    Your raw content about my beloved South Africa is inspiring. I lived in the UK for 5 years and sometime in the US. I remember watching a show The Amazing race while living in the UK which showcased my home city Johannesburg. I broke up crying like a little baby. My mind was made, I was returning to the motherland. When I got here I was floored by the beauty and to see people who looked like me at every turn was surreal. I never went back to the UK. It took me 4 months to secure a really good paying job in one of the big South African banks, and the relaxed attitude in the office was something I was not accustomed to. In the UK and the US the office environment is so tense. You have to account for every minute of your working day, or you risk getting fired on the spot. If they do that in South Africa one can challenge the employer relatively easier because of the reasonably sound labor laws. I also don't have to worry myself about being shot down by the police or the numerous drive by shootings and stabbings that are commonplace in the UK and the US. And the fact that I have parking space inside my complex is a definite advantage. I don't have to worry about my car which I have to park out in the street being vandalised by those silly kids that are almost the fibre of the UK. And the employed people especially in the US hardly get any reasonable vacation time, medical insurance ( the private hospitals in South Africa are second to none in terms of cleanliness and service) and medical aid is a standard benefit for South African employees, unlike in the US and the UK. All South African citizens have access to free Healthcare, and the welfare system is pretty fair, especially for the disabled and the aged. I had a little stint in DC but it didn't feel like home either. This - South Africa - is my Jerusalem and I'm walking in it like John. Even my accent has changed. I love it here.

      Thanks for sharing. I'm South African and always thought it was weird that people could just get fired on the spot without addressing the cause and I still can't believe the public health system in the US. Just imagine, this is how far we have come in 25 years of democracy, yes there are issues but I'm hopeful that we're getting better and stronger. Enjoy being in SA and please apply for citizenship... We don't want to lose skilled people who are helping to build the economy.

    Definately the cops scared the hell out of me!
    Our accommodation was in Brooklyn, New York City, close to the project houses.
    I remember we (my colleague and I) wanted to take a bit of walk after sunset and get some beers at the convinient store.
    There were NYDP patrolling around project houses. We felt uncomfortable and unsave to be around the NYDP police. We then decided to return to the hotel.

    The narrative of the Western world in portraying to the African Americans and the diasporas, Africa as an unlivable continent is so ironic and churn one's stomach to the core because while they're busy portraying Africa as a "villain" continent, their people (Westerners) are busy migrating to Africa to live the African dream. The irony! Thank you so very much to these gracious and wonderful ladies for this wonderful interview. I just subscribed to your channel.

    • @fabulousfarrahinsouthafrica
      @fabulousfarrahinsouthafrica 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly they do that so the 1.3 trillion dollars we as black Americans pump into American economy every year is anchor here in America vs taken to places like south Africa which would bring investors for South Africans and for Africa and also more large scale corporations that will hire more South African which would shorten South Africa wealth gap between black and colored South 🇿🇦 Africans
      That's why they know South Africa and many parts of Africa is just like the 🇺🇸 in many ways especially south Africa infrastructure and they don't want you guys to grow and be bigger then America 😉
