Like most of your subscribers, I have also watched many other van builds. It has been said below that you've not only set, but I feel have raised the van build benchmark, Well done! I'm a qualified, time served, HGV/AC/Refrigeration mechanic of 40 yrs and can honestly say your attention to detail & craftsmanship is on another level compared to most of the van build TH-camrs out there. Your family & friends must be extremely proud of you both, Give yourselves a massive pat on the back! 👏❤
Thank you very much! 😊 We are really happy with what we've been able to build and it's been working out really well for us so far on the road, which is very refreshing after all the long hours put into it! Cheers 😀👍
You are proof that "Two are better than One" (Ec 4 v9) - What makes your videos so special is the way you talk to the camera as though you are actually speaking to someone beside you; two very genuine people. ❤
Haha, sorry! We spent a long time exploring Cornwall and loved it, it's one of our favourite places. So we didn't find as much time as we thought we'd have to edit more videos, whoops! Hopefully we'll be able to get some finished off soon though! Then we stopped back to see family and friends for a while and make a few upgrades on the van, and now have just headed up to Scotland for a few weeks. It's a bit chilly, but we're looking forward to seeing it in the off-season and driving through all the amazing landscapes 🙂🚐
Gotta respect this series for many reasons. Clear and well explained, not afraid to show mistakes. Amazing work ethic and research but most of all although she's easy on the eye, you resisted dressing in short shorts and crop tops for extra clicks. Nice to see a couple who are equally involved in the process manually and intellectually and no one treated as click eye candy.
Thank you, glad you think so! We have a rule that we both have to work on every project together at the same time so we both know exactly how everything works. We have different things we're each better at but we make sure we always share the work, two minds are better than one for sure on a project like this 🙂👍
Cheers! We wanted to make something that we'd be happy to look at every day so though it was worth the effort, they did turn out to be a bit more involved than we had planned at the start though 😀
So meticulous in all aspects of the build and yet still both smiling and joking naturally. You are both a joy to watch and to follow your progress. Well done indeed. 😊
Thanks for sharing guys! Great job, and a great help for me as I’m building my own van (albeit not as professional looking as yours, I’m still getting it done 🎉😂) hugs from Norway!
No problem, thanks for watching! Glad it's helpful and good luck with the rest of your build. We've just come back from 3 months in Norway and had an amazing time! 😍
superb yet again ,the quality of your work is way above any vans that are converted by people that do it for a living ,you have really set the benchmark for future builds
@SelfBuiltStories and don't forget those runs to the hardware store picking up those unique and pricey but necessary... little project made easier tools.
@@timothydavis3703 Yep, won't forget that, especially as our local screwfix was an hours round trip. Doing that on consecutive days because we inevitably forgot something was not uncommon 😅
Just came across your channel tonight and will get through your build videos and what a delight to watch so far. Just got my transit and due to start shortly on my build so if you have any spare time you are more than welcome to help out and hourly rate to be negotiated 😂 You were made for each other and just love it. 👍
Holy moly! These are hands down the most professional looking DIY van cabinets i've seen. And i've watched thousands of videos, lol. You guys are so clever! that tiny gap at the top looks like it was designed to be there too.
@@SelfBuiltStories Slowly. I have all the stuff for the floors, bed, windows and skylight fan - and I have a bargain worktop counter coming in October, 3m for £54 - but I am procrastinating as usual. I want to get the floor done this weekend, and maybe the skylight. The windows will have to wait until I've resolved a small rust patch, but the only thing holding me back right now is me.
Great job, however I am I'm glad I've more space to work with, however, that does mean more work lol. I'm doing my shower the same are what you've done, so very much looking forward to your next video.
Thank you very much! It's all working out really well so far, very happy with the design we came up with, even if those doors did take a bit of work! 😀
Haha no way, great spotting! Sure 😄 It was one of the first books we had in the van for reading on the road, a present from Abi that I enjoyed a lot as I'm a runner too... though nothing quite on the scale of your run! 😛
Been waiting for this update, glad you are getting through the editing process. I hate to say it but your splined mitre joints won't be as strong as they should be as the grain direction makes a huge difference and you chose cross grain which is the weakest you could have chosen... Hopefully the glue alone will be man enough! Other than that you guys should be proud of what you have built!!
Cheers, we are! Hmm yeah you could be right, we cut them off the end-grain as it was simpler to set up on the chop saw. They felt pretty secure the way we put them in, whereas the other way seemed fairly brittle. But either way they kept the joints all together for glue-up and happy to say they feel very nice and sturdy and have held up great over the last few months 😀👍
I just love your van. The quality of the work you put into it is superb! You should be very proud of yourselves. The ultimate finished job is going to be amazing. Look forward to your next video. Well done 👍
Great job. That look you give the camera when completed with satisfaction...Yep we all know that look. Whew, dont want to do THAT again. So worth it. That wall looks amazing. I was wondering from Part 1....Where's Jackson?
Thank you! Haha yeah, those moments where everything finally comes together are nice and rewarding. You never quite know until the end if it's going to turn out how you were imagining, and after all the work put into it you really don't want to have to redo it 😄 And sadly we actually don't know where he is at the moment, very unlike him he went off one day and didn't come back 😢😢 We're trying not to let it get us down too much, but it's hard as we really miss him, he is such a good cat and we just hope one day he'll find his way back home 😿
Yep, we've been living in it for a little while now! We will definitely do a video tour at some point, but it won't be for a little while as we still have a few other videos left to edit 😀
Hi guys. Nice job as always. I have watched all your videos in one nigh.that was super fun .. details you made are incredible.only thing i would change is side windows.they are too small. I hope you are not gonna regret it. When you start living you will see what i mean. Welldone

Hi!! Been following your journey all along and loving your work. ❤ We are actually also converting a transit (just a little shorter) at the moment. Will your build come out below 3,5tons or is your transit an actual truck?
Hey! 👋 Awesome, thanks for following along! And we've tried to keep weight down as much as we could everywhere, and it was something that we got better at through the build too. We were quite happy with these cabinets coming out at 11.9kg, but the incremental weight of everything can easily add up for sure. So we decided that with two of us living in the van and wanting to have everything we need to be off-grid for a while that having a bit of extra payload capacity would be great, so we've uprated our van to 4T 👍
@@MrYugo68 We didn't use plywood for the worktops, we went with oak and applied several coats of danish oil so can't really comment. But would probably not go for paint being a worktop as it'll likely chip away over time with use. You'd definitely need to seal it though so it doesn't rot or warp with all the moisture it will be exposed to, possibly a varnish or maybe something like osmo oil would be better
