      Bhuti. I hope one day. Our fellow Africans can also profile our country in a positive light. There is one Nigerian brother who does property reviews. Forgot the name of the channel.
      But I fully agree with you. Currently the xenophobic tension is a battle of one countries poor against anothers poor.
      So when somebody comes with a skill, investment and knowledge they are willing to share it's different.
      And no one can deny we will be stronger as a people, when our countries poorest are uplift. Then maybe the rest of the continent can join us and contribute like these folk.

    There's an animosity between African Americans & West Africans that needs to be addressed.The rest of the Continent is being dragged into that when we really have no Idea where that even comes from. South Africans specifically are the complete opposite. We have a general affinity with & have always shown a solidarity with African Americans, stemming from the similar history of oppression that our peoples have been through in the last few centuries. African Americans & especially Nigerians have to address this & stop making this beef a continental beef. It really isn't. I understand how this could've started because Black South Africans also have our own beef with Nigerian immigrants in South Africa for our own reasons. They get here in SA call black South Africans lazy. uneducated, entitled etc. I've seen them say the exact same things about African Americans. this could be why y'all feel like all Africans don't like African Americans. I guarantee you, this is not the case.

      You said it best and another thing it stems from different cultures as well ...For example South Africans never sold fellow Africans as slaves throughout history... & understanding naturism that Ubuntu originate from that... Different countries different experiences...Human Trafficking experiences is an unconscious behavior that comes from selling fellow Africans as slaves unconscious psychological behavior...we never had it here then other Africans come and introduce it here causing animosity ..We also suffer from post enslavement syndrome....

    First I don't feel like a 5th class citizen in America. I went to SA twice last year, had a great time. Similar skin color does not equal similar culture. I did feel like an outsider on different occasions, had some culture shock(as in any country). I don't subscribe to the "homeland" of Africa narrative.SA does look just like the US infrastructure wise. This "spiritual" feeling he talks about is really just the first time I felt like a majority. Maybe that's what white Americans feel like lol. The whites there do feel like they have their own struggle I sense. The interviewer is really stuck on white supremacism, assuming that a black government will automatically look out for a majority black population. No, there are still systemic problems that hold back the country from being it's best. Humans are flawed across nations. Overall great experience and I will go again. South Africans are very friendly people once they get to know you. They'll give you their last dollar(rand) if you needed to catch a taxi even if you're a total stranger. Food was fantastic. They got a fun sense of humor. They'll take a shitty current event and find the positive.

    Here are some healthy (and healing) tips for us (Diasporans in the United States): 1. drop the term 'Black American' all together; 2. create consensus on a Bantu-derived linguistic term to re-define the group, 3. drop all slave names and research and legally take-back African (Bantu) names, 4. explore and embrace Ubuntu as an African philosophy of humanity (and human kindness). The collective set of ideas is inexpensive, but rich in content; the legal name take-back may cost about $150 (.. cheap in comparison to the restoration of mental health).

    • @nellasquare2092
      @nellasquare2092 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do they have to create consensus on a Bantu derived linguistic term? Their heritage my not be just of Bantu descent. African Black people have many derivatives i.e. Fulani, Masai, Bantu, Griqua, Khoi San, Nubian , Nilotic etc. Why choose Bantu out of the African derivatives?

    • @ufundi1
      @ufundi1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nellasquare2092 Jambo Nella Square. Bantu is the basic family of languages from which we (Diasporans) emanated geo-linguistically. As you know, there are thousands of Bantu languages/peoples, e.g., KiSwahili, Zulu, Kongo, Xhosa, etc. Bantu (meaning 'people') is trending as a Pan-African connector to identify Black people irrespective of geography.

      China's economic development miracle was propelled in no small a part by the Chinese repatriates from the US, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. We need our African American brothers and sisters to invest in Africa as a whole. The richest man in the world should be an African of the African mineral wealth is anything to go about. We need more investments from our OWN (including Oprah) than Chinese. Jay z and Beyonce may invest in Mining for instance, or property or tourism. Based on the Dollar/Ramd exchange, its value for money.

      Actually not necessarily, there are African Americans, Afro-Latino and Caribbean people with Southern African bloodlines. I’m a university history major so we can talk abit on this. People here too historically were sold into slavery and taken to the slave trading coasts.
      I get that majority people in the diaspora would think their ancestry takes its roots from those other African countries which to a larger extent is true but that sold fact doesn’t mean that the peoples of diaspora don’t share blood with us.
      Lol i would simply just encourage people looking to emigrate who are of the diaspora look toward tracing their ancestry within the continent. Science has been great at making this possible and epigenetics of Black communities abroad is an area which should highly be considered.
      Then to possibly solve or remedy this notion of the year of return, yes it was declared by Ghana and Nigeria but it was solely done with the mark of a 100 years since the first ships sailed from the continent. Essentially as a why to increase their import capital through tourism. For me this be done cross-Continentally, moreover those visits could be used to enterprise and develop a love for specific corners of the continent that peoples of the diaspora relate with or like. Our home affairs isn’t sharp, but maybe it needs young minds like me to perhaps add to pitching these ideas and thought processes.
