A shame the sound is over dubbed I've seen them play many times ,I seen them play in Melbourne Australia in early 85 and in London in the late Eighties and every time their gigs were blistering. sorry to hear the loss of Geordie.
Jaz Coleman walks on stage, sizes up the crowd and says 'It's good to back in the USA'.
Oh geordie... such a cool guitarist rest well
the twisted, tormented mindscapes Coleman conjures up from the darkest recesses of his sharded, fractured psyche are more truly disturbing and apocalyptic than the visual hellscapes we witnessed in the worst excesses seen in A Clockwork Orange, Mad Max 2, Eraserhead and Pans' Labyrinth comined.
I cannot imagine KJ doing a gig in the day, but they are excellent! A band all times of the day! Still brilliant to this day. I will see them in 2018.
Best band in the world...... th-cam.com/video/fq3pcP0LKgQ/w-d-xo.html
Saw them in NYC, September 12. Best show ever.
Back in the year when people had to listen to the music. No mobile phones! No stupid videos to be uploaded at YT. Just music! Can you believe it? Ah, before I forget. Great show by an outtanding band!
What Can I Say But Jaz, Geordie, Big Paul, And Raven..A Killing Joke Marvel! 🖤🤍🖤
Geordie & Paul Raven 🎸🎸
This Band is phenomenal with a unique concept : There are never ever any guitar solos
A lot of punk acts don't do solos.
Tons of bands don’t have solos.
Youth. Yer only man on bass. great sound. Oh, It's Raven. Thanks.
It's actually Paul Raven on bass
RIP Geordie 😥
That crowd arent worthy of such a brill performance, they look like they are too busy sunbathing in their flipflops, where r all their fans??? ;)
Ikr.. I think they were expecting Bruce string bean
Ruhe in Frieden Geordie dein Gitarrensound war besonders.
What I noticed about the crowd/audience, everyone is wearing colors. If you went to a punk/metal show now, everyone would be wearing black.
Night time es una obra maestraaaaaaa sin discursion y masssssss
great band, i think singer is lot like peter steele in postures n singing style. cheers.
I once had a yellow Korg distortion reverb pedal that did this sound sort of, but not quite...Kill1ng Joke is and will always be #1 band of my choice. This line up of mates was insane with the good vibes and talent output.
What about Good samaritan you've missed it out
RIP Geordie
the intensity. good glob.
Tune of the guitar?
Setlist timestamps?
🖤
Booids by SAHB as intro music. Wow!
Wich minute is love like blood.
24:45 kings and queens
The A/V sync is so off on this video, which is a shame as this is a killer performance.
On tour with TOOL thats how much the band is respected
Word.... That's a tremendous show of respect and love... I'm shaking with anticipation... I hope and expect the insanely smart, accepting Tool fans will appreciate and love them... They're as much as freaks as Tool...
@@kennyvasquez8007 true that...watching this performance was an intense sonic binary in my frontal lobe...trance like and a TOOL for finding new music from the past....ahhhhh i know the pieces fit...
What an awesome performance, tho I noticed the video is not in time with the audio starting at the fourth song on the setlist.
Yeah some of my early digitising was awful lol, at some point I will reupload a better copy.
@@TravisBickle1963 Oh don't sweat it man, I still enjoyed it, thanks for the upload.
40:15 The Drums are fucking BOMBING
Tour dates?
As their song said 'Eighties ' with contemporary advertisements now. With part of the show missing or repeated?
Early KISS were awesome
❤❤🎉
The power and drive of early Killing Joke with my preffered line up. They will never be the same without Raven and Geordie. I would like to see them hang up their mics now.
yep, your right , always thought it was hard for jaz to replicate the more snarly vocals ,off especially the first 2 albums
Anyone could have been replaced other than Geordie most were other than Jazz and Geordie . They are now dead .for me it was bad enough when Raven passed .I was never a Youth fan. and I have seen most of the line ups . The ultimate still is with Geordie Jazz Raven big Paul . But they were good with Ted Parsens on Drums too. But for the remaining members to carry on without Geordie would be an insult to the great man.
Dovunque fossi quel giorno, ero nel posto sbagliato...
22:23 What a thunder drive .
