يدعي بعض المؤرخين وباحثي التوراة أن الكلمة الواردة تلفظ "Plshtim" "بلشتيم" وتشير الى القوم قاطني الأرض وليس الى اسم الأرض وهو أمر خاطئ تماما بسبب:
1- عند النظر الى النص الأصلي دون النقوط الموضوعة بشكل متأخر ومقارنته بنظيره في اطار اللغة العربية:
ב א ר ץ - b-’e-re-ṣ
ب ا ر ض - b-'e-re-ḍ
פ ל ש ת י ם - p-l-š-t-î-m
ف ل س ط ي ن - F-l-s-ṭ-ī-n
2- غياب أداة التعريف:
- بينما تشير اللاحقة "-يم" في العبرية عادةً إلى الجمع، في حالة "פלשתים" (فلستيم = فلسطين)، من المنطقي أكثر تفسيرها كجزء من الاسم الأصلي للأرض، مشابهًا لكيفية استخدام اللاحقة العربية الموافقة (-ين) كجزء اساسي من كلمة "فلسطين، وليس كلاحقة تفيد ضمير الجمع.
ان عدم وجود الأداة التعريفية "ה" (ها-) يدعم هذا التفسير، مشيرًا إلى أن "פלשתים" (فلسطين) هو اسم علم يشير إلى الأرض نفسها وليس مصطلحًا لسكانها.
هذا التفسير يتماشى مع الأدلة التاريخية واللغوية، مما يشير إلى أن "פלשתים" =(فلسطين) وتشير إلى الأرض المعروفة اليوم باسم فلسطين.
3- فرضية مزعومة حول "الفلستينيين":
توجد فرضية تاريخية تتناول "الفلستينيين في التوراة"
وتزعم بأنهم "غزاة من شعوب البحر" هاجروا من قرابة الجزر اليونانية ووصلوا الى المنطقة الساحلية الجنوبية من أرض كنعان حوال القرن ال (12 قبل الميلاد) وهنا يجب الانتباه الى عدة نقاط:
أ. تضارب الآراء بين العلماء والباحثين:
لا يوجد توافق تام بين المؤرخين والباحثين وعلماء الآثار بشأن أصول ومصير "الغزاة الفلستينيين".
ب. الإشارات التوراتية:
التوراة، في تكوين 21:32 و 26:1، تشير إلى لقاءات بين الانبياء إبراهيم وإسحاق وملك فلسطين أبيمالك.
ج. الإطار الزمني لفترة إبراهيم التاريخية:
حسب التقديرات التاريخة فان ابراهيم على اقرب تقدير عاش حوالي القرن ال (18 عشر قبل الميلاد).
- وبالتالي فان هناك فرق بحوالي ستة قرون بين التأريخين.
👈👈️ وهذا ما يجعل كل هذه الفرضية التاريخية
⬅️إما خاطئة كليا ⬅️او مكذوبة ومختلقة.
- لاحظ ان كل البلاد المجاورة في المنطقة (سوريا ولبنان والأردن ومصر) قد ذكرت صراحة في نص التوراة أيضا. بالاضافة الى مدن ومناطق عدة معروفة كبئر سبع.
