Turn off traction control, and turn on the four wheel lock mode! This will make all 4 wheels work in a locked mode. Also, it is best to have the low temperature rated off road mud-snow tires. I use these tires in the severe Canadian winters with great success with a Murano AWD having the lock mode option.
My MO is a very capable vehicle in every condition but what you folks have to remember is that it's the driver behind the wheel that makes the vehicle work. B/w I am the author of this vid, and would put the MO's up to any Subaru
I was rooting for the Murano. Although it is predominately a front wheel drive vehicle, its system kicked in even on compacted snow which is a slippery as ice allowing it to accomplish its mission.
Good video. I work in oil fields which get very miserable when it rains or snows/melts, so I need to get a 4x4/awd vehicle.I've been interested in the Murano, and this video made me more confident (I'm sure you would have made it with winter tires easily). I love my new TSX, but the Murano seems to be a vehicle that will be nice enough to drive so I don't go into TSX withdrawal on the job.
The new ones are not as good as old ones. Specially the non Japanese ones. If its Made in Japan its still a quality car. But again with CVT its not meant to be used offroad
There is a reason why you have AWD lock on your Murano. Learn to to use it! Also when you are on an icy surface and have the AWD lock enabled your best to put the Murano in "L" gear so the wheels doing spin. Anyone with skid control experience would say the same. :)
I really want to buy a Murano but I don't know if it can't go through the bad bad snow I get here in pa can any of you guys with one and bad snowy areas tell me how your Murano does all year around but in the snow the most? please and thank you all.
I own a 2006. It is excellent in snow. The automatic all wheel drive works well, and in serious situations, you can lock it in permanent 4WD mode (must stay under 20 mph or it disengages). I drove it in harsh central PA winters. It did great.
Murano is good car because it offers a lot of nice features for little money. like heated steering wheel, heated seats, usb port for media playback, etc. i have a 2012 Murano SL AWD. i like it but i do have some issues with it. one HUGE problem with the Murano is that the headlights are extremely weak. very hard to see the road at night. another issue (with the newer models) is side mirror visibility. the cars awkward shape makes things to your side hard to see. aside from that, great car
Your headlights are probably fogged up because UV light breaks down the coating on those plastic polycarbonate lenses, and it kills the brightness. I periodically polish mine off and put some clear UV coating on them. It only lasts a year or so before I have to do it again, but it only takes about 20 minutes and beats spending $$$ for all new headlight assemblies. They are blindingly bright when they are clear and unfogged.
nice nice thats a good car u will love it my uncle has an xterra and whenever o go on snowboarding trips and such i always borrow his car just for fun even tho my ml320 or a4 could do it just as well in bad conditions
ohh ive driven a subaru their awd system is great because the engine is vertically mounted. Btw i drive a audi a4 with quattro awd. But on any car that offers awd and u see the engine is horizontally mounted u kno the awd system is gonna be shit because the rwd only kicks in when the front wheels lose grip and sometimes it dosent work. Plus what most people dont understand is that there is a torque split between the wheels that make all the difference.
Maybe the Murano isn't the best vehicle for the situation...BUT, who wants to be seen in a Suburu...or any other comparable vehicle for that matter... Great car.
Gently pump the gas pedal. The wheels should never stop spinning, only slow down and speed up, with practice, you can feel when to get the best grip to move along.
@krenkey actually, it was a test of traction - those look like All-Season tires where snows or winter tires owuld do better, I imagine. And yes, A Subi could tow that much weight, too.
This is proof that the 2017 and newer can tow more than 1500 lbs. I believe the engine and cvt has not changed in horsepower or torque. But yet tow way less?
is it me or do the wheels looks i dunno like cg or fake when there spinning i dunno its just looks like a video game or something, i dunno. Very cool vid the murano is a beast
BTW it was a very risky idea couse when you climbed a little bit you could loose the traction and thn you could lose your boat and your car in that lake.
Tires. I do not understand why people who do offroading or live in elements like this still have street tires. Yes, it is AWD. And yes, it helps to have all terrain tires in mud and ice.
Dont drive straight, just drive zig zag way to get more clutch on the slippery surface...it was very dangerous, the car could be pulled into the water...
@BranfIakes i doubt any other comparable car.suv would have better luck with same tires. as you can see its so slippery car slides down by itself. i'm not dissing suby, they have probably the best AWD system out there, just saying that this particular situation is crappy lol
How one properly does this is with a man on each side of the tongue and lift and quickly walk sideways with the car. also laying boards down with nails protruding into the ice providing traction.
+Simon G. it was a test of how the AWD system handles and operates in the conditions....I knew how to get out I wanted to see if the vehicle was smart enough.
+mike Brisson I dont think smarts can play a roll here, the system does switch to all wheel drive automatically, but no vehicle is going to pull a trailer with loaded boat through 3-4 feet of water over ice, you have no traction, getting out was pure luck, had the grade been steeper, getting out, impossible.lol
I'm not going to lie, that's pretty fucking impressive!
next time bring cat litter and leave laughing boy home .
I drive the exact model and year. Great on snow and ice 👍

I have a 2007 Nissan Murano with over 206,000 miles and I drive it like a TrackHawk
unfortunately you can't turn off the traction control in the gen of Murano. Might have something to do with how shitty the TC is to begin with lol
@@5tig_ They dont have TC
@@annakessler9372 VDC was available as an option.
1st Mistake - Not putting AWD Lock on
2nd Mistake - letting off the gas
and leaving traction control on was the 3rd mistake
Older models don't have traction control.
udeva I got a 2004 and it has traction control
My bad then, I had a 2003 Murano SL and it didn't have traction control. So maybe it is an add on from factory.
only thing i hate about these vehicles is the cheap plastic parts and fuel economy is poor
My MO is a very capable vehicle in every condition but what you folks have to remember is that it's the driver behind the wheel that makes the vehicle work.

Go Go Goooo Nissan Murano , good job
So floor it works! That's an amazing tow the Murano did on snow ice with no chains and a load.
Good video. I work in oil fields which get very miserable when it rains or snows/melts, so I need to get a 4x4/awd vehicle.I've been interested in the Murano, and this video made me more confident (I'm sure you would have made it with winter tires easily). I have a 2007 Nissan Murano with 212,000 miles and it’s getting better with age 🍷
Murano would probably be my Fav car/crossover. I just replaced my 2006 to a 2017.
The new ones are not as good as old ones. Specially the non Japanese ones. If its Made in Japan its still a quality car. But again with CVT its not meant to be used offroad
WOW!!! It's actually a VERY good job for an AWD car that is NOT supposed to be driven off road! +1
I have a murano and it is a 2006 i will never get rid of it
That murano is perfect
Powerful :D
I have a 2007 Nissan Murano with over 206,000 miles and I drive it like a TrackHawk
where did the score board come from? the murano did the job, did it not? and where was the subaru in this video?
Had summer tires on, the MO has 4 WD lockers and traction control to disperse the power to find traction
I love MURANO!!!
I have a 2007 Nissan Murano with over 206,000 miles and I drive it like a TrackHawk
Good winter tyres and he would pull that out.
@krenkey Hey man i just bought a 2006 "MO" AWD SE, did you lock the 4wd? From what ive heard and by watching this video the mo's are badass.
What are they doing with a boat on a lake in winter anyways?
Fishing 🎣
i got a used 04 Murano for under 10K with only 82K miles on it, this Murano in the video is from 2003-2007 body style

all i say cvt gearbox + towing equals kaaaaaboom
Kevin McKenna all depends on how it's made
Oh man, seeing it go backwards while on drive makes me cry. Was the transmission okay after that?
wait for me, dude
fishing better be worth it...

press the 'all wheel lock' button and you will be out on the first try.
Would like to know what tires he has? Good winter tires shouldn’t have a problem
approximately 3500 lbs 1/2 fuel
I'm very impressed. Camera man could have pushed with the boat until the prop was out of the water. Mo still did it on its own. "" "

Some Blizzak DM-V1 tires would have helped here. A Rubicon would have slipped here, tires make the difference.

I love the murano

i bought my 2012 Murano SL AWD new in December of 2011 for 32.5k before tax and DMV fees. sticker price is 39.5k for this model

This is only the legit video that show this model Murano going up a snowy hill and it’s awd
turn off traction control fool!!!
Looks like the AWD is working fine, just not heavy enough?

Not sure about this model year but our 2011 has AWD lock.

i have a 2005 Munano, which one is urs?
A note should be made that the length of that pull in total is 1/2 mile. -10 degrees C 20 centimeters of snow with freezing rain fell the day before.
is the 2.5 DCI(diesel engine) available in USA?
Seba Seba no
Have you ever heard of AWD lock, can a Subi or what ever it is you call it even pull a boat that size
that was a front wheel drive damn cant believe it made it
I've got some Pirelli's on her for this next winter.
No!! What you need is a Land Rover! Cant blame the tires when it wasn't in AWD lock, but a Land Rover/ Range Rover would have made short work :)
hahaha you forget about AWD lock?? xD it works
very good job. it was a difficult situation
is it me or do the wheels looks i dunno like cg or fake when there spinning i dunno its just looks like a video game or something, i dunno.

1:09 and 2:52, love the video commentary
Update this comment!

my dad has an 06 king cab nissan frontier 4x4 and it could go through 3 4 maybe 5 inces of soft mud!
Did you need to fishing THAT BADLY? LOL
Are these murano reliable ???
Yes as long as you don’t drive it like a racecar
bro what the hell first it was in FWD then AWD and finally RWD the hell is going on?
when in doubt, throttle out
But did u catch anyfish?
Who let this jerk drive? That thing could have made it out first try if they let a man drive it.
***** Hahahaha! The whole time I'm thinking punch that shit just let it claw it's way out!

Success! "WEIGHT FOR MEE"
Really need to lock it and stop backing up.. if your car slid on the ice like it did when you braked YOU wouldn't have the car anymore..
Put on 4x4 lock !
It was a test of the AWD system "dumbass" throwing the lock no shit
i guess youve never driven a subaru
Очень любопытно , вариатор в итоге ремонтировали после такого или нет😊
Вопрос времени
1:08 lol he almost had it
damn right it could do it.
Trucks could not get up the hill so I did what they couldn't.
And no snow tires
@krenkey Subaru makes THE BEST awd systems so I guess yes it can...
Sure towing the boat isn’t helping the awd
you prob would have gotten out quicker if you were not balls to the walls and eased the throttle.
Good
Three feed of snow lol
I love subies but that's a derpy comment
Mitsubishi Pajero would do it at first try ;)
Diff lock and go on mountin
Should have locked the AWD, would of pulled out with no problem.
Upsssss finaly hahahhahaa
@TheXela79 sure,go try this with a smart car tell me if you can do it?
How one properly does this is with a man on each side of the tongue and lift and quickly walk sideways with the car. also laying boards down with nails protruding into the ice providing traction.
