It's honestly crazy how good the GH5 still is. I have the GH6, but I definitely use the GH5 a ton still. And as someone who shoots solely on anamorphic lenses, it's pretty much perfect for my particular workflow
@@IndieFilmArmy It's a great cam. What I love most about it (besides the fact that it's PERFECT for anamorphic lens shooting) is how easy it is to use. It just does what I want it to do with as little hassle as possible. The Q-Menu and programmable button functions are GODSENDS! Oh, and internal ProRes is nice too!
Love this! Seeing videos like this make me realize I don't need to spend more money on an upgrade when I haven't mastered this camera fully. A lot of videos on the GH5 say that they actually use the natural over Vlog. If i'm only doing some minor color grading, do you still think I should add Vlog?
The GH5 is still a remarkable camera after all these years. Incredible image quality, beautiful colors, and the IBIS really smooths out those handheld shots!
I just shot a feature film on my S5, which is my favorite camera ever, meaning the original S5, but I also have a GH5 that I found for $475 on eBay that I love almost equally as much. It’s an amazing creative tool for sure. Great video, thanks for sharing.

@@IndieFilmArmy Just finished, so it's navigating the film festival circuit for a while before it'll be available to watch. You can see my first feature though, shot on my phone (LG V40) during the pandemic. It was originally a solo play that I was set to open at the Signature Theatre here in NYC June 12th 2020, but you know that didn't happen, so I adapted the script to a screenplay and made a movie. Greatest experience of my life from the biggest disappointment. Crazy. You can see it at a bunch of streaming services, check Tubi TV, search Rock WILK, The Center of Distance, if you're really interested. Based on a true story about my search for my biological mother. Crazy story.
Thank you very much for this video. I am just upgrading from a 1080p camcorder to a Panasonic 4k mft camera. Can you tell me, do I need a speedbooster and EF lenses to make a short film, that can be shown on a big screen at a film festival, or can I just use decent glass with the mft mount, such as Sirui anamorphic 50mm f1.8. I did wonder if I could use the GH4 and export 4:2:2 into a Ninja V and record that footage on ssd and edit and grade in Resolve Studio, or would I be better going for the GH5 with the same set up? Thanks.
Thanks to all the folks who are determined to have the latest and greatest, and who are too lazy (lol) to manual focus that the GH5 is so cheap, I was able to buy one off ebay for $430 USD. I also grabbed a GH4 for good measure. I absolutely don't need anything else. I have a GH2 that died at a wedding a few months back, that was an awesome camera hacked.
I get pretty sad sometimes these days on TH-cam realizing so much stuff is just about the latest and greatest. I totally understand that and I understand people wanting their gear to be the best it can possibly be, but the GH5 or mkii or GH5s are still incredible cameras and their price is ridiculous. I keep meaning to make a video on the GH5ii because honestly it’s 80% of the camera the GH6 is for even less money
I completely agree, Rhett! It's a shame, but sooner or later, more people will realize that footage samples shot by all of the cameras starting at the gh4 onward in the GH series will become indistinguishable.
@@IndieFilmArmyI used the GH4 (I sold it) GH5 and GH6. The footage is really different between the 3 cameras. Details rendering and colors are very different. The GH6 has the nicest colors from the 3. The GH5 has nicer details (when sharpness is set all the way down). The GH4, well ... I don't know if it's because nostalgia but it had some mojo ... I miss this camera.
