@SAMFlSHER40l7 You are trained to compose yourself under stress. But when you grow close to your buddies for that long, you can't help but feel that way when you see them die. They are like brothers. The reaction is only natural.
While this was going on Sal Giunta was busy laying waste to motherfuckers to save his brother. If you want to see more on this Restrepo and The Korengal are pretty great documentaries that cover their entire deployment.
And just think. There’s men out there pretending to be troops and war veterans, stealing these men’s valor. Breaks my heart. Not sure how anyone could ever do that .
How come Sal Giunta's name does not come up, he was the one who recovered Brennan's body when it was carried by the Taliban which earned him the Medal of Honor.
@@happinesshotel5375 @9:20 they say Medic Hugo Mendoza tried to save Brennan which is falsi because Mendoza wasn’t in the first squad of first platoon, he was farther back, but still KIA with Brennan. Sounds like they didn’t know what happened even though 48 hrs after Giunta’s actions, Capt Kearney has already nominated him for the MOH.
One of the men in this vid of real life....that NO actor can play his roll for a movie I know personally!!...my brotha [ A.Toves ] the one singing and playing the guitar!!....MAD RESPECT FOR HIM the stories he tells...I have a hard time going about my day !! They’re already angry you took away their timber trade that was making them a fortune, now you bomb them and kill their women and children. Have fun with that one guys. Don’t get me wrong, these soldiers are heroes and I have the utmost respect, but the army needs to do a better job understanding who they’re dealing with.

A little more context because they cut a lot of stuff out from the movie. They were shot at from that exact village the night before by rockets and small arms. In turn they dropped a few air strikes on the village. The next day they patrolled the village to combat the surviving taliban and to take back the village from tacloban control but when they got there they were only met with villagers. When the searches the village they found rockets, pistols, machine guns and rifles. They asked the village where the taliban were and the village elder lied and told them there are no taliban. Which opened the question up as to why then was someone shooting at the soldiers if there were no taliban there and the elder continued to give excuses and said he doesn’t know anything about it. Later it’s eluded that the taliban pays the elders of each village to lie to American troops about the taliban’s location in order to throw the Americans off their trail and to also keep guessing where they might be. When they did the air strike they thought they would be killing the enemy but instead the taliban used the villagers as bait. They knew the Americans would fire back at the village in retaliation. The taliban would do this in order to make public relations with the elders and the Americans bad so that the Americans could have a more difficult time finding reliable information.
Interesting to see the reaction of the Afghan villagers who have just had their CHILDREN killed, and that of these professionally trained soldiers who have just had a colleague killed.

That soldier crying after his buddy died is so heartbreaking
Watch the documentary Restrepo; there's a lot more to it. It's utterly heartwrenching.
So is watching little kida getting hurt by helicopters.
War is hell, one can only blame the Taliban for using civilians as human shields and getting them hurt as a result of their cowardice…
A lot of these kids are old men now. Most of them are probably married with kids. Hopefully they found peace.
I'm so glad that I never went back to Chicago. It's wild to see how much weight I lost over there.

Yep. That’s me.

Biggest amount of respect possible for the people of our military. As well as the militaries of our allies.

@Michael Fetty Giunta wasn’t on like Donkey Kong until the day AFTER sgt Rougle was KIA.
Believe that was the next night. Same mountain same operation. Different platoon/ sector
@@philliphampton5183 Sgt Rougle was 2nd Platoon, killed in daytime, Giunta was 1st Platoon, his Buddy Sgt Brennan was killed at night.

I know that Sal hates talking about it so possibly had to do so with this.

Proud of you all.
God bless all who served at o p Restrepo and all that served in general
If not for the civilian issue, this conflict could have had better results. I know I'm stating the obvious.
You mean we would've killed every last one of them? I agree that would have been a better outcome
Man this is so heartbreaking. God bless our American Soldiers.
Unbelievable what these guys did.
Some of those people were Taliban you can see the rat in their faces
We learned NOTHING from Vietnam
