    Dragged my foot in an awkward slant/forward/lateral/twist while throwing jabs and had immediate, intense pain in my right knee with almost no weight-bearing ability. Had to hobble myself out of the gym. I know that this is a reoccurance from a previous lesser tear or sprain, but this time I think was the straw that broke the camel's back :( No weight-bearing for 4 days, immediate swelling, sharp pains with twisting or relaxing down onto a pillow, and suuuuper tender medially. I'm on day 6, did errands with 1 crutch, can walk funky with moderate weight-bearing now and regaining rom with light rehab while laying/sitting. Still cannot extend fully, still have severe stiffness throughout, and still swollen but much less so.
    I believe it's a full tear with stretched ACL & MCL and I'm praying 🙏 the cartilage didn't flap over. Hoping for a full recovery as I've RICEd it continuously and been gentle to it with crutches. I'm giving it 4 weeks for a 90% recovery with 10% left for quad-strengthening rehab.
    PRAY FOR ME IN JESUS'S NAME PLEASE!

    I made the stupid decision to go down a relatively steep road on a VERY unstable caster board, it was a cheap version of the razor ripstick that I usually go down that same hill on. Well anyways, I jumped off to stop myself from swerving off the road (Although it would have been ideal because at least I would have landed on soft grass, but I was going so fast so I couldn't really respond well to the situation). But when I came off my palms slid along the ground first, then my knee twisted and a very recent sore was completely torn off again. That was 3-4 months ago. I just couldn't bear the major pops and clicks followed by not being able to put much weight on that leg a few days after. The knee is 2 times the size of my healthy knee. Well anyway, I saw a doctor and then got an x-ray and ultrasound. There was no damage to the ligaments or muscles and the doctor just told me to put a brace on it. This is what I believe it is. The brace is not at all working and I have noticed that over the months it has progressively became worse. My mum tells me that resting is what I should do, but when I rest all day on my phone she yells at me to spend more time outside. I just don't know what to do anymore, in a couple of years I will be riding my horse and I just don't want this to have such the affect as it does now.

    It has been 3 weeks since my "Injury." There was no specific injury but they told me Arthritis is the culprit. I had been laying on the sofa and went to get up and my knee/leg did not want to flex or bend. I barely could walk and climbing stairs was impossible without taking weight off the leg. In the following days, I needed a cane to walk. Meanwhile I was told I likely had a torn Meniscus. A week later 2 huge bruises appeared. One behind the knee and the other on the inside of the thigh. Now, I feel healed. My knee is normal and I can do about all I did before and even fold the leg--foot against the thigh!! I still have the thigh bruise but it is dissolving slowly.

    I had a horizontal minuscus tear and only God knows how painful it was for me. The pain would come and go. But when it came it was like a wave of pain throughput my leg down to my ankle. It was sort of a bone deep pain whenever I had a flare up. Gosh it was painful before I had the surgery.

    I walked upstairs, and all of a sudden, excruciating pain in my knee, a popping noise, and my leg collasped forward. Didn't know what I had done. Had to crawl to my bed and realised that I couldn't bend or put weight through my leg. At the time I thought I had a MCL tear as that was really sore. Took to elevating, iceing and rest. Needed crutches for a week before I could put weight through my leg again, only for the knee to buckle and collaspe again. Only then did I seek medical advice. The problem is initially the whole knee hurts and is swollen inside and out, so it's difficult to work out what exactly is causing the pain. Mine settled into the joint line on the medial side and the MCL gradually improved. MRI, showed a large medial meniscus tear. Quite a shocker of an instant injury from nowhere. Oh and I needed strong pain meds after the second collaspe.

    I felt the big pop in my knee, MRI showed 1 larger year and 1 small. Surgery next Monday,can't wait to get this over with and get to recovery. It happened in my left knee,squatting,crouching,twisting or carrying anything too heavy is definitely something you want to avoid. I had a cortisone, a Durolane gel injection ($460) and a $1000 brace that hasn't helped at all. Surgeon deemed it necessary as nothing outside of surgery will help.

      @nolby1758 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ancientdiscoverys it's been 2 weeks exactly today. Still quite sore,the swelling has been tough with moving and bending but just keep icing and anti-inflammatory medications. I never really had a terrible amount of pain until I started walking slowly without crutches and then I started to use muscles I hadn't used in a bit. You will be given exercises you start literally the day after your surgery, stretches,movement and light muscle focusing workouts. They're not fun but have to make sure you do them. I've been walking about 5 days now without crutches,taking it very slow,stairs are slow but it's progress. Don't be scared of the surgery,the recovery time can be fast if it's simple. They had to insert a screw into mine so I don't know what that means for my recovery but he will let me know when I have my post op appointment on the 24th.

    I had a 2nd degree mcl tear as well as a harsh meniscus tear in the same play in hockey, in which I hurt it during the first 10 minutes, being stupid I played the rest of the game and fell on it a few times, Burning and sharp feeling the entire time. I couldn't move the knee at all in the morning. ... Its been 12 weeks now, the mcl has finally tightened up, but the meniscus is still causing me stiffness and some pain after rehab or light exercise. No pain once when the joint is all warmed up, when its warm it feels like it used to.... But as soon as rest a bit, it stiffens up. I was advised that no surgery is necessary.....Damn knee injuries. Can take a week and it can take years. Always clicks, I have full range of motion, still some pain on the medial side when I twist, or push off on my right leg, in hockey.

    • @sg72792
      @sg72792 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      18 weeks. Mcl Is healed up. Meniscus pain is still present when moving in or getting out of bed. Stairs are no issue. I am back to playing hockey, and back in the gym, but not without a solid warm up. Stiffness does start an hour or so after exercise and lingers for a day. Of course some days are better than others. Id say from my last post, it has improved from 5/10 to at least a 7.5/10. My knee always clicks as well.
      Strength is about 8/10 back to normal.

    I think I have a moderate one in my left knee, happened a few years ago, my symptoms are when it happens (it will be fine for months on end then suddenly bam it happens) sharp excruciating pain in my knee like im being stabbed, feels wobbly and my knee bends typically to the left, I lose balance and hit the ground, then it's swollen and stiff and the amount of time varies but typically for a week or so. And because it's stiff I walk with a limp or so till the swelling goes away. I can still fully extend my knee and walk on it it bends forward and backwards like it should.

    I had a meniscus tear, had surgery, they failed to repair the tear, and did a lateral release (I was later told that it's Standard Procedure to do a Lateral Release while in there) and made matters much worse. Two years later and pain and weakness is still present. Surgeon (Chief of Staff) and hospital would not return my calls. Tried to do a lawsuit, but could not afford $35,000 for a professional to go to court and testify on my behalf. PLEASE, before any surgery READ all paperwork thoroughly. Once you sign those documents you give the surgeon, the hospital and those involved carte blanc to butcher you and you have NO recourse.

      Chinookvalley I'm struggling to understand why you're filing a lawsuit. If they performed a lateral release after you received damage to the meniscus, what more did you expect them to do? Weakness will be due to your lack of coherence with a rehabilitation program, or the extent of damage received initially. A meniscectomy does not guarantee you will be rid of your pain and weakness, it only delays the onset. Pain will forever be present regardless. You have to understand that your knee will never be normal.

    • @077jess
      @077jess 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      what was your results? If you mind me asking. I'm in a sticky situation right now. I tore my medial meniscus of my left knee in 2014 and had it repaired the same year. Had an MRI and arthogram a few weeks ago and said I retore it. Each of these tears I have no idea how the hell I tore them, because I gave up running years ago, due to having six knee surgeries and patellofemoral pain for 8 years. so I literally do nothing physical. It aggravates me! Just my luck I just got a new job and literally found out this bad news the same week. My knee keeps giving out, the pain isn't excruciating, but very uncomfortable. But no locking or noticeable major swelling. I keep having wishful thinking and thinking that I wont need surgery. I will say this, I refuse to have another repair, too long of recovery and too risky that it will just tear again. Ughh so anyways was your a meniscus tear too and if so what r u going to decide on for treatment?

    • @DCFunBud
      @DCFunBud 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The MRI showed I had a small degenerative (old age) tear in my medial (inside) meniscus with bruising on my femur. The doctor gave me a cortisone shot and prescribed a knee brace by DONJOY that puts pressure on the outside of the knee to open it up to allow the meniscus to heal. The knee still hurts but it is much much better after the cortisone shot. If my knee continues to give me trouble, surgery may be an option to "clean up" the meniscus. I am also 60 lbs overweight which puts significant pressure on the knees. Hope your knee gets better!

    • @077jess
      @077jess 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the reply :) Man these meniscus injuries are just awlful aren't they. I start a new job tomorrow, I was so excited a few weeks ago and looking fprward to It until I had this incident. I think what makes me most upset is that I literally do nothing physical anymore and this is what I get! I just want to be able to live normal life, I gave up running and sports for good. Are you working?? I am thinking about getting a cortisone injection maybe for just short term relifef. I just got this job so I can't be getting surgery this quickly, even though I don't even know if my knee will handle it. sigh. I have also heard people talking about stem cell and PRP injections to heal the meniscus since it can't heal on its own. I just don't want to have it repaired again, because I'm scared of having a third tear and that would involve time of work. Have you ever had a clean up of menisucus before? Or is this your first one? I heard that if they just remove the damage most people are up and going within days. I would lean toward that just because of work

    • @DCFunBud
      @DCFunBud 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to be very careful when you have orthopaedic/pain issues because they can lead to weight gain and the weight gain can lead to more ortho/pain issues. You have to keep moving in some manner. Immobility itself can lead to more ortho/pain. It's a real challenge because now you have two battles and weight issues can lead to all sorts of problems, heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc. It's a real challenge getting older. You are constantly having to adapt to a new situation which usually comes down to changing the way you eat. Good luck on your new job!
