I did 10 yrs as an AT (Avionics Tech), and the last 11 yrs on the O side. I'm basically a maintenance officer. Not glamours but I'm happy and proud of my service. Never had the urge to lie about my service.

Right. Id be 1, proud 2, embarrassed for fighting for these idiots that rule us. Ultimately proud. It's not about them it's about protecting the normal person and our rights. I'm so proud of any Allie to UK who puts their life on the line, so proud.
It's always the older insecure dudes who have to make up the bullshit because they feel they never earned their "man card" so its typical for them, to say they were team guys. You can see it in their whiny tones. My brothers active in the teams right now, and although he loves it, its nothing like its portrayed in the media/movies. #1 not every seal can fight like bruce lee #2 team guys can still get their ass whooped if they dont train mma on the outside #3 my brother hates going to civilian shooting ranges because of the unrealistic expectations dudes have if they find out hes in the teams - contrary to the misconceptional belief: seals are not perfect shooters ( Aside from most Damneck/devgru guys). Being a SEAL is a job - as with any job in the world there are people who excel at certain things and are worse at other things. There are guys in the teams who my brother has seriously questioned how they made it through selection. and if youre going to be a scumbag and lie to chicks, you may as well tell them you were a doctor (saying youre a seal only impresses other dudes unless youre in SD or little creek but chicks would find out within 10 minutes in both these areas)

I've watched you for a long time, Don. It still bothers me that the ones who actually served can't just be proud of their job and have to make up stories. I'm proud to have served as an HM1 and although I had dreams of being a Team guy or other Tier 1 operator in another branch, I'm happy to have done the job I did

I was a seal feeder at Marine World. It was brutal...getting the chum scent washed out
I also served aboard the Enterprise. A few guys named Kirk, Spock and McCoy were with me. I can't really talk about the rest of it other than to say we explored some strange new worlds and sought out new civilizations...we basically boldly went where no man has gone before.

Oh yeah, I remember the Raytheon toilet paper on that ship that would tear anyone arse to pieces if they chose to use it. There was a claymore in every sheet and activate on impact when it hit the 💩🕳️.
I served on the Tactical Cube 138, joined the Borg right out of H.S., ran into a recruiter and he was really persuasive. They were a little fanatical for my taste and eventually I went AWOL. You just can't talk to some people. That's probably why they got blown up.

What annoyed Don seemed to be when he heard the Seals needed an OS for anything. As Don was in that area of conflict between Iraq and Iran he took that as a personal insult to him and his boys that they would need to call in stolen valour, or anyone for that matter, to help them out.
My dad was on the USS Guadalcanal in the 70’s. He was a CH-53 crew chief. He retired after 20 years. I’m so proud of my dad.

I served as a kitchen door gunner at Burger King and the amount of buns I witnessed being binned still gives me nightmares, my senior officer demanded me to shut up and keep cooking but suffer in silence. I struggle to this day about my experiences. Thank you Don for the exposure of these clowns.
My first tour of duty was trash detail at Hardee's. Those snipers were after me every time I headed out to the dumpster. I still have nightmares too. I feel ya bro... It's funny how that clown was crawfishing....

I was an Army Specialist 4 way back when. Our son became a Navy officer and earned his flight wings. He asked me if I would pin his wings on him at Pensacola Naval Air Museum. Having served as commander of our local American Legion post I wore my American Legion uniform. I was sitting next to my son when they presented The Colors. It was a huge honor for both of us to salute the flag side by side before I pinned his wings on him. You can be an Army Specialist and be happy with that, you never know what the future will bring!

I went through Army basic in 1986 and I can name a half dozen guys from that.
My grandpa has passed away but when he was still alive he could tell you the serial # off the M1 he carried while he fought in Korea.

Contact these people first by telling them you are with a “special seal appreciation team” and that they are invited to an awards ceremony online and it’s just you laying into them. Tell them to wear their best uniform they have.

@CARL RAY SEALS were in peak condition to say the least. Seems some troops show up with minimal training and struggle. The National Guard, Reserve, ROTC seemed to have it the worse. My platoon had been continously training for about 5 months by the time we got to jump school. In AIT our First Sergeant had us run 1/2 marathons twice a week. The 5 mile run at jump school ended up not being much of a challenge, we were more than ready.

For the life of me, I can't fathom why someone has so little self-respect for themselves (and others) that they have to do the "Stolen Valor" thing. I served 22 years in the Army Reserves. Two Call-ups, but no overseas service and never heard a shot fired in anger. I've never regretted not being "in country"; I just did what I was told to do, and went where I was told to go. And that was enough for me. Shaking my head......

Don I was on USS Enterprise during the 82/83 work ups and deployment. I have no memory of actually transiting the straits we spent a few months on what was referred to as Gonzo station in the Indian Ocean. This guy really bugs me. Thanks for what you do from a former AT1/USN.
I took care of my Marines in RVN as a corpsman. You guys helped those in charge help map out the shit that we had to meet. Thanks for the Seals and thanks for the Marines..Doc

I graduated USMC boot camp in 2004 which is only 3 months and while difficult, certainly not to the extent of BUD/S training. I can still name my drill instructors, and a large portion of my class. I can't imagine going through what they do and not remembering anyone. Still don't know why someone who served would feel the need to make up stories like this. Some of my best stories are times where we were in training or off duty anyway.

As a former navy nerd I wish people like this would just be honest about their service
I served way back in 1974 on board the USS Independence, CV-62 and worked in the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department. It wasn't an exciting job but I enjoyed playing a part in keeping the birds flying. Left the Navy in 1978 as a AZ2, again noting special!
I also served in AIMD. I was on board the USS Enterprise, CVN-65. I was an AX, and I helped keep the fleet safe by making sure the ASW gear was operating correctly (and fixing it when it wasn't). Again, nothing special, but I'll brag about it to anyone who wants to listen. :D. The military isn't full of tier 1 operators. There are regular people who keep the wheels going, so those guys can get the job done. It's a team effort, and anyone who served knows this.
Mark, I got out in 88 as a 2nd class AZ as well, the most excitement I had implementing technical pub changes and scheduling inspections and high time component changes! LOL!!!

My Grandfather was is the Australian Navy for 35 years! He was that guy that walked in & out with the Admirals, commodores, ect & never wore a Uniform. He was Chief of the Store for years, which is the largest Store in the Southern Hemisphere. Anything from womens socks to a Battle ship was OK'd, Bought & Paid for at his approval!
I had a CW4 Chief Warrant officer that was like that…. He ran the ship like he was the Captain… he was older and had been in the Navy longer than any of the Captains. He loved being on the bridge running the ship. He brought along a Master Chief to run his department while he played Captain of the ship.

I serve my country on the USS Mullinex DD944 as an operations specialist in the CIC better known as combat information center. I was not a Navy seal and highly admire those guys and you’re very great service I’m also proud that I was part of the US military.
I was an MM2, and I knew some OSes, including one OS1 that used to argue philosophy with me. None of the OSes I knew were SOT. And none of them were Seals. I did know a BT2 that tried for BUDS school, but he rang the bell.

I did a job nobody cares about and it wasn't sexy at all. I'm still super proud of it though. I know I did my part to help keep the fleet safe by supporting the Airborne Anti Submarine Warfare platforms. I was an AX (which is now AT - AQ and AX merged into AT in the 90s) and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I never served anything but Prison sentences, I know how that sounds but that is how I heard of navy seals in the first place, read Roy Boehm and Richard Marcinko books, in a way I was inspired to be a better person, because of those guys fortitude and toughness. Don has helped me expose two fake assholes who found there way into my life. I’ve always respected those who serve in the military… Even if you were a cook on a ship or in some mess hall somewhere… you had the guts to sign your name on a dotted line for four years of your life. That’s worth something. Men like Don Shipley make me push myself every day to try and be a little bit better at my job and as a person. To stare at challenges and work hard to overcome them and rise to a better level.
This is probably my favorite video so far, the guy got called out by a civilian. That's hilarious, numbnuts was actually a ship rag on a boat. You never hear of cooks, supply, admin or support but everyone was a delta ranger seal.
As a Marine Scout Sniper who endured BUDS 4 times & was an operational Seal, I can remember the days when I served alongside my fellow Delta Force pals telling them stories from the day we invaded normady. Was an amazing time

These make me happy, mad and sad all at once. Thanks for the content and thanks for your service. My grandfathers(and grandmothers) served in WWII and were lucky enough to die of natural causes. I know they never forgot the sacrifices others made for them to live long lives. Stealing valor makes you a joke of a human.

A SEAL training pin isn’t valor. In fact no training or rate is ‘valor’ .
Valor is given as a distinction for an award. The award can be an achievement medal with a V for valor….

A claim of ‘Stealing valor’ for something that doesn’t represent valor, is just as bad as stealing valor.
You are representing something as valor, when it doesn’t. A SEAL pin or training has nothing to do with valor.

Personally I think that should be changed, but then it would require very specific language (otherwise: one could make a case that lying should be illegal).
Off and On SEAL? I know a “Special Forces Sniper and as far as I understand your all in or nothing. I haven’t served and have all the upmost respect for all that have. I was an OS in the Navy. It can be a stressful job depending on what you do. Granted it is no special operator or tactical job though. I've been watching this channel and your previous channel for years and what is disturbing is how many of these guys seem to be the OS rating. I think the big Harley mechanic in Louisiana was an OS. It's really a rating that you can move up fairly well in. 6 years as an OS3 tells me there was a little issue there. No matter what just be proud of your service and what you did. Not everyone will do that.

I'm on Rhetty's channel and watch all his videos and that nickname does not apply to Rhetty. You should check out his channel. Good videos and he interacts with those who make comments. My brother was an OS3 in the 80s.He chose that job because it would transfer to SEALs.After being in for a bit he decided he did not want to make a career of it.He did serve on a strike destroyer hunting russian subs and was good at it.He is proud of his service and the job he did .He has been asked if he was a seal and he just laughs and says no.He also severed on security force on the ship.I rekon because he was from Kentucky and knew how to handle basic weapons.lolThe point is be proud of your service no matter what your job was as long as you came out honorably.

Well said!! Please thank him for his service! I work with a Marine thats out and in his 30s now. He was just some sort of records clerk, but he's super proud of his service AS HE SHOULD BE! I've been watching for a fair while. I have never served a day in the military, as I never met the requirements, but I have the utmost respect for those that do. Nowadays in my job, if someone says they were in the military, in the UK, they should have a red book, so I ask for that and verify with the MOD under a FOIA request....so far, I've caught 2 people in 2 years trying to gain employment with fake service on their records. Not a felony or a crime in the UK, however, when it happens, their name goes on to our parent companies records as a never to hire...which sucks for them as the parent company has quite a large chain of hotels, bars, pubs, etc in the UK.
I was in the Navy from 66-70. I served in Viet Nam for a total of 2years 10 months. My 1st year was aboard an old WWII LST and we ran supplies up and down the Delta. As well as up and down the Coast. My last 10 months I was an Advisor on a Swift Boat. The closest I came to a Seal was when we transported a squad to the Northern part of Phu Quak Island. They humped their way back to the Base.

Agree. With few exceptions I've noticed the guys who really saw the full horrors rarely talk about it - you usually only find out what they actually went through from third parties, or after they die when old mates talk about them.

i have the up most respect for my father, he was a cook in the navy during the vietnam conflict and he NEVER told me anything other than that, he was a cook, he told me about all the pranks they would do and crossing the equator, they were off shore in viet nam but he NEVER made it sound like he saw any action or even went ashore and i respect the hell out of him for that even more so because i went on to become an infantry marine and seeing how easily guys can twist their boring stories into war stories that they were never apart of just boils my blood. anyone out there who would think about lying to your kids to try and sound like a bad ass or spook them, just keep in mind they will eventually grow up and remember what you said and potentially catch you and which would you rather have....them remembering how yeah maybe your service wasnt as exciting as others but you at least told it straight and kept it honorable OR would you rather have them realizing their father or mother lied about what they did to try and sound more cool than they were.

Awesome. My Favorite Uncle served 25 years thru Korea and Vietnam. He was a cook/baker. He was Sooooo proud to serve and feed the men. He told -0- stories other than cooking stories. So proud of him. Ur dad too.
My dad never talked about his enlisted service in WWII… I didn’t even know he received a half dozen medals for 35 combat missions until years after his death. He did stay in touch with and met with his bomber group members, which went on to sponsor a B17 that still is flying. (I’m flying on it next week).
WWII was really bad… I served… oddly I just figured out I was deployed with Shipley. When some people say, um… I can’t say what I did, they might actually be telling the truth. Some of what I did was super silly… and I can’t talk about it. This entire thing about stolen valor bothers me… because what they call valor, isn’t valor at all.
Calling a SEAL training pin valor is as silly as calling an Air warfare, Surface warfare, or Submarine warfare pin ‘valor’… It bothers me because by doing it, they are actually committing stolen valor. Calling SEAL trying valor is like calling Marine basic training valor…

I'm a retired Army tank commander and I remember probably half the guys I went to basic/AIT with in August 1982 through Dec 1982, that's only 5 months. This guy never stepped foot in SEAL school. This is the best way to tell when someone is lying!!

Every unit I went to I was placed on the Company Commander's tank for some reason. Except my first unit the first time I went to Germany in '83. It was in Gelnhausen, Germany . "Men of War" they're in the 3rd Armored Division. It was great! Mainly because the Deutsche Mark rate was @2.80 Marks for $1.00!! lol
My paycheck went a long way back then. The second time I went in '87 the Mark rate had tanked. It was around 1.70
Anyways...I had a good time my entire career. I'd do it again in half a heart beat.
I have a mental disorder that makes it difficult to remember certain things but even my self who can’t remember where he put us wallet/keys/phone every hr remembers the names of several dozen people I served with.

I drove deuce 1/2 then M113 then M577 command center APC. That's the tall version APC. Then like you, off to Germany, they said pigtown but it changed and they sent me to Berlin. I had no idea it was 110 miles behind iron curtain. 82/83. I was given the job of ammo sgt for one if the 3 infantry battalions. Like you, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I remember the people I worked with at a grocery story ten years ago and I know if I was a special forces operator in the US Navy, I would remember the names even more clearly of those I served with. I will say my life isn’t flashy but I have enough respect for myself to NEVER make up serving in any armed forces.

I love watching all of these and I've subscribed to the website, too. Honestly, psychology classes should use these in their studies. It's fascinating how some people have absolutely no fear whatsoever of lying, inventing stories, etc. These types of personalities are really common in the medical field, among patients who are (falsely) seeking disability, malingering, etc.
For me personally, the trait I've picked up on the most (and it's also common in these videos) is how pathological liars absolutely cannot stop talking, especially when questioned. It's like they just spew "word vomit" of made up stories and details, hoping it overwhelms you into not questioning them any further.
