- Anders Ertzeid, Hegel Music Systems' VP of sales and marketing, speaks with SoundStage! editor-in-chief Jeff Fritz on Hegel's affinity for designing killer integrated amplifiers. Anders also gives his thoughts on when it is appropriate to move into the world of separate components. Lastly, Anders tells Jeff about a fantastic audio system that most any serious audiophile can afford.

I met Anders Ertzeid at the 2019 iEar audioshow in the Netherlands, a very pleasant person to communicate with, and a good representative for Hegel.
After using a older class A amp from Electrocompaniet, also from Norway, witch i like very much i switched to a Hegel Rost a wile ago.
Now i am a Hegel fan.
Because of a hearing problem (tinnitus & hyperacusis) my hearing is very sensitive for high frequencies.
The set i use now, the Hegel and a pair of Amphion Argon 3 speakers the high frequencies are no problem any more and i can enjoy music.

I’ve now bought two Hegel amps! I sold off all my separates. That’s how much I love the sound. Started with the Rost and having a 390 delivered today! My question to Anders is this.......how the heck do I get one of those Hegel sweatshirts?

Very happy with my Hegel H160 + Maggie LRS pairing... Thought about upgrading to the H190 or perhaps an H360 just not sure I would get much benefit/gain from the upgrade with my current speakers. I have a smaller room so going up to a maggie 1.7 doesn't make much sense for me.
Beast of amplifiers that all offer great value. In the few Months i own Hegel i noticed that the amp has No buzz or hum so it make the music experince so much better

OK- how does adding MQA de trio are overall sound of the device ? Why do you eschew the RF /noise of wi-fi receiver but are ok with Air play ? Why fo with an on board DAC when even at Hegel they are CONSTANTLY improving !? Also what are your current objection to USB/Is2 implementations ?
What would you say will be the best speakers to pair up with Hegel h95? (I had Hegel 80 before and loved it, but then life happend).

I'd like to have a 590 without any digital inputs.
I was disapointed with h-390... Toroidal buzz kills music. Tried several new pieces at several places and even diferent cities, so no its not electricity problem. Plus pluged isotec filter/static dc current - not working, had to give it up. Sr but cant recommend it.
We are really sorry to hear that. Would you mind sharing what country you live in? I understand if you don't, but it helps us a lot.

Is it normal? Two pieces where the same h-390 but it was diferent units (on off button, small light in display), sound wise bouth had humm.
@@kestask4809 Thank you. The most important was in which country you are using it. We are trying to map things, you see. Meaning, we have heard about torodial buzz before. And we know why it happens. But we are searching for where it happens.
Since you are helping us out I will explain a little more. We use large torodial transformers that does not have a case around them to shield the noise. The reason is that the case reduces dynamics. We also choose the most dynamic torodial transformers. But again the most dynamic solution are also most sensitive to "torodial buzz". So I am investigating a little on where they have been used when I find complaints like this. We want to make certain that everyone that gives us a chance receives a premium experience.
So any help on letting us know where it has been used will help a lot. Thank you.
@@HegelMusicSystem thank you for explanation. I did tried Naim unity Nova with big toroidal transformer - no toroidal hum... Same plase, same equipment. (Friend took jis Nad m-10 d class amp - no humm)

Its not a ground Loop, tried 2/3 wires, nodiference.

an overrated brand that could not deliver a basic roon integration for the last 2 years
Hegel is not overrated at all. It's not crazy expensive. Many consumers can afford them. Though Roon integration is long overdue is true.

@@kestask4809 far from overrated, but as long as it is your opinion it’s nothing wrong with having an opinion, Hegel have incrediable performance so the good reviews is easy for me to see
Overrated you say? There have been a lot of good reviews on the products and most who bought Hegel products are happy. Like me, and I sure am surprised by the performance! I believe Hegel integrated amplifiers are so good that; separate components for better quality are a thing of the past.
