I hadn’t thought of it this way and there’s a damn good chance you’re right.
The pharmacies are the same in Colombia. You go and describe or show symptoms and they’ll give you something. I asked for nasal spray once and ended up getting a spray that was just saline. So the next time I had to ask very specifically for congestion.
Now Spanish is more native to Tatis than me, but it’s quite easy to believe he walked into a pharmacy showed them his neck and they gave him a spray.
The biggest error is not telling the team doctor. I can’t put myself in his millionaire shoes, but I’m an idiot guy too, I could easily see myself getting a spray and using it without thinking twice, because who would think that a skin spray would contain steroids. But when you’re at his level, that phone call to the team doctor has to be placed.

The problem with baseball, as with many other sports is the people "in charge" of testing have zero incentive to find anything. The League only cares about viewership and thus did nothing when drugs were allowing players to hit more runs, get more bases and basically make a more exciting game.
If nothing else the fact the punishment for getting caught is only a suspension of games and not banning from the sport is a good sign they don't really care.

Testing really doesn't matter. The lack testing probably would make it easier to get caught because juicers might get lax in their usage and not take the precautions to not test positive. Then they suddenly get tested after all the no-testing. They'd be like "oh shit! I didn't take the diuretic."
The test can be passed easily if you take an organic diuretic. (Organic diuretic is undetectable.) The increase flow of urine, dilutes the urine. The way testing is done is only a urine test initially. If you test negative for banned substances, there is no more testing. IT'S THAT SIMPLE!
With this system of testing and the player is using an organic diuretic, they only way you can get caught is if you are tested right after dosing.

Performance enhancers are extremely common in all professional sports, it has never gone away. It's pretty common with serious athletes starting in high school. Even the testing protocols from the different leagues are made extremely lenient (intentionally), to where as you would have to mess up pretty badly to get caught. If you have ever played in a major professional sport or worked for one of the teams, you would get a better picture of the reality. Between the MLB, NBA, and NFL - I would say about 98% are enhancing in one way or another that would technically be against the rules (but most could still pass the testing). Let's be honest - it's all about the money to the teams and athletes. The better the athletic output, the more money to be made. Drug testing is strictly to keep the every day fan believing everything is being done completely naturally. You can't just deny enhancers are being used, it's pretty obvious. But you can't tell the truth, you don't want to inspire generations of youth to take dangerous substances. Definitely a conundrum.

I still think it was a poor choice to vilify the 'steroid era players' of the 90's and early 2000's as much as the media and some fans did considering the history of it in the sport (as well as other sporting leagues). If a player gets caught with a banned substance in their system, suspend them, and move on. The MLB has never fully recovered attendance-wise, viewership-wise, and their reputation since that era. Baseball fans have a bad habit of romanticizing the game so much in their head on how it should be played and how it 'use to be', but then forget there was weird and nutty shit happening in every era of the sport that doesn't make any decade more or less moral than the other

If you are a multi million dollar athlete who has a world class training staff at your disposal, how could you possibly "accidentally" take anything? If I knew my season and my livelihood was on the line, I would run EVERYTHING by my training staff before taking ANYTHING. It's ridiculous, his GM was beside himself and spoke to Tatis' lack of maturity. This is yet another example of the San Diego Padres not being ready to be winners on an organizational level.

@@alexandervargas79 Name 1 other MLB player who has been suspended for using this. It's pretty obvious to anyone with any common sense that Tatis' rehab was taking a bit longer than he would have liked. He likely lost some strength (anybody would after wrist surgery) and was looking for a little help. The vast majority of MLB players are extra careful and don't take stuff without running it by their training staff. That's why only 1-2 players get suspended per year. Other than some disillusioned Padres fans, NOBODY buys Tatis' excuse. Dude has 340 million reasons to pay more attention to what he puts in his body.

If he wanted help to gain back loss muscle mass, he has the money to get better PEDs that are harder to detect and will give him a performance boost. Not one that will prolong his injury and have little results in performance gains. This video explains why it make no sense for Tatis to willing take the substance he took for performance gains. He shows that the spray Tatis used for ringworm is widely available and recommended in the DR. Its like the problem talked about in the video went over your head.

They should adopt the Pro cycling testing protocols. When not at an event, those cyclists can be tested on 2 hours notice any day of the year. They have to provide their whereabouts for everyday of the year in advance and there is a notification window of change in location - they can't change locations last minute. During events, they can get tested anytime. They have even woken competitors up at 6am for testing during the Tour de France.
Procyclists are not unionized, so I am guessing that's what keeps testing standards more in player's favor in the American pro sports.

There have been some studies with slight positives & others with slight negatives. None of the effects were that significant in any of the studies. Though it does absolutely help with healing bones & it was the wrist fracture that I'm pretty sure the video was referring to when talking about the healing affects of hGH.

So there I was minding my own business when I hear TNT by AC/DC coming from my pocket. I wonder why is Grandma calling at this hour? I answer. She says help help I've fallen and I cant get up. I have to go help granny right away, I run out the door and start heading to her place and quickly realize that running is not my best idea as she lives 5 miles away. I try to order an uber but nobody is available. I call for a cab but they don't run to the area. So I decided to throw up my thumb and see what took. Thats when a black van pulled up beside me. Before I knew what was happening they had me in the back with a bag over my head. I tried to ask where they were taking me and they struck me over the head knocking me out cold. When I woke up I was in a hospital in Mexico and I had no idea what was going on. A doctor came over and explained that they found me outside the doors in bad shape and had fixed me up. I asked for a phone to call my family and tell them I was ok and to check in on grandma and he left to get me a phone. That's when I saw it out of the corner of my eye. A bag of blood. Hooked right up to me, I must have needed a transfusion. I squinted my eyes and I was just a ble to make out the donor information label... B. Bonds... And that's how I tested positive. Not my fault

It DOES make sense, it adds bat speed which adds to your power increasing your HR's. Barry Bonds used the excuse he didn't know what his personal trainer was injecting him with. Every single one of these Dominican players run back home the day the season ends and starts using again to get ready for the next season. Some even invite teammates who not surprisingly seem to be "bigger" at the start of the next year. Steroids are legal in all of these Latin countries so I'm not surprised to hear most players run there to prepare for the next season. The only reason why the MLB stopped testing was COVID, they didn't want to lose fans because their favorite player might get caught and have to be suspended for some time.

It’s a problem leagues don’t want to crack down on because it makes games more excited but they have to fake like they actually care about stopping it. It makes games more excited but is overall detrimental to the sport and the people that want to become professionals. Many abuse these substances and die at a young age. Bear in mind Tatis Sr was also a known juicer, so cheating runs in the family. Even on the infinitesimally small chance he isn't lying, he has an obligation to not use substances without checking with the team doctor. Shows his immaturity, especially after the motorcycle incident.

Tatis is legit though...he hasn't been taking PEDs during his career. He has only done it recently but that was just to heal faster. Unfortunately, he reputation is now ruined because people only see "TATIS TAKES PEDS" and thats all they read.

It's almost like the ringworm medication doesn't have PEDs in it. It has a substance that sound similar, but is different and would not trigger the test to show positive. Tatis' made up one of the worst excuses ever.

I love baseball, something about this sport that just draws me to it more then other team sports. But the cheating is just terrible. From steroids to sign stealing it’s bad. And what’s worse is that the mlb is most likely hiding most of it. For instance the Astros, loved watching them in 2017 then the sign stealing happened and it really cast a shadow over them. But to think that they were the only team using this is naive. Bc if the small Astros were doing it the big Yankees and dodgers with a lot of pressure to win were most likely doing it and that’s the shitty thing about the mlb they’re covering it up. Use a team and a couple players as a scape goat instead of coming clean.

So many people try to pass off the Astros sign stealing and say to move on, it was 5 years ago, yada yada. I hate it. It’s history. It’s a complete black stain on the best sport in the world.
It is history. It is shown so it’s never forgotten, and to never forgive MLB for such little action. That franchise is forever tainted and will live on forever

@@billcosby668 wrong. You completely missed the point of what you're responding to.
The Astros absolutely were not the only team to cheat. That same season, the MLB covered up the Apple Watch cheating by the Red Sox and Yankees. The MLB scapegoats the average popularity Astros and did nothing to the Sox and Yankees.
When I think cheater I immediately think of steroid users like David Ortiz who still hasn't explained his failed test, Ryan Braun who lied and ruined a guys life and Barry Bonds, who never failed a test but miraculously hit 70 bombs at 39 years old and had his head grow to a size 9. Insane.
The Astros hit a trashcan, bro. Nobody cares 5 years later. But everyone still hates a roid cheat.
