My light uses 660nm and 740nm ontop of 3k, 5k. In part i credit the extra red for the size of my plants. I want them to "stretch" at all stages really. My plants that have tight node spacing are the first to get quelled. Im not sure why people want to make plants grow like that with blue. I want the stretch, the fast veg growth and long towers of bud in flower. In veg the node spacing gets controlled with LST branch bending. In flower colas get the node spacing tighened by crushing the tissue inside the internodes during the first 4 weeks. I should also note I got a ePar meter recently and found I use alot less Par than recommended with amazing results. Im averaging just over 7oz plants in a 4x8. My plants can rarely handle high pars with the extra red though. I believe the red can burn the leafs easier than the other spectrums. This is why I tell people spectrum is more important than par or efficiency. The spectrum tells the plant how to react, not the ppfd.
A lot of amateurs home growers that's why uv and ir was stripped. They don't now how to manage extra stretch & yield. So easier to sell it separately for serious growers
i also think far red helps towards ripening in general, if you've noticed fruit often hangs below leaves and canopy. also i suspect that far red, due to the expansion it brings about on a cellular level, seems to soften flavours, making lettuce FAR less bitter for instance. one more thing, it seems to me that uvb offsets far red sharply, (it seems to shock the plant into not stretching for a WHILE) slowing the stretch and causing swelling, even in short bursts, ( 1 hour on 1 off, and again 1 hour on 1 off at either side of midday light cycle) so if you get the spectral ingredients just right you can increase terpene production with uvb blue increments throughout the entire grow while adding far red (which when mixed right ) to cause softer flavour ( not bitter but POWERFULLY flavourful and sweeter ) and the far red causes fruit to SWELL and ripen. ( i suspect the swelling is because far red brings more water into the fruit IF available) this would include budding flowers too. thankyou for the informative vids, im a BIG fan of far red :)
He wouldn’t be a believer of things like that from what I’ve seen his analysis of diff spectrums and changing spectrums and even using UV light. I don’t believe Shane is a believer in using UV is he? Maybe something changed, but I saw multiple interviews where he completely downplays it and really anything that’s not in the lights he creates and sells. He’s all about data and whatever is proven and really yields at the lowest cost. Seems to be a pure ROI/numbers guy. Having him be Dr Bugby like is really pretty interesting like given he doesn’t really co-sign his findings. Not the ones we are talking about anyway. Shane has done somewhat of a flip in front of us the last 18 months or so. People like me would he with you and definitely trying to get their hands on the newer tools like spectrum tuning and then how to use it. Great info thank you for sharing.
Like uva and uvb.. the thing is, one guy like that tests it and then broscience starts... uvb increases quality but like green.. if you overuse it more than the sun does in a day.. youll literally burn heh
Hi @migro I've always switched on my Far Red only when the storm is completely over. That way I don't have any additional stretch from the Far Red. I then also use it very heavily, about 10% of the spectrum. I'm a bit shocked by your video. I haven't noticed anything negative so far. What do you think of the procedure? Kind regards from Germany ✌️❤️
What about the “Emerson Effect” & putting plants to sleep faster with the usage of far red at the end of the day & start of dark cycle? Also changing the light cycle to 13/11 & does it really cut down flower time by two weeks? Bro science or can you elaborate on the subject? Thanks
Ill have like 4 600watts haps each light in a corner of a 6x6 space then in middle a 300 watts full spectrum led osram marshydro light in centre of the 4 hpd lights. Is it bad ? To mix that type of set up ?

💯 But unfortunately he won’t he reviewing anymore GML lights after there was an alleged inconsistency with Shane’s testing methods and equipment that was made public by GML and Shane got upset. Pretty crazy how easily Shane got shook given he’s been charging $2K Euro for the tests and sells competing lights at times. Maybe there will be a detailed response from Shane on his channel since he allegedly blocked GML from Instagram/whatever platforms they were communicating on. All this “he wasn’t being nice or respectful” response from Shane isn’t really a response. It’s a deflection and it’s basically what he’s given. He did jump in on GMLs comment section on TH-cam and request to come on and highjack GMLs show/channel but doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen. Maybe we will get something better than the lackluster response on the iCanTHC channel. Might he watching Migro come apart given how he’s chosen to go about this. The Oil Farmers he’s tryin to get in with sure are lookin at him sideways. 💯🤣

What's your light schedule at each stage I just bought some deep red lights and still trying to figure when and how often
660nm red seems to be a secondary standard now with a broad spectrum 'white' color as the primary light source
730nm too, mostly. They mostly come out at night, mostly.
Professor DeBacco 💪 cheers thanks for the video 👊 very informative.

Could this be why companies use the UVA to add blue spectrum when they use the far red? I'm just asking question that popped in my head
thank you Mathew
and Shane XD
Thank you for that video, very informative. Can i use additional blue standard led strips to prevent stretch?
It really depends on what blue LED's you use and how efficient they are.

Hi,
No it will not cut down flower time at all.
thanks!
All light is usable by the plant . no matter the NM wave length plants use it and need it to truly be complete
false. some light actually kills organic material.
All NM within PAR, at least.
What do you suggest for mid / low supplemental? More blurple or reds or just full
Spec?
Just full spec
I remember 6 months ago you said it’s bad
How about doing something different.? Efficiency and the output spectrum when a light is on only say 10% 50% Etc. Everyone is trying to save energy .
