This is in Lisa's top five video's. It's one of the best I've seen; I never get tired of it. I wish she would use this model more often - she's beautiful.
I love how educated you were about Bollywood and gave us some background info before the tutorial! I respect you so much for doing that! The model looked stunning btw:)
Thank you, Lisa, for using an actual South Asian model for this look, and not being offensive and appropriative. It's so hard to find beauty gurus online that are educated to social issues and sensitive to how to show makeup looks from around the world without being bigoted and ignorant. THANK YOU. PS. PLEASE BRING THIS MODEL BACK. She is heartbreakingly gorgeous and it's so good to see models of color on your channel!
This model is so beautiful that I think I actually teared up a bit at the end haha. The eyeshadow and winged liner suit her big, beautiful eyes SO well!
I love how you covered up her hyperpigmentation and still it looks so natural. I had great skin before but I had a bad breakout for the last two months and my hyperpigmentation made me lose confidence. This has totally given me hope though.
Even if they aren't applicable to me at all, being a pasty girl of nordic extraction who can't even find a foundation with a pale enough tone in local stores, I love watching your tutorials for darker skintones. I love seeing the way different colours pop against warm dark tones in a way they might not on white skin. The way bronzes, golds and blacks blend and make the eyes pop is beautiful. It's also just stimulating and inspiring as an artist to see diverse faces, really. Your model was gorgeous :)
Ahhh this is beautiful! As an Indian, all wedding makeup tends to be extremely heavy on the eyes and a cake face- it's beautiful to see your take on it. Wonderful yet again Lisa xx
I agee! Actually I have created a Bollywood Pinterest Board and have posted some pictures of Jodhaa Akbhar ... I too love the costumes and jewellery Aishwayra Rai is wearing - absolutely stunning (especially the bright yellow outfits) X
Devdas 2002 film was actually a recreation. It was originally a bengali novel. The first HINDI devdas came out in 1936 then again in 1955 then FINALLY in 2002. There are others adaptations ranging from the Bengal state all the way to Malayalam to Urdu to Assamese. It's one of my favorite novels, and if anyone can read Bengali, I highly recommend reading the original story because it really captures the travesty of Deva and Paro's star crossed love and Chandramukhi's yearning for Deva's attention. Loved the makeup look, as it was essentially very "Bollywood"! Please PLEASE look into bengali bridal inspired makeup and do recreation of it, because I think with your artistry, Lisa, I believe you can do something exquisite! Giving lots of love and support! :D
Nalintha is, hands-down, absolutely stunning!! I was just mesmerized by her the first time I watched this and had to go back and watch again for the makeup! Beautiful look as always, Lisa!
Wow. So beautiful. I have never watched a Bollywood film but now I want to see that one. I truly love your channel. No other youtube beauty person comes up with so many different looks and provides so much inspiration and knowledge. Totally love it! Thanks for all your work here!
Super pretty and one of the best makeup turorials ever! Can you please do more tutorials on asian bridal makeups and bollywood? You are sooo professional! :)
This is, hands down, my favorite makeup video. I've seen it at least 20 times and I keep coming back to it. This look is so flawless and beautiful....glamorous yet not over the top.....simply amazing.
I shared this with my sister who just came back from a 4-month internship in India (Bombay/Pune area). This look is absolutely divine & truly brings out the natural beauty of Indian women. Thank you for sharing your talents with us, Lisa ! xox
Hi lisa. I am indian.. and i totally lovedddd this tutorial. Dola re dola song is an iconic song for it has two beautiful actors in one frame and then their is obviously huge elaborate mansion where they are dancing. I appreciate how wonderfully you recreated the look those ladies had on them.. I want to suggest you two more movies as those ones have stunning makeup looks throughout the movie.. one is deepika padukone's look in BAJIRAO MASTANI... and another one is Aishwarya rai's look in UMRAO JAAN.
i love having you here on youtube! not to say that self taught gurus aren't good but you are an actual professional giving her time to teach us and i really appreciate it
It's amazing that her lips look like she already has lip liner on them before you even apply lip liner!! She's absolutely stunning and this look is amazing, Lisa!! You're really the most talented artist!
Can't tell you how hooked I was on that film late one night, it popped on late night TV in Sydney. It really does get in your head, I watched Dola re Dola loads of times.
This is such a beautiful harmonious makeup. I love the way you've reflected the lovely shape of the model's brows with the winged liner.... Interesting and inspirational 💄
Seriously Lisa your work is incredible! I love how you use makeup. Your looks never seem over done and you never plaster faces with too much, rather using it to enhance features than alter them. Beautiful!
Can you do a video for Indian brides? Something that goes with the red dress and veil and that will survive the heat. Also, if you can give tips about how to take the look from day to night cause Indian weddings are so long!
I'm so happy you did this look from Devdas! I saw the original 1950s Devdas and the 2002 version which are so different, plus there is an even newer version called Devdi which is portrayed in a more modern way.
I love your videos!! Especially this one... It's hard to find videos for medium toned skin...I have one request Could you do a 1960s Sharmila Tagore look on the same model 😋
I love how you always have a back-story on your special tutorials! It makes them so much more interesting, even though the makeup itself is so fascinating! Just love your channel Lisa, thank you!! xxx
Gorgeous makeup, gorgeous model. All of your videos are such a treat, and I watch them over and over. I've been telling my teenaged daughters to watch your videos so they don't grow up making the same beauty mistakes that I did. You are so incredibly generous to make the tutorials and impart some of your knowledge and expertise to the rest of us. I tell everybody that I had no idea how to do a "smoky eye" or even how to smudge eyeliner before I started watching your videos. THANK YOU!
I love, love, love this! Lisa I have learned more from you in the past year than in my all my 25 years of wearing make-up! Thank you for producing all these inspired videos. You are a national treasure and bring so much beauty to the world!
Lisa, this look is wonderful! I really appreciate you using models of all ethnicities and ages in your videos. Everyone can learn something from you that will suit their skintone, and that is something that is much needed in the makeup and fashion industry. So thank you so much!
I'd like to request an iconic Bollywood makeup look from the film Mughaleazam, of the actress Madhubala. She looks beautiful and I always wanted to recreate that soft, subtle yet alluring look. I hope you do decide to do it!
I'm Indian and I want to start off by saying you did AMAZING! Your pronunciations were horrible (Let's just say, you've created some words of your own), but your video was just amazing! You did a great job at capturing the traditional yet Modern Indian look that you see many times at Indian films, weddings, and parties.
such a beautiful model. and then at the very end with finishing touches to eyelids (golden), i just gasped, it was so breathtaking. and then withe costume and everything, i just gasped again. absolutely gorgeous. magic.
The model is so gorgeous (as usual) i loved the look, having in mind that i have almost indian toned skind, with olive undertones it was very useful. Thank you Lisa!
actually she's quite wrong when she said that three hours is short for a bollywood film... on the contrary devdas was considered very long for a bollywood film of newer era.. the bollywood movies nowadays are range from being two to two and a half hours long... however, the movies from 50's and 60's era used to be long... devdas was released in 2002 so there is no comparision.. i know all this because i'm and indian and i grew up watching bollywood films from 50's 60's and the more recent ones :)
The scene that you're referring to in Devas is my favourite scene out of the entire movie. The dancing, signing, clothes, makeup and hair and the song itself is just amazing ... Really happy you watched that particular movie I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who is interested in "old" Bollywood
THIS makes me so happy as an indian girl into beauty and makeup i hardly ever see editorials/features and now videos that use indian girls and im so so SO happy that you as my favourite makeup artist of all has featured her. she's stunning and i cant wait to recreate this look x
I applaud anyone who values accuracy in their art. This was beautifully done
Who else agrees she should do a Bajirao Mastani inspired makeup tutorial?
Btw, the model here is gorgeous.
Yes! A deepika look would be amazing !
DEFINITELY! PLEASEE!! She is the ONLY one who would do justice to the beautiful bajirao mastani makeup looks!
I feel like watching it now! I sometimes try to do the moves around the house haha X
This is in Lisa's top five video's. It's one of the best I've seen; I never get tired of it. I wish she would use this model more often - she's beautiful.
I'm so happy that you did this on a Indian lady
Indian women are so pretty
FINALLY A BEAUTY GURU WHO ISNT OFFENSIVE!!!!
