They've come a long way, from the future 2ne1-pinkpunk hype, things they went through as trainees, their rookie days and now as an international girlgroup shows that they deserve all the success they have, individually and as a group. This definitely represents YG music.
I’m a 1st kpop head. YGE has always been my style. And this definitely was YGE classic type og vibes. Made me fucking excited. Their album is amazing. But this song showcased the direction they want to go. I feel like this reset is more of them taking control of themselves and their music. So much more individuality but so cohesive with their brand style. And of course they always take it to another level.
I LOVE that they are referencing all their old M/V's in this song and M/V...
Shut Down... don't forget where we came from but WE ARE STILL HERE, still on top and turning the page to a NEW CHAPTER.

It's good their sound has evolved now as they've got older.I think that's what makes them stand out from other groups and no disrespect for the others there are some fantastic new groups around. I love how they're not afraid to try new things, and despite what people seem to think they do have a lot of input to their music now, they've said so in various interviews.
I've also noticed that the theme with the haters seems to be blame Teddy for everything, and they need to get others in because he's run out of ideas etc. I guess the fact that he's not even involved in four of the tracks on the album doesn't fit their agendas.

Did you see every scene had references to their music videos? Even down to the shot of Lisa’s foot during her first rap.. so good. The girls are spitting on this album I’m very excited.
I wasn't sold with Pink Venom (still a grower) but this song had me from first listen. I already listen to the whole album😭 they killed this comeback. I feel like Rosé is really feeling this concept, Lisa thrives on swaggy concepts, main rapper Jennie is back, and Jisso's flow and confidence is so good❤️🔥 hopefully not another 2 years for the next comeback, but I'm past satisfied with this one.

The violin sample is from Lizst's La Campanella, which as a violinist, you would know the melody is based on Paganini's violin concerto. Unexpected but quite cool, yes!
Love this! I absolutely agree with what you're saying. Very on point. This feels like an homage to everything they've done, praising their well deserved accolades, while also marking the start of a completely new area, a restart. And I think this also feels like a song that's not trying to appeal to anyone but themselves. Like they're not trying to do anything but make good music they enjoy. The whole album sounds very fresh.

Great take, and also cool comparison between styles of YG and SM. Blackpink sounds the best when it reminds me of wet roads, night, with the taste of crime in the air. Like a great urban heist movie. And this one just blasts that vibe for me. Good to finally have them back!

New NMIXX called DICE; trippy as hell and actually like the other 2 but in a good way
It's like they're at the zenith of their powers. All their iconic moments are now visually black and/or pink; Jenni in black for the match scene, in a black bathtub with a black match and pink flame, the black/pink earth from Whistle, Lisa's truck scene all black and pink, Jisoo's umbrella now pink with black lines instead of black and it's raining money instead of sparks, Rose's black car from Kill This Love is now a pink Lamborghini and the chandelier is now black, Lisa's samurai sword is now black and pink and she doesn't even have to swing it to be a record-breaker (notice that the colour of the 'record' is black and pink, and it has their signature backwards C, suggesting the only records they need to break are ones set by themselves). They're stronger now so they can shut the door on that past era. They have also put up their black pink tape and posters all over 'Your Area' in the street scene. The only way for them to go is 'Up', which is what they do at the end of the video. They enter the elevator into the fresh white space which will have new iconic moments waiting to be unleashed and 'shut down' next. My favourite song and music video from BlackPink!

the PINK VENOM and SHUT IT DOWN are basically not the typical BLACKPINK that will all knew. We are so used of heavy EDMS of kpop. These songs are out of the comfort zone of BLINKS. Some, if not most, these two will never be their cup of tea. But these types of music/beat/genre are already existing in a very long time. Anti drops already existed since forever. It's just a matter of experimentation. It's up to music producer how and when they'll gonna play with the instruments/beats. And if you are someone who is not open minded with other types of music/genres (mixed in 1 song) PINK VENOM and SHUT IT DOWN will never be your vibe.
And if you are not a YG stan, then let me tell you this is THE CLASSIC YG. YG is the master of HIPHOP in kpop. There should be no questions regarding these two songs if you are a YG stan.
