The getting ninja through the front is frustrating but I think I can explain it. So when your close, your hit boxes clip through eachother and the melees hurtbox is behind you, with the only place to do damage would be your back. This actually happens in other games like Team Fortress 2 and other source games if I'm not mistaken.
I used to think the same thing when I first started submitting to him, then a month later my clip was featured. I think they just take a long time to catch up with all the submissions. This is the most popular Halo Community channel after all. Don't get discouraged and keep hitting and submitting those sick clips bro!
