1:26 I dont know if these are actually what the thing says but my guess: What, Why, Oh How? We ALWAYS take more (rubies) ,forever, Say the most follows owe us..
It's very interesting. There's no way to compare this to the original as "better" or "worse" . This one just feels ASMR-y, darker, more humid, with very well placed reverb. The original feels more whimsical, playful and magical. I love both.
2:35 I really love the reverbed breathing and the muffled sound effects through the telescope. It feels like the POV of a massive creature and the breathing is its organs. Makes sense considering the sub is a big ol' animal.
I'm glad you enjoyed that moment so much, was a really fun part to do and you felt exactly what I was intending people to feel, which of course makes me very happy. 😊
This is probably what it sounds like for the donk creatures, all the echoes in the plastic noises in the deep, dark enclosed void like cave, with no exit
Actually, almost every single sound is originally recorded and/or designed by myself! The only ones that aren't original recordings are droning background ambiance, the instrument at the beginning, and a few other generic sounds like some cheers before I edited them all to sound different.
i sync the sound ReDesign and the music together and it feels amazing! Having the music of donks and the sound Redesign at the same time look like a music video its half scary for some parts but also half awesome! Good job on making this mathieu pudleine! I could make a video about syncing the sound redesign and the music all together and see what it would look like
You do whatever you would like to do! I'm just very happy to hear about how much it ended up working out and how much you enjoyed listening to my work, especially when paired with the original. It really means a lot to me 😊💖
Honestly, a lot of it is just using random trash objects to make noises, recording those sounds, and then editing them to sound and fit the specific moment they would be used for. It's helpful to build up a library of sounds that you can refer back to and pull from. Finding libraries available for purchase, or for free if possible, is also a great way of growing your library to pull sounds from. The sound library software I use, which categorizes them all for me, is called Soundly. I can't really go into a lot of depth right now, as I'm on break at work, but hopefully this gives at the very least a bit of some helpful insight on the process. If that specific process intrigues you, I would definitely look into some Foley videos online. There are some wonderful documentaries about Foley artists doing their thing uploaded and free to watch. I was mainly performing Foley for library, instead of performing Foley to picture, for this specific project. The mentality and techniques are still applicable to both applications of Foley, though. One just requires less timing to image while recording. Hope this helps some way! ✌🏻💖
Not a chuckle, just also sounds like one honestly now that you point it out, lol. It's just some dude wailing in pain that I messed up with some plug-ins and pitch-shifted.
Used to listen to it that way when I finished it in school, but didn't save out a render with that done balanced the way I enjoyed it best, but th-cam.com/video/KEqIIzlx1Po/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RokSAUDsXWuJurAp this person did a pretty decent job replicating that.
beautiful sound redesign! it's a shock compared to the original one, which is a music-synced animarion. Also you're very handsome and have a wonderful fluffy hair! 💀
Thank you so much for the genuine compliment, I'm really happy you enjoyed my sound design for this piece! And thank you as well for the personal compliments, unexpected and appreciated. I hope you're doing well in your current situations and hope it stays that way for you! Peace and love 😊
You record your own sounds or find them in a sound library, which you can find online, and then you use a DAW to edit the sounds to the video! :) There is a lot more to it as well, but I recommend looking up yourself the many different aspects of sound design and how to get started. I attended a 1-year intensive program near me.
I would love to, that was actually the other video I was contemplating using for my final back when I was at VFS for sound design. I'm pretty short on free time currently, but maybe that one will get done eventually.
Shiver me timbers, Captain Colgrave gave me the go ahead matey! Apologies for any confusion. Yarr. Hopefully it was still an entertaining watch with the different sounds!
Couldn't use any original audio from the video for the assignment, had to all be done myself. No way would I have been able to recreate the entire musical score during the crunch of the assignment. Definitely missed it myself, though, but I personally prefer it without the tunes for my take. Much more liminal, exactly how I wanted.
I really don't know, in my head-canon it is its own type of creature that is basically a sentient submarine. The sounds were a bunch of metal sounds mainly in my edit.

And yet so right at the same time.

They only say forever in the moment that the thing says forever, there are captions for the entire dialogue.
This version feels somewhat darker than the original Donks. Maybe it's the lack of the cartoony sounds and music of the original?
