Your comments about anatomy and stylization near the end are soo true! I have absolutely no artistic background, having a good understanding of anatomy would save me so much time trying to figure out why some characters I make look so uncanny. Thank you for the video.
The quality of the video is very high. Not something you would expect from a small channel (no offense is meant). Also, the video is straight to the point while being entertaining and informative. You 120% need more subscribers
Wow I just wish I can draw some Digi leg for furries with a pencil and paper. The way you described about Digi legs is pretty interesting and I feel amazed thanks for that.
2:26 is exactly what my character’s legs look like, everytime I try and look up references they give animal references and not furry references. Considering I’ve been doing this for years with no idea how to fix it I’m genuinely great full for this tutorial ( also my character is more “wolf girl” than furry so finding anatomy tutorials are always hard cuz I don’t wanna go to extreme on either side )
Tysm!! I've been trying to draw digigrade legs for a few years now, and I've always struggled. This video helped a lot, and I think its the fact that I don't think of the joints enough when drawing the legs!
This Dingo, if you're out there somewhere, I humbly ask that you please find the strength to make more videos. There are only a handful of artist out there that draw furries with realistic human proportions. Within that handful, your style is very unique and awesome. This is the style I've been dying to learn. So far, I only know how to draw digi legs thanks to this video. I have subscribed and will sit here with hope, waiting for that bell notification to pop up.
drawing a satyr and for the life of me can not figure out how to make these good legs no matter how many tiems i draw them. this video made me realize i'm compltely forgetting about the toes! and for some reason this changed my life. here i go. thank you
Actually, the ankle is the joint near the knee. The ankle is NOT near the toes. In fact, the foot is one third of the entire length of the leg. A plantigrade foot (like the human foot) is half as long as the lower leg which is half of the leg length. However, in the case of human legs, the length does NOT include that of the foot.
hahaha yeah this was mostly just a little experiment to see how much work was involved in making a youtube video tbh I'm planning on making a little more content soon though!
I am VERY late to the party qwq Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I think my problem was that I was drawing the legs as if their back hind legs on a feral cat (my fursona is a cat) causing them to look like someone bashed their knees in- (which I fixed, thx to this tutorial)
Straight on is always a little harder. A golf place to start is by looking at references of people wearing high heels and then adjusting the location of the joints the same way I explain in the video!
No sorry, I don’t enjoy drawing in that style. The same principles in this video can be applied to toony styles though! The most important thing is making sure you have the correct amount of joints and you’ll probably come up with something that looks good!
Yeah man I actually use a fursuit with digi legs, but dancing in that fursuit isn't easy, I would know. It was anthrocon 2007 when the 4channers tried the raid the convention armed with spears and bows and arrows. As I had learned Hip Hop Kido from watching power rangers I effectively disarmed most of the spear wielders and dodged the arrows with minor injuries, my fursuit had an arrow go straight through it but missed my head, it brought a great sense of fear to the others though as they thought I was immortal. They all stepped aside as I now had to dance fight off the drunken master of kung fu himself, who hated furries after they killed his mom. New Jack Swing played as I got into the spirit of the 90s while he tapped into the 70s, the fight was long, tiring and most of all, impossible to see through a fursuit head. Eventually, completely tired out we were at a stalemate when the LAPD arrived, a sniper taking a headshot at both of us. Again, the shot missed but I knew better and played dead, fitting as I was a possum. Once everything cleared out and my body was dragged off I knocked the two unconcious and went back home, my identity completely isolated from the incident. To this day when I see a drunken old chinese dude I can feel the memory of the fight flood back through me. Anyway wanna dance sometime?
Depends on the vibe you’re going for I suppose. I go for a more realistic style in my art so the way I draw them works best for me. I offer this knowledge to anyone who wants to draw like me
Regarding the "wrong" way to draw legs that's shown on your thumbnail, I do that for my fursona because she has bad posture and I also do it for any alien characters I draw because I like the shape of the legs like that. At the end of the day there really is no right or wrong way but if you are going for a specific style then these tips are great. For now I'll just stick with my wrong way of drawing my middle-aged Fox personas bad knee posture. Because again, right and wrong is subjective depending on what you're going for.
Agreed! It's not anatomically correct but as you said, there's not really a right or wrong way to do it because it's art! You can be as wacky or "normal" as you want with it and that's one of the great things about it! And it also doesn't need to look that anatomically correct to look good as well, for example quite a few cartoon characters are proportioned or just weird from an anatomy standpoint but still look decent!
I didn’t use this to draw a furry, but this really helped me draw my indoraptor. Thank you

I'm glad it makes sense!
2 years ago, but for anyone else, yes!!! Understanding basic anatomy is important even if you're just going to draw a blobby cartoon marshmellow man!
Can you teach us how to draw chibi furries please 🥺
Thank you!! I've been trying to draw a deer-like fursona, but I've always struggled with drawing animals so I'm really excited to try this out ^^

This is still a really useful video! I’m working on a bunny character and this really showed how digi legs would work. Thanks!
holy shit. The 4 joints. It all makes sense now. I've going off three and exculding the hip like a dummy! Tysm, this is a huge help!
