i wish they had a chromie questline that was just a "the story so far" type thing. a questline where you run scenarios detailing the most important events/questlines/instances from each expansion up to now. you could run it on any character at any time. it wouldnt be able to get everything obviously but it would help a lot for new, old and returning players. you could even make scenarios that are mockups of warcraft 1-3 events, or shit from the books. would only take a few hours to complete the entire questline.
or some kind of Chronicler/Bronze Historian that has a walk and talk scenario where you basically get a guided tour and watch events happen and who major characters are and why you should care about them, like a history Of Thrall or Anduin beginning with their births and ending where they are now kind of thing like if you say Tiffin to a new player some people are like who the fuck is that? put Tiffin in the game Blizz!
Yeah, just casually put in a scenario recalling that time that the entire world fell asleep and had nightmares for days and then walked on stormwind and orgrimmar in one of the biggest apocalypses ever, also this happened just shortly after WotLK. I'm sure people will love seeing that as a sudden scenario retelling of a book.
A few hours of quests to cover 25 years of lore is a pretty big ask, tbh. I don't think that's realistic. Just have chromie time cover 1 single expansion in its entirety now. Put back in the removed critical storylines like the Battle for Undercity and the War of Thorns, also let new player experience the dungeon and raid storylines with follower dungeons and raids.
It's subtle, but interesting that they chose 71 to end chromie time. I would like to think it's blizzard giving you the option to wrap up what you're doing once you hit 70 instead of having to abandon your entire quest log. Convenient! I approve.
Also a better experience for anyone who doesn’t have TWW yet. Before you’d reach max level and be kicked out of content that’s scaled for you without anywhere to go. Now new players can play through all the old expacs before buying the new one without having to know how to freeze their level.
Dragonflight as the default leveling experience is actually a good idea imo. It doesn't have the "HERO, YOU SAVED US COUNTLESS TIMES" vibe like BFA does that makes new players extremely confused. I hope they continue to basically make all previous expansions obsolete and only accessible if you want to, and STOP referencing things that happened with the player character before a certain time (I guess in this case Dragonflight)
That’s not fun for long time players though. To have characters “forget” what you’ve done in previous expansions ruin the lore for the rest of us. I get what you’re saying but new players already know how long the game has been out. We’re 9 xpacs in on a continuous story. I agree there should be something for new players. May something to do a fun lore dump to get caught up on everything going on.

Honestly, I'd be happy if Chromie time just ran to the level cap after you've done it normally once. My biggest holdup with alt levelling is having to do the current expansion over and over and over for it.
Some weeks ago I heard an idea of making a "campaing story mode", it would be a new chromie thing that guides your for all expansion, and in it you would do some of the most important raids, it would be awesome for new people who want to enter the game, and they dont know anithyng about wow or haven far for wow

Good even though leveling in retail is extremely fast it still feels like a pointless chore and classes don't feel fun until you're 60-70 with the full toolkit of spells.
I keep going backwards for me. My favorite part of this game is always been leveling. And every expansion it gets faster and faster to level. We have level boost, we don't need faster leveling.
I'm lowkey mega excited about the reg flying on dracthyr. Being able to just hover with the wings is such a nice change.. plus, flying at lightspeed as a tiny druid in owl form sounds fantastic.
I love dragon isles but I restarted playing in season 3. I am very happy that it will become 10-70 so I can level up alts there and experience it again, hopefully doing the story quests in order this time.

I like that flying speed gets faster even for the regular flight style. Personally, I dislike dynamic flying. It's fun once, but doing it all the time is too much work and gets me motion sickness.
Khaz'Algar has the zones locked to skyriding (formerly dragonflying) regular flying seems to be locked behind some sort of pathfinder. This is currently on the beta.
Regarding Skyriding, do you automatically have Whirling Surge and stuff for fresh accounts? Most people unlocked all the skills by doing the campaign but for fresh accounts that leveled up through dungeons you don't actually get all the abilities (and Nokhud/Tindral require a friend to carry you lol). Just not sure if those are going to automatically unlock or what
I wish option with chromie that you can go and scale selected expansion to your character. I wish to do Loremaster on max level character playing new expansion and for relax "switch" timeline and do ex. TBC or dreanor not insta killing enemies. I know there could be an issue with some group quests (as it may require a bit of rework). Just scaling open zopnes to your character level as a Chromie toggle with her could bring much more fun :)
Zeppelins are what could interest me over dragons. They could be the player housing, just park it anywhere. Customization must be a thing, and it could hold your achievements like a trophy case. There could also be 1v1 arena inside and other minigames. How about a game of chess, Warcraft details, as minigames.
Im very sad Zaralek and Emerald dream doesnt scale at all. 6 zones for 60 levels are way better than 4 only. Also you could complete the whole dragonflight campaign.
I wish they would apply the lvling/xp adjustments whenever they have them fully designed instead of waiting for prepatchs, reducing the xp with the war within is cool and all but it makes lvling alts NOW feel like a waste of my time if in a months time I could accomplish it in under half the time. Which is effectively what is being done, you say its about the same speed it would be now but that's not true, it would be comparable to the 1-60 right now which is only like a half of the lvling time currently. Even on a hyper optimized lvling route right now its about 3-4 hours for 1-60 and then another 2-3 hours for 60-70 assuming you have average luck with dream surges, Cutting the 60-70 xp needed by that much effectively takes like 3+ hours off your lvling time doing an optimized lvling route and even more if your just casually lvling.
The only thing that sucks about this is the timing as it means the pre patch & perhaps the expansion launch itself is likely to happen while MOP remix is still ongoing.
Just feels like Blizz are trying to make the new patch features looks like a revolution in the game as the things they're putting into the game was things we're asking for years. It's nice thought, but man... this game has more than 20 years. Took all this time to make the characters share some progress? 😅😅😅😅 I hope the storytelling is rewarding, and that there are fewer daily mechanics that turn the game into a job again.
You know, I’m a casual WoW player now and have been for a decade since starting a family. I wish Blizzard would allow me to “rebirth” my character. I usually main a Prot Pally, but would like to try the Ret changes coming. It would be easier for me learn the class re-leveling the character rather than creating another one and deleting when I cap. One of the better things I liked playing Diablo 3 was the ability to do that for a seasonal character and try the new things in that season. Let me keep my gear and gold, put it in the bank then give it back when I cap. Similar to the level boost inventory items you get.

I use an addon called "Monkey Speed" I believe that shows a percentage of movement speed as moveable little bar. I recommend it if something like that sounds useful.
Make some extra characters in MOP Remix of classes you want and run a normal raid a day on as many as you'd like. I plan to have a high cape and see if I can go from 30 to 70 on them using the "don't pick up bonus xp" trick. I enjoy playing as different races now because of how easy MOP Remix has been. If they lower it more in pre patch, maybe I'll make something besides blood elves and void elves.
I know I know, it's not their focus and I am not pretending that it does need to be BUT you don't know how much this expansion benefits the f2p community.

So, dragonriding automatically applies to ALL mounts now? Currently, playing MoP Remix, I was enjoying the ability to choose between steady and dragonriding just by which mount I call out. I don't think I enjoy the idea of having to cast a spell to keep switching every time I want to change my flight style, that sounds like annoying tedium. The rest of the stuff is awesome, though. I have *A TON* of alts I never touched during Dragonflight, because of just how sloggy the leveling system felt, and the fact reputations were still not account-wide. Now that they are, I wouldn't mind working on said alts again.

Really wish they'd nerf the amount of exp you get while leveling, it doesn't even feel like a rpg anymore, they may as well just hand out boosts to everyone. They are way too focused on getting players to endgame when alot of people enjoy the journey and levels actually making a difference. But with scaling the way it is it doesnt make much of a difference anyhow. They really need to look into the whole scaling situation at some point
yes. prepatch changes the game to 11.X, meaning all the TWW changes that come to the entirety of the game (such as skyriding to all flying mounts and the warband system) and don't specifically require the xpac become live.
I miss when leveling was a big journey, learning your class, dungeons was somewhat difficult, completing dungeons and getting a level felt like an achievement, we have become too powerful, too fast :

I like being able to use regular flying mounts alongside dragon flying ones it’s easier to get around when you run out of vigor and have to sit around waiting for it to fill up again which can be around 3 mins wasted or when just flying around back and forth to complete quests in a small area back and forth from the quest giver. Having to toggle back and forth is going to be a pain I think.
Any word on how the new quest log works? like, if you're quest 3 out of 10 chain on one toon, and then log in with an alt, can you just pick up? ie: the done quests will be grey, so you know they're done on another toon but not the current one so you can redo them, but how will you know what quests you're on as a player, and where in a chain? ie: is it one shared quest log (would be awesome), or more likely each toon has their own questlog like today, just that quests completion is shared. So is there no way for one toon to know where to go picking up a quest chain in the middle? ie: I'd like to be able to just log in and quest with whichever toon I like, and just keep going .. not have to figure out which uests to pick up at. Or does this even work?
The rules of the game should remain fairly stable at least for a whole season, for a year maybe... WOW is all about the progress of your character according to a certain fixed set of rules and never stopping fountain of dubious changes and innovations ruins the gameplay... This current diarrhea of Blizzard creativity is even far worse than WOW stagnation of previous years. It turned out that Blizzard is completely unable to find the golden middle between still too archaic WOW Classic and the freak show they turned retail version into. Enough is enough.
One big reason I dislike retail is the fact that their solution to making leveling better is to just make it faster to do, instead of making it more fun and enjoyable by adding more flavor, class fantasy, and engaging activities. In DF we had that crafted blue gear that required L61. If there is similar gear at 71 that helps explain it
chromie time is till 61 now, at least it won't port you until 61. They changed that in an early DF patch after complaints, sometime in 10.1 I think

It's gonna hurt having to manually switch flying styles. Having dragonflight and normal mounts immediately accessible is really handy.
For me it’s a no brainer I’m just going to keep traditional flying. I’m not a big fan of dragon flying

Safe to say I'm pretty over it.
dracthyr going to level 10 probably means that there will no longer be a limit on how many you can make. Right now it is 1 per server.
Let's hope. DKs and Demon Hunters are still one per server with the start at level 10.

Sounds like alot of good changes; I'm still on the fence but maybe I'll give the exp a shot in Sept.
They need to add Heroic/Mythic leveling mode which makes mobs tougher... You get rewards when you reach max lvl or something

The best use of in-game-time until TWW is speed running every class to 70 in Mists Remix.

Mop Remix ends on the 19th of August a week before the expansion launches. We will have Mop remix for the pre-patch though

The reduction in XP is the same thing they always do. They do this XP change every expansion to keep the length of leveling the same.

i think the extra xp achievement is a cool idea but i hope u can turn it off. cuz imagine u leveling with ur friend and u just casually level 25% faster
So, dragonriding automatically applies to ALL mounts now? Currently, playing MoP Remix, I was enjoying the ability to choose between steady and dragonriding just by which mount I call out. I don't think I enjoy the idea of having to cast a spell to keep switching every time I want to change my flight style, that sounds like annoying tedium. The rest of the stuff is awesome, though. I have *A TON* of alts I never touched during Dragonflight, because of just how sloggy the leveling system felt, and the fact reputations were still not account-wide. Now that they are, I wouldn't mind working on said alts again.
How does the warband achievement work? if i got an achievement on one character will it on my all characters?

I have 1 issue.... considering Remix.. Pandara.. how/why are Pandaria reps not Warbanded in the prepatch? seems daft, personally.
Because converting the reps is going to take work and they said they were going to work backwards.

I really want to be able to just........play leveling at a nice pace... I guess ill still stick with classic, to enjoy completion etc. Everything about retail wants us to rush to end game, and I dont care about the end, I want the journey back. #FreshClassic ftw

Really wish they'd nerf the amount of exp you get while leveling, it doesn't even feel like a rpg anymore, they may as well just hand out boosts to everyone. They are way too focused on getting players to endgame when alot of people enjoy the journey and levels actually making a difference. But with scaling the way it is it doesnt make much of a difference anyhow. They really need to look into the whole scaling situation at some point

yes. prepatch changes the game to 11.X, meaning all the TWW changes that come to the entirety of the game (such as skyriding to all flying mounts and the warband system) and don't specifically require the xpac become live.
That is a pre-patch change. Go wild on the mog farm!
I miss when leveling was a big journey, learning your class, dungeons was somewhat difficult, completing dungeons and getting a level felt like an achievement, we have become too powerful, too fast :

I like being able to use regular flying mounts alongside dragon flying ones it’s easier to get around when you run out of vigor and have to sit around waiting for it to fill up again which can be around 3 mins wasted or when just flying around back and forth to complete quests in a small area back and forth from the quest giver. Having to toggle back and forth is going to be a pain I think.
Having leveling be in the Dragon Isles is terrible. Talk about making all the other areas completely worthless. That’s not a positive thing at all.

Any word on how the new quest log works? like, if you're quest 3 out of 10 chain on one toon, and then log in with an alt, can you just pick up? ie: the done quests will be grey, so you know they're done on another toon but not the current one so you can redo them, but how will you know what quests you're on as a player, and where in a chain? ie: is it one shared quest log (would be awesome), or more likely each toon has their own questlog like today, just that quests completion is shared. So is there no way for one toon to know where to go picking up a quest chain in the middle?
ie: I'd like to be able to just log in and quest with whichever toon I like, and just keep going .. not have to figure out which uests to pick up at. Or does this even work?

The rules of the game should remain fairly stable at least for a whole season, for a year maybe... WOW is all about the progress of your character according to a certain fixed set of rules and never stopping fountain of dubious changes and innovations ruins the gameplay... This current diarrhea of Blizzard creativity is even far worse than WOW stagnation of previous years. It turned out that Blizzard is completely unable to find the golden middle between still too archaic WOW Classic and the freak show they turned retail version into. Enough is enough.

One big reason I dislike retail is the fact that their solution to making leveling better is to just make it faster to do, instead of making it more fun and enjoyable by adding more flavor, class fantasy, and engaging activities. The end game focus just keeps getting greater and greater and the leveling, which use to be the most fulfilling part of the game, gets more and more insignificant.
