It's an important self-rescue skill and shows that one is comfortable with their face being under the water and then transitioning to breathing at the top of the water! I like to make sure that folks have these basics down before disorienting them further in a tail
10:00 Only reason I’m so attached to my earplugs is because of that one time I got an ear infection in my youth. Was banned from the water until it healed, and cannot swim without them without getting mortified of being shore-ridden once again.
Same!! First time I went swimming in a tail at my local pool I got a double ear infection and pressure problems with my ears constantly popping. Absolutely horrifying
Any good earplug recommendations? I have the same issue with ear infections associated with water, and I'm looking for good earplugs that keep water out
I’ve always wanted a mermaid tail but literally CAN NOT swim to save my life. 😂😂 So I adore these tips! Will definitely check out the other videos and practice in a pool this summer. Thanks bunches! ❤
Very informative reason why i wanna buy a house with swimmingpool because i wanna learn how to swim like mermaid put ordered on my first mermaid tail time to practice when i get it.
Thank you this will help Soo much. Now I do have a question. Do or or anyone know any exercises that would help to transition into swimming I like a mermaid. Like any exercises that I can do outside off the water that would help make learning to swim like a mermaid or swim in general easier. Something that doesn't require much pressure on the knees (messed up my left knee pretty badly and use a cane to walk around). Sorry if I'm being confusing, I'm not good at explaining things. Since I don't have access to any pool nor have the money to learn how to swim (hell I don't have the money to get me knee check up sadly) I want to what I can do before I go into the water.
The fin fun youtube channel has an 8 week mermaid workout, split into separate parts for each week. i think it has a combination of both in and out water exercises.
Hi! Do you wear your regular prescription eyeglasses underwater or do you have prescription goggles? I can't see without my glasses, can't wear contacts, and haven't swam in a while because I was wondering what the options are. Great video, thank you very much! 🌹
@@NerdmaidFaith Thanks very much for taking the time to answer. I do love that you wear your glasses because it's a great inclusive touch to those of us who wear them. ❤️ Nice to know that even some mermaids wear glasses too! 🥰
I am absolutely not an expert, but I swim underwater with my hand covering my nose often, and trying to do a full body maneuver like the dolphin kick with a hand over your nose may be annoying or make it harder to do, so I’d probably get a nose plug, although I haven’t practiced enough to say for sure
Today I've learned that my typical ways of swimming and hanging out in the water are the things used in Mermaiding. There's hope for me yet. 😱💙 Also good to know that it's totally valid to wear goggles since chlorine and I are not friends at all. Would probably get one stylized to look like glasses to connect with my dry fellow glasses wearers. Even better if I could get a customized pair of prescription goggles.
My first outing in my monofin alone (because I'm not putting on the tail skin until I'm competent with the monofin) I got mad humbled by how difficult it was and also how intense of a workout it was. There's unfortunately not many places where I can go that allows people to wear monofins or mermaid tails or even swimming underwater so my practice runs have had to be at the local lake. I've as a result gotten really skilled at quick emergency exits from the monofin because I have to be my own lifeguard due to no lifeguards in duty which is not great but I'm doing what I can to prioritize my own and other's safety.
YO LOL I JUST SUBED LIKE 1hour ago ahhh that's so funny!!!! Cool vids. I only have a fin fun with a amp monofin I don't have the money to get a better tail tho so I am watching your vids to see is there are better alternative. Thanks for all your content😁
I started swimming as a mermaid 3-4 years ago but I’m real good at it but I got it immediately my moms friend is a professional mermaid and she taught me how to do it
Some mermaid i followed said they were using st first some eyedrop to help their eyes bot get hurt with salt water or something. Any idea what eyedrop it is?
There a very old tv series called man from Atlantis, he swam this way no ail just legs an web hands but aqua lungs to breath under water no human can do

I received my first mermaid tail just yesterday!>< Thank you so so much for this♡♡
how’d it go!?
From where did you buy it?
Thanks for spreading solid information in the mermaid community!
Me who's already a mermaid: Interesting
All in all, this is an amazing video and very good for people just starting or wanting to start
Great video! Definitely has great points. I never thought about someone first needing to be able to float with face in the water then turn!

yeah im definitely a floaty girl thanks to my F cups. I got my first super cheap tail and im about to start mermaiding. this vid helps a lot
Same here. First try, and I was vexingly floaty! Hoping to learn something to help. How are you doing now. I see you commented 9 months ago.

I'm a competitive swimmer and I think I have chronic ear infection...Like it'll go away then come back after a few months rip

I got a mermaid tail but I cant swim in it bc pools around m have banned it and I was told this after a month of swimming in it :(
Why, it’s safe
@@Maddie.S.D.129 I think someone in the pool drowned with it just for precautions
Which state are you in?
I have a lot of trouble keeping dealing with my nose. The water bothers it so much, might have to try a nose plug!

I thought, Mermaid Swimming was easy, before watching this.
But it contains SO many good tips, thank you

Uhh question can you do the dolphin kick while you have one hand covering ur nose or do you have to have both hands infront?

You can swim with no hands, one hand, or both. Just seeing from other videos.
Can tread water with hands raised or behind head, have done silver an gold practice can float easy in back too
Have used snorkel mask and flippers an felt how powerful they can be when used properly
So that why they all put Arms forward to streamline
Hi, love whay you have at 4:00, the cover for your monofin. Did you made it? Bought it? And if so, could you please telle me how I can find one?
It's by Shop Vancouver Mermaid! Right now they're out of stock but stay tuned for another release later in the summer!
@@NerdmaidFaith Thank you ! I'm gonna stay tuned, I absolutely need one !

I've done 72 ft swims doing the dolphin swimming technique on a single breath but that was at max speed of course.

Loved the footage in the bathtub XD
Blow out a little air thru nose also works. Work your bouyance by letting air out lungs to sink or lay on pool bottom always keep some air in lungs
Used clothing as airbag to float slow undulating I find easier than butterfly stroke but body does same motion
Oh lord, I excell at everything mentioned *except* for the floating belly-up bit. My legs are too heavy hahaha

I don't remember but the mermaid is Courtney, and I thought it was named something like 5 mermaid top tips?
I cannot for the life in me keep from blowing air through my nose constantly, it looks terrible in my videos. Any tips to help with that?
Is there a way to see underwater... Good I struggle with it.

I've always been a pretty strong swimmer but we've never been able to afford a tail 💔
One day I'll get one though, I literally can't die without one
When I got my first mermaid tail I just went for it and it was pretty easy😂(That is just my experience)
I don't get why floating. Is it supposed to be hard?
Used to swing a lot an ride bike other time not underwater tho ha ha

OMG my brother and I were always trying to swim like him, and my kids have no idea what I'm talking about! I used to love the theme song too!
they really made that poor actor work for his wage trying to swim so much dolphin kick with no flippers.
Do you ever worry about the chlorine damage to your eyes???
My problem with sinking is water pulling me back up . Even when let a lot of air out ...
My biggest float flex is I can float for however long I want with my arms behind my head and my feet crossed. Believe it or not lol. 🤣
“keeping your head above water where you can't touch“well I'm good at that
Wow this video was so informative! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and hearing you swim and talk mermaid :)

How to take off a mermaid tail after finishing swimming in it, I don’t want to ruin my tail after sitting on concrete pool 🥴
I would take it out in the water and then carrying it when you get out so you don't scuff it on the concrete
I recommend putting a towel/yoga mat/ other soft surface on the edge of the water, and taking it on and off there.
I can’t scream underwater bc I cannot close my throat
