We’ll get this PC up to speed, but frustrating experience for a PC that was considered tested and working. That’s what I get for buying one of the cheapest PCs I can find!
Honestly the most frustrating part (aside from windows installs, that’s a whole other story) are these Amazon listings that are constantly claiming to be compatible with certain products, but actually aren’t. Again, I guess that’s what I get for trusting Amazon listings rather than the manufacturer specs of a PC!

This was literally the computers my high school used oh my god.. They were so small that you could attach them to the back of the monitor, and they actually ran quite well! I remember using Visual Studio on them in class and not having any issues.

Maybe it's a pc for a specific use, like office automation. Or you could stop complaining like "oh, there's no operating system" and just download a linux distribution and test it out.
For $50, I'd be happy, because I could turn it into a VPN gateway or a multimedia platform .

Hmm I do this type of thing all the time I buy old laptops from the 90's to the early/mid 2000's, take them apart, put in some work if need be and find the recovery cd's off of the internet archive or other forums to see if can get them up/running properly. I've also ran across this issue before with couple OptiPlex and Inspiron lines so here's a few tips.
Well for one what you can do is take out the CMOS battery from the computer and see if will remove the Bios Password. Another issue that maybe is that the SSD you're using isn't running in the right channel or needs the correct format. Looking from that Dell bios it's similar to some I've worked on as well. The older models that aren't .NVME so you may want to change from ACHI to ATA, this will enable it boot correctly. Also yeah.. this is the perils of buying "cheap" electronics off of eBay.

'tseems the SATA bracket assembly is missing here and having a drive just hanging in the breeze like that can easily tear the SATA connector off the PCB… Btw, the power brick requirements depend on the CPU installed.

After watching for 2 minutes, I’m very tempted to quit. This guy obviously has no class or manners. He’s running the machine down before even powering it on, and obviously doesn’t know what he has. I’m not impressed in any way. If he had even looked at the eBay listing he’d have known more, like the lack of hard drive. It’s also not hard to check Dell’s support pages for specs, like processor and power requirements. It’s a good thing it’s smart enough to check the power supply for him.

I’ll keep watching for a bit, but I’m not expecting much.

These little machines are actually really good for lightweight tasks or retro gaming. With a few upgrades it could make a pretty nice pfsense machine or minecraft server. Also it does have pcie via the medium of that m.2 nvme slot which you can adapt to full size pcie albeit at only 4x bandwidth.

Interesting video and sorry to see you had a frustrating time with it!
The 7050 was the high end micro PC Optiplex from Dell, though a few years old now they still very usable for general office type tasks - I believe the max CPU (which is replaceable) is i7 7th generation (hence the PSU requirements).
I think $50 is pretty good for the bare PC. It was unfortunate the seller kept the disk caddy (about $5) and the PSU ($20 after market in the UK).
I wonder if the seller advertised the missing parts and is problematic due to the admin password, which you managed to overcome, hence the reasonable price?
It's very weird it wouldn't take a straightforward install of Windows 10 as these PCs have nothing special in them.
The charity I work for has recently installed Optiplex 3060 micro PCs (lower end than the 7050, but with 8th gen CPUs) and these are very usable for the task of providing several users with Windows 11 Pro, Microsoft Office, OneDrive experience. They are very quiet and sturdy machines, but not fit for modern gaming.

i think these guys have potential to make really quality videos but i honestly dont think they possess the knowledge to run a pc hardware channel. of course no hate, especially as these guys are just starting this channel, but the videos are very lack luster and leave out many details. they also have the ability to misinform due to their lack of knowledge as i have seen them do before on this channel. i like the personalities, and i love jacob R, but this channels videos arent quite meeting the standards for me as an enthusiast. still, i am sticking for the ride and i hope the videos improve alongside the knowledge of the hosts.

for example, i just got finished with this video and oh my god was it ultimately useless. it had no point and ultimately proved 2 things. my misinformation claim, and the fact that these types of channels CANNOT be ran without the proper knowledge. these prebuilts are GREAT solutions for gamers on a budget and this video ultimately promotes the opposite . this is due to the host stating how much more money he "had" to spend to get it to function and a lack of a satisfying resolution. these factors both contribute to ultimately make these machines look untrustworthy and useless which is untrue. additionally, i cant understand why viewers would come back for more if the host of a PC HARDWARE CHANNEL does not know how to properly install windows on a drive. to put it simply, people will come to this video looking to be ultimately educated and will be missinformed into believing these types of systems are bad because the host of the channel just doesnt know how to operate it. additionally, you can see these videos really have no quality control. he couldnt have done any research prior into if the mini pc had a pcie slot? plus , their are still so many ways to get a gpu hooked up, but because of, again, a lack of knowledge and planning, this video essentially turned out to be "i spent alot of money on a paperweight". i still enjoy this channel, but i really wish that more effort could be employed into these videos. again, these guys seem really nice, and there is a absolutely no doubt in my mind that this channel cant become something big, but as of now it is quite dissapointing. i look forward to the future of this channel, as i love Jacob R's content and they both additionally seem like nice people. i wish you guys good luck if you are reading this, but i really hope you would employ even a little of my feedback into the improvement of your channel going forward

First off if you should of done your home work the Dell OptiPlex line is for business. These machines are off lease and most of the end up to PC recyclers (E-WASTE) so they can get new life. I have been refurbishing these units years and they perform pretty good. This unit is a MICRO OptiPlex. HP calls there PRO DESK MINI and Lenovo calls there Think Centre MINI. There are guys in here YOU TUBE that takes the units and coverts them for retro gaming and they perform REALLY GREAT. I use Mint Linux and they work right out the box.

The Tiny or Mini form factor is fairly popular with businesses, and there are indeed 1L tiny PCs with PCIE slots, HP had some of that similar vintage that you could use a very proprietary RX 560 in, some of the Lenovo ThinkCentre models had a slot that required a riser and allowed any single slot low profile GPU to work, up to and including the RTX 4000. Strange, but true.

Knowing everything about PCs and displaying that knowledge has never been the point of this channel. It's always been about buying interesting tech, phones, pcs, etc and exploring it, just like the Jacob R channel is with consoles. I think saying "know absolutely nothing about PC" is a very extreme stretch. A lot of the comments I've seen here clearly expect this to be an in depth gamers nexus type channel, or even LTT, but that's not what it is and it never will be. People have just watched and decided to make that assumption. The videos are much more enjoyable if you watch to have a good time watching us play around with interesting tech, because that is exactly what this channel is.
