Having to do a full channel ability in order to swap instead of having some kind of mount menu toggle for specific mounts is gonna feel like a bit of a bummer :( It's nice to have both at your disposal for different purposes.

Too bad that we have to cast a 5-second spell every time we want to change flight mode. Dynamic flight is cool for long distances, but static flight is more useful for world quests or travelling around capitals/cities. To sum up, I fly to a WQ with dynamic flight, then land, cast a 5 sec spell, cast a static mount, do my WQ, cast a 5 sec spell and cast a dynamic mount.... It would be more efficient to put an option on the mounts so that they remain static or not, whatever flight mode you're in, dynamic or static.

Did Blizz learn a lesson on what "fun factor" means? Nice!!! I've always HATED the Pathfinder stuff (though I did it because I wanted the advantages of flying on my alts), so these changes are extremely welcome!
The flight speed decrease from old dragonriding is horribly noticeable! Ty for clarifying that I wasn't going crazy feeling like I was moving like a slug
I love that the team was so hard on the I hate flying kick because it "ruins the game" "makes the world feel small" "trivializes content" but are all in with a version of flying that is essentially ten fold worse. It makes me think, maybe they were just bullshitting like so many wow players who were anti flying.
Except it doesn't feel good and that allong should be a reason not to have different speed. Make no sense for physic based system. Meanwhile in gw2 they can but momentum as much as they want until it reach thousands if you have the skills. Funny how blizzard always copy but nerf the fun no matter they do.
I can't wait for this change. Hopefully people that aren't keen on the whole skyriding feature will be happy to just get a regular speed boost instead, but allowing people that prefer skyriding to benefit too. I honestly can't wait, I've loved using my drakes but I have sorely missed my other babies, they have been neglected!
Amazing video, glad to see changes to both static flight and skyriding, switching between flight styles will be a great utility coming forward, I hope they make changes in the dragon isles leveling experience to enable other mounts to skyride at level 10 with evokers or new players since it only mounts Dragonriding mounts
I dont like the way we switch between static flight and dragonriding. Now all i have to do is click on a different mount and thats the kind of flying im using. Now i have to wait a additional 5 seconds which adds a LOT of hassle and lost time. Especially for people who switch a lot between the kind of flying they use. There is absolutely no valid reason why that toggle cant be instant.
the one problem i have with the switching being 5 seconds is that if I ever ran out of vigor, I'd swap to a normal flying mount until the vigor came back. So it's going to be a lot more arduous and annoying to do that and let the charges of vigor come back. Honestly, they should probably just get rid of vigor for anything that's not a race
Oh god.. They baked in the "hovering" effect into aerial halt? That sucks man.. I don't take that point in the tree. I hate hitting the stop button and then not being able to land for several seconds. It's a REALLY annoying point that I was hoping they'd do away with.
Why does switching flying styles need to be a cast? That’s so dumb. I use both styles all the time now as I don’t always need dragon riding and most of the time it’s inferior as you can’t even float in air or fly a short distance without having to do an actual takeoff. Just make it an instant cast spell that doesn’t demount you.
Do I understand this correctly? They reduce the flight speed when dragonriding from 830% to 705%? Why? Its perfect now 🧐 9:13 ah ok, I was to quick - then I try to believe you! 🤞😆
I skipped dragonflight but came back for mop remix, so this has been my first experience with skyriding. I basically use it in place of flight paths for long distance travel but I still like using my static flying mounts along side skyriding for short range precision movement like if a mob is just a bit too far out of range or climbing up a cliff or wall. Skyriding for those things feels like complete overkill because you cant use the movement abilities unless you do the big flap which makes you way too high up most of the time and then you gotta wrangle with the controls to try and actually land where you want. Using the two together feels really good, so im bummed to see that you have to use a toggle to change everything from one or the other, and that you cant even use static in TWW until pathfinder but skyriding is unlocked at the start. Theyre even buffing the static move speed which makes me want to use both even more!
Meh. Id rather have ground mounts with super jump super speed and no fall damage. Example: 410 speed. Speed boost button giving an extra 25% speed with short cd. Extra jump button four leeping like the Hulk and add triple jump to make traversing up hills/mountains very doable! That sounds like fun.
I wish we could assign flight style per mount. For instance I could have some mounts on my action bar that are old style, and some that use dragonriding.. the switching seems too clunky, I'm ok with it, but would like to also be able to assign a few mounts to just be traditional for when I need to AFK above mobs and players etc.
It is. In fact... already the case. On MoP remix ! :D Join us being overpowered thanks to our amazing scaling that allows us to become actually overpowered and easily farm Bronze, all transmogs and 3/4 mounts even with no raid and 3/7 zones! :D
@@Aztonio that's pretty cool. They're not interested in Remix, but with it already being the case there, you are right that it will probably mean it'll be the case in retail too! :D

Thanks for the info!! I have 1003 mounts and I’m way too lazy to manually count how many of them are flying or not. Now I know it’s basically half if 500 mounts are tagged for sky riding

I really like a lot of these changes. The point being automatically allocated on new characters is really nice. Playing the remix right now it's super annoying to try and remember to put my points in, and to go find the person to do that. I don't mind the slower speeds, it's not really noticeable to me either. I would have liked some way to set some mounts to static and others to skyriding, so I can switch between it based on the mount I'm using. That's a really minor thing though, otherwise, it's really nice.
So they're still capping dragonriding in the new expansion's zones? You'd think they'd only do this for the old zones that are smaller, not any new ones they make. Why only have it be fast in the dragon isles and slow in every new zone they make?
Kind of wish we could just pick or choose the mounts that skyride or static ride, so we don't have to do the 5 second thing every time we just want to do a quick jaunt nearby. Also, I guess it's safe to assume we aren't getting flying races in TWW? I haven't seen any mention of that anywhere yet, so I'm guessing no.
Why wouldn't they create races for WW when they're already creating races for each expansion ? (BTW it's not Total War Warhammer, also, we rather use BC)
I like being able to land my dragon and immediately mount a regular flying mount to move closer to my destination for gathering or just so I'm not landing hot amongst mobs. The 5 second cast spell seem clunky
Im loving the changes for static flight coming in TWW, but I have a bone to pick with the button that switches between static and dynamic. IMO, there is no reason for it to have a 5s cast time. It should be instant. I dont want to have to dismount every time I want to swap between the two.
Not happy about 5 sec switch time. Right now I can mount a non-dynamic mount when I want to in 1.5. Now since all flying mounts will be governed by the switch it will take 5 sec to get on one (since still use dynamic for usual getting around). Reminds me the mount equipment nerf- sounds good but some hidden penalties
Nope, 6.5/10 uh I mean 6.5s to switch... And overall, at least 13s to make a full rotation, added to the actual pause we'll take for whatever reason like admiring some beautiful piece of art crafted with love by the devs... Yeah, it seems even less worth the trouble. Too bad for them.
tbh, i wish we could have put normal-flying on specific mounts.. just let me decidice if i want mount X to be old flying, so i can put that mount in my bars and hop onto it if i'm too dumb to land on that small ledge with dragonriding :D
If they do, I hope it doesn't remove glide, as that is nice to have in fights with fall damage, and dungeons / raids where you might want to skip a long stairway by leaping over.
@@CoreyFisher2045 Maybe damn -- I hope it doesn't mean they lose glide. I've been using that to measure heights of mountains, as well as not dying when find self unexpectedly falling. The Gadgetzan teleporter sometimes deposits you fatally high; some fights toss you up for fall damage, or over a cliff.
Anyone else would rather have one mount saved to static flight and another saved to dynamic flight? I'm gonna hate having to cast that before mounting up instead of just clicking on my static flight mount etc.
@@2freeIvX Exactly, we desperately need for some proper acceleration. (but Aquariding first ;) ) Like, visually, 100% already looks ugly and ridiculous on many mounts. Just look at the poor kodos bois who are barely looking natural at 60%, they look like tiny mices! It would just be hideous at 150%. Ground mount has always been flawed like that... What happens if you have skyriding enabled, but mount one of the few flying mounts that doesn't work with skyriding? Do you get to normal fly then, or are you stuck on the ground? Haven't seen anyone confirm how this works yet.
Oh, there is a long time I don't play WoW, and I didn't experienced Dragonflight. So it means that I can fly now and get old achievments with my low lvl characters? Amazing!
It’s going to take so long for me to get used to calling this system, “Skyriding”. It makes sense semantics wise, but it doesn’t sound as cool as “Dragonriding”. I’m loving the focus on evergreen systems too.
With the skyriding or dragonriding or whatever you call it in War within do you still slow fall to the ground if you run out of vigor? That is the only point I hated in dragon isles. I could see slowing down to like 80% speed until a vigor recharges but having to land is a bit much.
I really hope they will update icons for dynamic fly, it will be a shame to have these dragon icons. The same as Shadowlands icons, they changed animations but didn't change the icons. I just don't know why, maybe it's just me but it bothers me a lot.
I wish I could decide which mounts use which type of flight. as a druid main it was amazing to swap to flight form mid flight and just recover vigor. Sad to lose this ability
The Shaman mount from Legion and Ragnaros mount from Cata Classic pack might be able to do it. Jaina's Elemental from Mythic Dazar'alor does use the same rigging but I'm not sure on that one.

@@saqhorov It's true those disks feel fucking old, just look at that fog effect that's just a static animation turning around like it sticks to the mount. It would be so epic to have it turned into an actual fog effect. :/
On the other hand, we have other disks like mage domain mount and from hearthstone event... I still think there's no reason not to have them skyriding like other things. It's would be like the most basic work, adding a few rotating effects, like on a skateboard.
I wish there was a toggle to have specific mounts be dedicated to static flying AND you have other mounts with sky riding. For example, there's times when i am questing around or looking for nodes when I want static flying, but if I'm going long distances, I want sky riding right after. Having to do a full channel ability in order to swap instead of having some kind of mount menu toggle for specific mounts is gonna feel like a bit of a bummer :( It's nice to have both at your disposal for different purposes.
The fact that it's at lvl20 means that unsubbed players can fly and use Dragonriding aka "Skyriding"
Exactly! It was a correct decision
Actually a really smart decision. People try for free, if one of the reasons they like the game is SR, they sub.
ye but also kinda sucks for people who grinded rare ground mounts that will be useful for like 1h of gameplay throught 10-20lvl and i guess instance or two xd
@mtthw1597 that was already the case
@@billabong5366 I mean previous to dragonflight they allowed flying pretty late into a new expantion and if now every exp after that will unlock flying at the start thats makes ground mounts pretty mutch ussleless like i kinda feel bad for this people who for example spend hours of grinding lets say stratholme for deathcharger just for him to now be just at the best scenario cool mount to afk on
Too bad that we have to cast a 5-second spell every time we want to change flight mode.
I can't wait to use Taregosa's Rest transform to actually be a dragon with the skyriding ability.
And I do hope it become available without having the staff equiped.
... Bonus point if you can have this "mount" on other non-magic character.
@@simondemoulin5815 i just came back to wow this year and i havent done it yet, but i watched a video showing a questline in dragonflight that gives you the mount to use without equipping the staff.
@@simondemoulin5815I believe in dragonflight they added a quest that gives you an actual mount version of it if you have the staff
@@simondemoulin5815 They added a questline in 10.1.5 where you do a quest and you get the mount as an actual mount in your mount collection - no staff equipment requirement. The only requirement is that you have the staff unlocked on that character.
It already is, you just need to do the DF quest line on the character that unlocked the staff.@@simondemoulin5815
Huge W. But just gives us 1000% speed :)
Search and rescue teams don't fly at Mach 1 and neither do I when I'm looking for an npc, locations, landmarks, nodes, etc.
I absolutely love these changes! I was talking to a friend a couple of weeks ago about this saying how cool would it be to have like a button to switch between normal and dragonriding for all the mounts. And now this. :D Me happy!
I hope the swift spectral tiger also has the new flying.
Love the mount changes / updates! Really enjoy both types of flying so hope they never take either away.
WHY 5 seconds cast? Could be instant.
Honestly the style of horse skyriding is exactly what I said they should do like back when Dragonflight came out lol.
Wish we could get the slower mount speeds as options as well. Worked great for RP purposes and I miss it.
Did Blizz learn a lesson on what "fun factor" means? Nice!!! I've always HATED the Pathfinder stuff (though I did it because I wanted the advantages of flying on my alts), so these changes are extremely welcome!
Love the new direction blizzard are going with flying, especially ditching the grindy pathfinding achievements! Amazing Video!
Hot take:
I have no problem with the speed outside of the Isles being 1/3 because the zone size outside of the Isles is also 1/3
The flight speed decrease from old dragonriding is horribly noticeable!
Switch Flightstyle 5 sec cast? Why... Just make it instant.
pvp purposes probably
@@joebirkbeck8763 Yup. PVP players will find anything to use/exploit to get an advantage in pvp
and let people exploit it? how often are you going to change it anyway?
Lmao people like you are insufferable
@@pecoliky8793 exploit what? it is a flying mount?
If Druids get skyriding for flight form, do Dracthyr get static flying as an option?
Why haven’t they made a mount equipment for regular ground mounts to fly… I think all the models are already used in other flying mounts
Flying scorpio lol.
But yeah, like horses, why not after all.
Anti-grav horseshoes!
I think the reduction in speed for skyriding has to do with the size of the zones, so you dont cruze everything in a blink of a eye.
700 is ultra slow. seeing now at remix. takes years to go to hof or tot from vally
Except it doesn't feel good and that allong should be a reason not to have different speed. Make no sense for physic based system.
Meanwhile in gw2 they can but momentum as much as they want until it reach thousands if you have the skills. Funny how blizzard always copy but nerf the fun no matter they do.
@@ic3t3ap3ach Slow? OMG! we spent 15y+ flying at 310 and now you''re complaining 700+ is slow? HAHAHAHAHAHA spoiled much?

Me: "Is he gonna say it? C'mon, say it..."
MrGM: "Blaze it"
😏😏😏
i will be adding that switch button to my action bar as i use both styles pending on the situation.
SUBBED. How did I miss this for the past year!?!?!
the one problem i have with the switching being 5 seconds is that if I ever ran out of vigor, I'd swap to a normal flying mount until the vigor came back.
Why? Its perfect now 🧐
9:13 ah ok, I was to quick - then I try to believe you!
Can't wait to see how Mirmiron's head is skyriding
I wish we could assign flight style per mount. For instance I could have some mounts on my action bar that are old style, and some that use dragonriding.. the switching seems too clunky, I'm ok with it, but would like to also be able to assign a few mounts to just be traditional for when I need to AFK above mobs and players etc.
What about the dracthyr, can they fly normally (not skyriding)?
Am I correct in understanding that trial accounts will also be able to "skyride" now. Because that may entice some of my friends to give wow a try.
It is. In fact... already the case.
On MoP remix ! :D
Join us being overpowered thanks to our amazing scaling that allows us to become actually overpowered and easily farm Bronze, all transmogs and 3/4 mounts even with no raid and 3/7 zones! :D
@@Aztonio that's pretty cool. They're not interested in Remix, but with it already being the case there, you are right that it will probably mean it'll be the case in retail too! :D
Honestly in my opinion they can keep the sky riding thing because I really do like the faster flying, but I also would like to be able to stop and hover like I could with normal flight
I can’t wait for sky riding on all my dragon mounts. Specifically Obsidian Worldbreaker and Steamscale Incinerator.
As a druid main flight form dynamic flying is going to be so much fun lol.
I think the switch flight should be instant, and useable while mounted. My main reason is because I like to use static to hover while afk
Hell yeah Druids FINALLY!!
Thanks for the info!! I have 1003 mounts and I’m way too lazy to manually count how many of them are flying or not. Now I know it’s basically half if 500 mounts are tagged for sky riding
is that basically every single mount in the game? 🫣 i’m so curious how long you’ve been playing for, i didn’t even know there’s that many mounts!! do you have a favorite? either way, cheers to the dedication! :)
@@ag6concepts yeah that’s almost every single mount, I think he would only be missing 20 max, many are impossible to get now
@@MichZilla90until they put them in the trading post or store
@@diythI highly doubt they put something like the Grove Warden in the trading post. They’ve been insistent on not bringing back something like the Mage Tower or Challenge Mode appearances so I’m pretty certain Grove Warden and other mounts like it are gone for good.
@@ag6concepts it’s pretty close to being every PVE mount in the game surprisingly enough I only have 2 or 3 PVP mounts. Been playing since 2008. The only mounts that can “drop” that I don’t have are the jailers mount the fyrrak owl and the archeology ultramarine battle tank. Favorite mount is the heavenly onyx cloud serpent
Like that the serpent mounts have new animations and they are good.
He should have been on a Blazing Drake when he showed off 420% flying 😏
I haven't seen any mention of that anywhere yet, so I'm guessing no.
i mean i’d be surprised if they get rid of races completely; they’re probably just not going to be as emphasized as in df
Why wouldn't they create races for WW when they're already creating races for each expansion ? (BTW it's not Total War Warhammer, also, we rather use BC)
Would be good if you could select certain mounts to lock to the 2 different flying. Instead of switching
Great video.
Anyone know if Evokers get regular flight as well with soar? With Druids getting sky riding added to their flight form it seems logical.
If they do, I hope it doesn't remove glide, as that is nice to have in fights with fall damage, and dungeons / raids where you might want to skip a long stairway by leaping over.
They do
@@CoreyFisher2045 Maybe damn -- I hope it doesn't mean they lose glide.
I’m kind of shocked they didn’t increase the speed of ground mounts to at least 150
Need dynamic ground mount
@@2freeIvX Exactly, we desperately need for some proper acceleration. (but Aquariding first ;) )
Like, visually, 100% already looks ugly and ridiculous on many mounts. Just look at the poor kodos bois who are barely looking natural at 60%, they look like tiny mices! It would just be hideous at 150%. Ground mount has always been flawed like that...
And I don't even have any idea how to really make them worth it. I just want fast speed... because it equals to a gigantic and wonderful world. :D Like, if you hope Quel Thalas in Midnight to simply be the BC version remade like in BfA, sincerly, NO. It's probably because you could never fly over it and experience how tiny it is. Technically, it's finally the perfect time time to start... the world rewamp. (we need a 10-20 years project, for the better!)
@@2freeIvX So faster on roads but slower off road and more stamina than flying mounts?
I'm super curious what the flying discs will look like
What happens if you have skyriding enabled, but mount one of the few flying mounts that doesn't work with skyriding? Do you get to normal fly then, or are you stuck on the ground? Haven't seen anyone confirm how this works yet.
Good point! Also, would trying that affect the next mount you cast?
I'm going to be so happy to use my Ashes of Al'ar and invincible mounts again!!!!
I really hope they will update icons for dynamic fly, it will be a shame to have these dragon icons.
The same as Shadowlands icons, they changed animations but didn't change the icons. I just don't know why, maybe it's just me but it bothers me a lot.
"NIMBUS!!!!"
Anyone know if Zen flight is getting an update?
Been slow af since OG MoP
It hasn’t yet
It mostly likely wouldn't.
Two reasons - firstly it's an instant cast
second, blizzard forgot monks exist back in Legion
Because it's not real flying. It's like slowfall+
My take is that switch flight style should be instant, and skyriding without vigor. Quality of life changes are #1 prio.
will be the dk mount what u have as rider of the apokalypse also have this flight ability because thats will be insane
Instant cast for flight style and would be perfect.
I agree with the comments the 5 second animation should be either instant and doable on mount
I wish I could decide which mounts use which type of flight. as a druid main it was amazing to swap to flight form mid flight and just recover vigor. Sad to lose this ability
Honestly the best thing that Dragonflight brought!
Woah, those elemental/void mounts' animations look SICK! Wish I had one.. Aren't most of [the good colors] them unobtainable now?
The Shaman mount from Legion and Ragnaros mount from Cata Classic pack might be able to do it. Jaina's Elemental from Mythic Dazar'alor does use the same rigging but I'm not sure on that one.
Why the f is the switch between flying a 5 SECOND CAST... What a waste of time

The only thing I don't get is why would Skyriding be capped in Warthin zones? That's our new area..
Can't help but think that ability should be instant from skyriding to static flying.
