I’ve been following these ladies since they were little kids ( they were that good ). I’m so pleased to see them come as far as they have. It’s very interesting and satisfying to watch a band from its infancy so to speak, and see them grow from that point, and then make it as that same band. They have raw natural talent, are very good musicians, and the songs are very very good. I can’t wait to see what comes next for them.

Covid may have been a huge blessing for these women. The difference in their performances and abilities between the beginning of 2020 and 2022 is huge. They are SOOOO polished now. And Ale doesn't look like a girl anymore...definitely...The stage now has 3 giant talents on stage and now it really shows. Pau is now the best singer that drums that I have personally EVER seen, especially one that beats the crap out of her kit.

You commented for me and I couldn’t have said it better. They must have practiced constantly during COVID and I’ve also noticed Ale not only grew up but came back a little less shy. I kinda think the fact she is the shy sister is enduring and you get the full spectrum with the ladies. From the power house that is Pau who can still move you to tears and get moved to tears from fan reaction or the energy of Dany, to the driving groove yet shy bass player Ale.

As a soundman from the seventies and eighties, the ground stacks in a reflective room looked very familiar. The improvement in PA from that time is the quality of the full range cabinets (top of the stack), a slight reduction in the amount of mids and highs splattering off the ceiling due to "line array" performance (but the array isn't really tall enough). The use of IEM's saves the day, since the vocals and other sounds aren't bouncing around the stage and out to the room from stage wedges. This room gave me the heebie-jeebies just looking at it. Kudos to Lalo for pulling it off - possibly a white-knuckle ride.

We have always known it is there because people fly thousands of miles from all over the world to come to Mexico for some of their bigger shows. The biggest things that sets these ladies apart is their songwriting abilities and the way they perform live. The fact they had this ability at such a young age is mind boggling bc creating good music from nothing isn't easy and it puts you in a very vulnerable position as an artist. These ladies carry themselves with a lot of confidence, maturity, and professionalism at their shows and they also exude so much energy that watching them just makes me happy. Fil, great video, one thing I would like to clarify, as one of the organisers of the show, we didn't object to people taking photos (we perhaps weren't clear on this as there were a few people who thought the same). As we had it professionally videoed we didn't want people recording it themselves where you just have a wall of phones at the front where everyone's stood still, not singing along or clapping or providing atmosphere to the show, and also blocking the view for everyone behind them and the majority of people respected that and I think that really helped to make it such an incredible show.

Thank you Phill! I really wanted to know your thoughts about the show.
Authenticity and honesty...exactly!! As musicians primarily, but also as people, as a proyect and on every level, every aspect...
At first I thought just the opposite, like so much jumping, gestures and show put me off a little...I thought like "pure gimmicks" but then...well, they're playing...and then another song and liked it, and many, and so solid...then interviews, etc. I got so convinced they write and arrange everything and are so honest. Also very open about when they got any help or trick, backing tracks, their tricks and hacks...just honest.
I remember on one interview: "that effect by Pau's backing...!" - "oh, no, that's actually a backing track that we recorded prior..." Lol...
    _______________________________
BACKING TRACKS. You said it so well "for embellishment". They don't rely on them and have played many times songs without any. Hard to tell exactly when (cause most people just don't even notice!... and they have so so many gigs in the bag already) but just from the top of my head right now....
A few examples of playing WITHOUT BACKING TRACKS:
==> At EL CHOPO, Mexico City (CDMX) they played Dull Knives and Unmendable, they really blew the stage with a very small drum kit (no double pedal for DK), no backings, no stems, no click, no computer or anything...
==> KOOL AID KIDS at Teatro Metropólitan CDMX, first date August 26, 2022. Sounded incredible! You don't miss anything.
==> On the first part of the Mayday tour, US leg (I can't recall where exactly, probably one of the first dates...). They were playing EVOLVE when the electricity went out, then the backup power source took over immediately but lights went out for a second and the track stopped...they just kept on like nothing (Dany led the move here, never stopped and gave sisters a strong go on look 💪🤘).
There must be many more like these...
    __________
==> There's also things like when they were supporting Three Days Grace and played CHOKE with TDG's guitarist Barry Stock on 2 dates without backing tracks (one is on Barrie, Ontario with two guitars and the other was with only one guitar and Dany just vocals)... sounded amazing.
Similar one when they played NARCISISTA with Jay de la Cueva on guitar (NYC i think).
==> Other cases are like when Pau played NARCISISTA on her master class for "Sound Check Expo" just drums and vocals with no backing tracks, and no click.
The same goes for the many many times they've played acoustic or rather semi-acoustic.
    ________________
Another kind of thing is like... AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE NOTICING THIS!!!! But I believe towards the end of ERROR, after the binary code slowing down, there is no click (nor tracks) from then on.
They have that flexibility like on the begining of Z when Pau starts with that drum beat without click or tracks which she starts with the far left midi pedal, usually over a sibling look and/or a countdown by Dany.
Likewise, on the extended version of DISCIPLE Pau stops the track (far right midi pedal) for the interlude of the ohohohohoh's crowd interaction...at some point Dany starts the lead guitar line/riff and later (usually) Dany tells Pau with a look to resume the track (left midi pedal), or Pau just starts it....
Wow, only one of three topics, and soooo loooong already!!!
    ....ok, i'm done.
I thought this'd be very interesting to some...
    ......
........ just need some stamina to read this long ....lol.✂️

I was peripherally aware of them, but I had it in my mind that they were gonna be a Queensryche clone, just based on the name (vis a vis Godsmack / Alice in Chains). What I saw and heard instead was 3 hot AF young chicks doing a pretty unique sounding heavy pop, dressed like they raided Pearl Jam's closets. Listening and watching my brother play in his bands taught me about those sounds. I miss live bands so much.

Perfect and timely explanation of the acoustics for me. I recently got to see them live for the first and second time at their last two shows on the U.S. tour in Baltimore then Philadelphia the next night. In Baltimore I was 2nd row about directly in front of Ale. I noticed right away the guitar and lead vocals seemed way harder to hear than I expected. It was the same way for the 2 opening bands. The next night in Philly, we were 2nd row just to Dany's right side and the difference in overall sound was night and day. The guitar and vocals were so much clearer, but no difference in the great sound of the bass and drums. Your explanation of why that occurred was perfect. Even my wife said all 3 bands sounded 1000 times better that night. I have watched a couple of fan videos from Baltimore filmed from a more central position and no doubt it was all just my position. I still wouldn't change a thing about either of those nights though. I always say I need to watch every video of their performances 3 times, just to focus on each of them individually for how uniquely entertaining in their own way each of them is. And when Ale came out in her AC/DC shirt that I had been silently hoping for in the weeks leading up to this it was a special bonus. Those two nights have been the highlight of my year.

Caught the show in May from a seat in the mezzanine level at theater with a SRO floor capacity of about 700. Two very large PA speaker cabs were suspended from the ceiling 20 feet from and facing the Mezzanine. Didn't have any problem hearing any of the vocals or instruments as those two ceiling units were pumping out
198 db mono by my measurements.
Kick drum and snare drum came in loud and clear. The kick sounded a bit on the bright side. 🙉😆

Just today I saw an Instagram live that Dany did in May 2020 explaining the operation of his Helix LT Line 6, (she currently uses the Kemper pedal live) and with the Helix he said that he assigned to an external wha wha pedal, being able to use two frequencies at the same time when pressing the pedal, one in a normal tone and another one with a lower tone, so together they look like 2 guitars and it gives more body to the sound, apart from the fact that it uses the sound of the amplifier live plus the left PA and right PA and with everything together it sounds more enveloping

The Warning's connections in the music industry through parentage has almost certainly helped, but they have a lot of talent, and deserve their success. The music scene needs bands like this to be successful to make people - fans as well as the industry in general - look beyond the generic radio friendly stuff that dominates the charts. There's certainly a place for that kind of music, and it's always been there, but anyone prepared to scratch beneath that very thick surface knows there's so much more out there.

@@scottjohnson5955 They are 3 sisters who were paid for music lessons since they were kids, they were assigned specific instruments so that between the three sisters they could put together a band. The girls' father (Luis Villarreal) is a shareholder in a recording studio. Their uncle was a friend of a producer (Rudy Joffroy) from an agency (Creative Dreams) who made the contact and invited him to his house to meet the girls. From there, the father became their manager and the agency (the father's friend) has done all the promotion and contacts for them. They designed all the graphic art, videos, music editing, etc. They had professional help from the beginning. (they were kids back then).

The only thing I would disagree with, is that my understanding is they chose there own instruments. Especially the two older girls, I’m not as certain about Ale. However in my opinion I don’t think that she was forced to play just probably convinced by her sisters to play bass so they could be a band.

@@scottjohnson5955 It's clear there's a lot more going on than just "three plucky sisters who funded their dreams of stardom through Patreon!" There is obviously a lot of corporate backing involved, not to mention their parents go on tour with them - after only a couple of years of touring this band is already so successful that their parents don't need to work any more? Not likely.

@@bustervoodoo8125It is not really a secret that they come from a moderately wealthy background. With Professional dual income parents. Kickstarter along whole foods pretty much financed their first album. Hence the credit Whole Foods gets on their video. Patreon income is monthly fee and it is estimated at minimum 15000 to 26000 a month. 2014 launched them with a viral video the 2017 TedX was a massive success at gaining patrons that coincided with their first album. 2018 their second album paid for itself and they hold all rights to both. Lava only sponsored error. Hell I think their tour bus was sponsored by Monterrey businesses.
Yes most of the rest is more or less correct. They did a lot of private shows early for donors. The Whiskey being the best known.
They have been emphasizi g how fortunate they were with family, friends and fans since 2016. Rudy found they already had a Social Media campaign going when he got there, concentrating on You Tube and Patreon. So yes they benefited greatly being from a well educated and prosperous extended family. Never been a secret. They were late to tictoc and huge part of their fan base doesn't know or care whhat it is. probably has hurt them in yoinger demographics.

I recently saw a rig rundown with Dani and they do run Ableton from a computer which Pau is in control of. I imagine the occasional synth tone is generated from there but they also use Ableton to change Dani's pedals (which is a Line6 Helix). This enables Dani to concentrate on other things, particularly the physical part of the show. I don't know if they use it for any kind of guitar auto-mixing but it makes sense for things like lead boosts. I also noticed on some of the more recent recordings that there is a doubling effect on the rhythm guitar that really adds. It also shows just how well rehearsed they are to be able to sync everything up.

Hey! I was there, just for the evening show. I missed out on the original kickstarter, but I gather those VIPs got their monies worth. This was the first time I'd seen TW live, and my first gig in years, but it was awesome. Came away on a high.
Nit pick: Bush Hall isn't actually in Uxbridge. It's on the Uxbridge Road in Shepherd's Bush.
Anyway, as I said it was great. I have enjoyed your technical comments, nice to get a pros views on things. Interesting point on authenticity as there is an element of theatre to The Warning's performance e.g. Dany's gestures as she sings the songs, like the thumbs up she gives for, "Here's your star for good behaviour!" That said, I don't think this makes The Warning less authentic, their songs tell a story and an element of theatricality adds to the song, helps bring it to life.
Very cool you've been invited to the Islington gig. Looking forward to your interview wioth the band.
