I've searched for years for this..not knowing the name...not even remembering the lyrics...just the rhythm and beat with the animation style...now...now I have found it...after...so...long...
right? showed this to my mother when it first aired and i was loving the cute video and my mother said don't ever listen to that again now i know why lol
I'm here because I love Osaka Popstar with all my heart, but if you're new here/came from Nintendo, remember this is originally by Daniel Johnston and he's cool too ! If you like this check him out, him and John Cafiero (the singer here, super cool guy, worked with the Misfits and the Ramones) were good friends and also sang a song together called Man of Constant Sorrow :) Rest easy Daniel
I'm here for the same reasons but Nintendo Video has been discontinued due to all the adult content they put on there... I don't see why though considering it said you had to be 13 years of age or older to view the content
At least kids around the world found out of Bee and Puppycat and Braviest Warriors! ...and also CollegeHumor...but the Dinosaur office wasn't even bad!
I came here from an ad in a music forum when this was released, and wondered why Jerry Only was in an anime-flavored pop-punk band. What was this Nintendo thing?
@@pryingeyes1551 when the nintendo 3ds was first released, it offered a service called nintendo video. This would be a showcase of 4 videos, which could be cartoons, shorts based off games (I remember it was kid icarus: uprising, Kirby right back at ya, and pikmin), and music videos like this one. Sadly, the service was cut and lost, leading to nostalgia over the service. This video, and the music video for their song "insects" were videos that were seen on nintendo video.
Ima be honest this band fucking rocks. Also i remember this from Nintendo video i wonder how it got on there to be honest i bet one of the employees must of have been a fan of them or something.
For those who does not know this is a song by Daniel Johnston. His documentary The Devil And Daniel Joshnton is awesome. This is a terrific cover :) I love it. I love the way the bass sounds.
I love this video so much I started to sleeve my right arm with Devil Dogs and threw in Fish Heads and the Hopping Ghost! Next stage is the cheerleaders from here and John/Jerry/Marky all in floating bubbles being chased by Shaolin Monkeys lol
Jake Belmont Yeah I know, but the original version just doesn't fit my taste. It however does receive credit as this wouldn't exist without the original.
I'm pretty sure this wasn't Nintendo themselves and someone who worked there and organized which videos got put in Nintendo video. There probably wasn't much verification for the worker to get it there
You know how hard it is to find this song. I literally had to describe every little bit of this music video and google/ TH-cam could not show me this. I had to trace backwards to Nintendo video and finally found it.
Earlier today I thought of that insect song this band made and thought "Wait, what was that bands name? I actually really liked their music." Then, after a whole day of searching, I finally found em again.
The first, and only time I was able to find this song was on my Nintendo 3ds. This music video was on a little video playing app that would only show a new video once a week or so and could only hold four at a time. Once that week was up, it was gone. Weird music video for little kids to watch.
not sure if you know, but if you just put "repeat" in front of "youtube" in the URL then it'll go to a website that will automatically loop the video. Thought you'd be interested to know
@numb19029 Pop punk actually has been around since the original era of punk with bands such as Bad Religion and the Buzzcocks even The Ramones made a song that would fit into this subgenre called "I wanna be your boyfriend" I'm not sure what your question is by the way
so let me get this straight the bass from the misfits, the drumer in the ramones(Marky), and dez from black flag is in this band? I think im missing one hes a black guy and hes not in this video. Ivan from the voidoids. Who is the singer from?
a little weirded out by all the nintendo comments...here because punk rock fan and have seen this band live...did anyone else notice the similarities between the beginning of this song and beginning of bad religion "stranger than fiction"?
@numb19029 The Ramones were the original punks, and their stuff is not whatever kind of "hard" you're looking for. See also: The Clash, The Sex Pistols. BONUS FACT: Johnny Rotten was once afraid to meet the Ramones because he thought they'd beat him up. Hardcore.
Atrocious? I... Nope. You're wrong. I think you're missing the point of the song. From my knowledge it's based off of a Daniel Johnston song which you can look up which you might like more, but it's a tad more unnerving and "real" feeling as opposed to the fun and energy behind this version.
Theres nothing wrong with this per se, but it's the kind of thing all involved would have flat out dissed before they decided they needed the money. Ironically, it's better than anything else that any of the members are currently involved in.
I've searched for years for this..not knowing the name...not even remembering the lyrics...just the rhythm and beat with the animation style...now...now I have found it...after...so...long...
It has been so long..
I forgot about it until today
Can't believe this was one of the songs on the Nintendo video app thingy.
Sirus Blenke nintendo video?..me too lmao
Yep, I FUCKING LOVE THIS!!
Hell yeah, Nintendo video gang
right? showed this to my mother when it first aired and i was loving the cute video and my mother said don't ever listen to that again now i know why lol

I never thought a band consisting of members of the misfits, ramones, and black flag are now singing about astro boy...
I'm a giant fucking weeb and gamer. I also love punk rock and heavy metal.
My 3ds brought me here like 3 months ago
God bless you Daniel Johnston
Honestly ever since I saw this on my 3ds I liked this song so much! Although Nintendo putting this song on Nintendo video just doesn't seem right...
Same. But I seriously don't get it, ipwhy did Nintendo allow this on their device? It says in the song somewhere "we don't believe in god".
I'm here for the same reasons but Nintendo Video has been discontinued due to all the adult content they put on there... I don't see why though considering it said you had to be 13 years of age or older to view the content

@@Between-7and9 Only “adult” content I remember from Nintendo Video is the trailer for Resident Evil: Underworld (I think)
I think Llamas with Hats and Charlie the Unicorn also winded up on there lol
what's sad is that when I first heard this song on my 3ds, I didn't know it was talking about religion and stuff
I think almost everybody came from Nintendo
Daniel Johnston brought me here. Look him up!

For me, everyone was watching that song straight from my Nintendo 3DS.
Perfect nostalgia, isn't it?
Came and stayed. This is an underrated af band

I listened to this song all day long 12 years ago! I’m crying 😭
This song is over a decade old now. No matter how old this is I'll always love this
For those who does not know this is a song by Daniel Johnston. His documentary The Devil And Daniel Joshnton is awesome. This is a terrific cover :) I love it. I love the way the bass sounds.
my fav nintendo video ended up being a daniel johnston song....funny how ur life wraps back on itself
Excellent!
this is my first time listening to osaka and i must say that im not disappointed at all.
I love this video so much I started to sleeve my right arm with Devil Dogs and threw in Fish Heads and the Hopping Ghost! Next stage is the cheerleaders from here and John/Jerry/Marky all in floating bubbles being chased by Shaolin Monkeys lol
I can't believe they left out that this is a Daniel Johnston cover!
I remember before it came out they were very clear about/proud of doing a Dan song. Maybe the poster figured everybody should know that by now?
Thanks, Tom from Myspace!
Nintendo let them put a song about people sinning and saying they don't believe in God. That just doesn't seem Nintendo-ish.
ikr
its a cover of a daniel johnston song. look him up, and you'll understand. hes a fascinating person

@@ianscottorosano214 Daniel was a devout Christian though, as far as the song’s subject matter…
i remember being in nyc a week after this came out and i got it not knowing what to expect and i lisened to it non stop :)
Awesome song, amazingly well done video, I love it.
You know how hard it is to find this song. I literally had to describe every little bit of this music video and google/ TH-cam could not show me this. I had to trace backwards to Nintendo video and finally found it.
Same here, Nintendo has some great taste in music most of the time
So catchy and what a fun video.

Just me apparently. I don't know about the Nintendo connection.
Haha. This is hilarious. I love it
Daniel Johnston wrote this song. Find him.
Underrated song
that vid kicks ass, lol
The simple fact that I found out about this on a Nintendo handheld console is... disturbing to say the least.
Osaka PopStar is pretty fucking awsome in concert i've got to say.
Deez nuts need to make another album. Loved it, and waiting
I watch this music video on my Nintendo 3DS on Nintendo video.

This is a Daniel Johnston song, and it it spelled Michale Graves. And yes, Both are badassessesssss

@Biffenstein1 thats pretty sweet if your telling the truth jerry has been my idol for like 5 years
@PIECEOFSHITKID thats cool, and i am being totally honest man haha but he hardly even gets to see jerry cuz he's always touring and stuff
Oh, shit!

@1065360 sure dude!! marky, tommy, and C.J are still ALIVE!!!
Daniel Johnston! Everyone please hear the original of this song.
prepare for the "My 3DS brought me here!" comments. It's not a bad thing (my 3ds brought myself here), but you know...it's starting.
are Jerry & Dez on this track?
My 3DS brought me here! :P
@RebelPossum my mind has been fucked..... Need misfits..... need ramones
he directed some of the misfits videos
oh god, Kawaii overdose
The lyrics are fucking atrocious
I'd like to see you write a song.
The lyrics are based on an old folk song!
Atrocious? I... Nope. You're wrong.
I think you're missing the point of the song. From my knowledge it's based off of a Daniel Johnston song which you can look up which you might like more, but it's a tad more unnerving and "real" feeling as opposed to the fun and energy behind this version.
Skullkan6 Oh wow. My opinion is wrong? Shit. Im so sorry. Lets me more factual. The lyrics are nonsensical gibberish.
Guy Dude They're from someone who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder, what did you expect? If you didn't know that, now you do.
@PIECEOFSHITKID yup! pretty awesome haha
I knew about this because Marky Ramone is the drummer.

This music video's animation is just from a classic anime animations
@Biffenstein1 that means doyles his uncle to then right?
