    I'm 52 years young. I've been playing guitar since I was 5. That's 47 years of guitar fury. I recently bought the Sun Valley Super Shredder with the Sustainiac and the maple neck. BEST DAMN GUITAR I'VE EVER PLAYED - BARR NONE - AND I'VE PLAYED THEM ALL.
    EDITED TO ADD: The neck is perfect - and I do mean PERFECT - for me. I have short fingers and unlike a lot of guitars I've played down through the years, I could never comfortably do the thumb over the fretboard old school trick ala Hendrix, Clapton, SRV etc. With this guitar, I can. The pups are VERY good and if you're like me and have smaller fingers, this guitar is right up your alley.

    Thanks for the honest reviews guys! We pride ourselves on our QC and the Floyd slipping is not typical! We will be sure to address it with our set-up team. Sometimes one gets by. =)

      Schecter Guitar Research Inc Thanks for the comment... no biggie... if we all work together, we can catch stuff like that and improve the products... the guitars are great... if we now get small stuff like the setup and wrong descriptions on the websites happening, Schecter has a killer product... in the days of TH-cam, the direct feedback from the viewers helps to make things move bit faster.... I am glad I could check out these guitars and I am looking forward to more Schecter reviews!

      Well, I own a black Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S and I have the same problem. Guitar went out of tune quite fast and I have found, that I have to tighten up saddle locking screws after each playing. Since I do this, it stays in tune almost perfectly for long period of time. I don't know the reason, maybe the friction of stainless steel screws is lower in the thread. Just to mention, I use the same strings on all of my guitars, each of them Floyd equipped and none of them behaves like that. Otherwise, it is great guitar and I really love it.

      The problem with the special Floyd is that the cube in the saddle that holds the string is soft. This leads to a scar that the string makes on the cube's surface that causes the string to unstrap. If you use stainless steel the problem is solved. Had the same problem.

    The Sun Valley super Shredder is in my opinion one of the best super Strat ever produced. I have one and it has become the only guitar I play and record with. Hands down best sounding EMGs I've ever heard.

    I like pulling the plastic off. It insures me that I'm the actual first person to play this guitar and unlocks it but this guitar has not been repackaged from someone else's purchase..... it gives me a tiny little feeling of satisfaction of being the first

    OMFG YES! It is NOT seafoam green! I have been saying that since I got the thing. It is blue. It is the most amazing color for a guitar ever. I get emotional looking at it. Owning this guitar makes me want to play 10x as often!

    21:53 I totally agree. Every time I play Ernie Ball Strings they feel less smooth or older than what I'm used to (D'Addario). When I bought my Schecter I restrung it almost right away with NYXL.

    The plastic on the pick guard is not put on to prevent scratching in the stores.....it comes on the full sheets of plastic ...likely 4 foot by 8 foot sheets....and it helps from chipping and scratching while the guard is punched out and machined into shape.

    and last the outer strings

      if you start tuning from the fat E downwards, as you tune, the spring tension changes and it goes out of tune, then you get frustrated xD
      with the way i suggest, the tension changes more evenly and after you repeat 2-3 times and lock it, the floyd becomes the most stable bridge available !!!

    The plastic you are ripping off comes with the pickguard material, they leave it to protect it during the drilling and all the work that comes after, certainly they could take it off before putting it into boxes, but probably they will leave pieces under the knobs and stuff, so they leave it so it becomes your problem.

    • @chunk4funk
      @chunk4funk 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Salinas .... surely you jest .. at what point did you become so lazy that peeling the pick guard plastic, the final step in making the connection & ensuring it's all yours ... clean & scratchless ... you want someone else to do, so it an be scratched just so you can bitch.

    Throw those string block screws and blocks away & get the string through bridge screws. I have them on all of my Floyd Rose equipped guitars. There’s only one kind of them that actually allow the ball end to rest inside though. I’ll make a video if enough people ask.

    When you do these demos it would be awesome to hear it through the gainy amp sounds rather then just a pedal through the clean. Dont get me wrong the Pinnacle is great (its my number one distortion pedal) but you have amps beggin to be cranked for high gain haha. These both sound too warm for shred guitars to my ears, the Charvel stuff seems more in the vein for lead (these would be good for thick Dokken rythmn tones though).

  • @ericwright3646

    You mentioned "getting stuck" a bit. the cause is the maple fretboard. I have owned several guitars with rosewood and ebony, but i picked up an American Strat with a maple fretboard and I experienced that getting stuck feeling as well. The guitar plays like a dream, but it has that stucky feeling too. Only maple fretboard I've ever owned. I love the look of the maple, but it's just not as playable as the rosewood or ebony.

    Some concerns I have about this guitar. I purchased a sun valley, but it doesn't say sun valley. It says diamond series. Did the place sell me the correct guitar? Shouldn't it say sun valley below the schecter logo by tuners instead of diamond series? Also the guitar sounds so much better in all the TH-cam videos than the one I have. The pickups do say EMG, they are zebra ones and mine is the bluish green version. It looks identical to the sun valley blue one on schecters website.
    I am using a mustang GT 100 fender amp, but I just don't feel like my sustain is there on mine. Your guitar sounds so much better overall and mine is supposed to be the exact same model. Something is not right. Either I was mistakenly sold the wrong model at guitar center or perhaps the stock strings suck. Could it be it's just the battery? I have the battery it came with new. Did you have to lower the strings on yours? I wish mine had the tone, clarity, and sustain like in all the TH-cam videos, but it doesn't.
    It just seems like something isn't right and it can't just be in my head. I don't see anything visibly wrong with the guitar. It does not have the clarity I was expecting or enough sustain. I prefer Iron Maiden sound or Satriani or Vai.

    • @ericjauregui3089
      @ericjauregui3089 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It IS a Sun Valley body shape, modeled after the SS of the 80's, and yes it is also a Diamond Series. "Diamond Series", is what Schecter calls all of their guitars because they are all made overseas (aside from their U.S.A. Custom Shop), Including the Sun Valley FR SS, you bought.

    Henning,
    As someone who’s profession is to create and implement manufacturing processes, from highly automated and/or mechanized, to mostly handmade, and everything in between, I can tell you why that plastic covers all of those parts.
    My job is as concerned with efficiency and quality as it is with the anticipation of, and prevention of, points of failure or loss. That plastic is not in place for shipping, it is there as we say, “FMP,” only... for manufacturing proposes only.
    This is a concern about customer experience, absolutely. Imagine if that guitar arrives with scratches, or fingerprints, all over your pickups or that beautiful pick guard. Or worse, remnants of an employee’s lunch... after it was eaten... gross, yes. And this happened at a competitor of my former employer.
    We would prefer it not be there ad well, but it is by a wide measure the lesser of two evils.

    • @Metalbass10000
      @Metalbass10000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Henning,
      I'm really glad you got something out of my comment, and to be honest I was quite surprised that you even would have noticed it. I have enjoyed watching, and occasionally commenting on, your content for about two years now.
      You have shed light on topics about which I was curious, and introduced me to products I didn't even know existed. You have discussed not only gear and its use, but all topics, with a thoughtfulness, a level of respect or even reverence where warranted, a willingness to speak truth to those are in need of hearing a healthy dose of it, and a desire to shed light on issues of economic, political, legal, and social importance, knowing that it may alienate a segment of your potential audience, though it may also make a few of them uncomfortable enough to stop and think, if only for a moment.
      You have also brought a few laughs out of me on some very difficult days and nights in the last 20 months. I thought that if I could pay that back in some small measure, and use some knowledge from my perspective, that it was the least I could do.
      Keep doing what you do (that IS what she said!). Keep giving a Metalist's perspective on things that is not often enough portrayed and communicated, even on TH-cam. Say hi to Kiana, who's sexier for who she is as a person than what she looks like (and she's a little hottie).
      Thank you.
      Sorry, no animals at the end...

It also clearly shreds and mixing the two volumes in the middle position gets you some killer tones! Of course I bought it! For under $600 US...are you kidding me?!?! Was actually considering the Ibanez you're in love with from Guitcon as I've been in bed is a shred machine...ok...that may be a better deal with the nice gig bag and 5 position switching...ok...I might change my mind if I ever get my haves on one...but man...really happy with this and love that color! I had a bit of high hopes on this Schecter model since im looking at Charvel but Fender decided it was a nice idea to bump sky high their price sky high in the past 8-12 months...
    Not really convinced on what im seeing... and the 999 euros price at Thomann is really a WTF...

    I've sent 2 of these guitars back, poor design with major flaws in the trem system..way too much tension..strings pull out of the saddle, then right post broke through the body...this was after releasing the claw tension..nope. Shame, they look good, just can't use the Floyd...He is having the same problems..I'm sorry, I was LMAO! Back to the drawing board on these guitars. I have some great Schecter guitars..not these.

    Schecter is a guitar builder with Floyd Rose trems on his guitars and cannot even get his guitars in tune before they ship it?
    "We quality check it" Hahaha! Good one !
    I love Henning taking his coffee saying about the tune "We're closed" HAHAHA! even better one! Closed as about...who knows.
    Love the look and the warm tone and really wanted one just before i saw that. Now,i'll go and see somewhere else.

    The Floyd Rose Special is garbage. Remove the stainless steel screws and put them on a Real Floyd Rose. Tuners were ok, but i replaced them with chrome. Great guitar once dialed in. You'll need a 32mm FR brass block.

    lmao Henning trying to blame the guitar when he can,t bend and vibrato a tone bend. Just practice your bends with vibrato henning. If it was a two tone bend i could understand you having a problem . Try wide and slow, your vibrato needs variation and some work. In the uk we have a saying, a bad workman always blames his tools!

    • @DerEchteBold
      @DerEchteBold 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, at times I also feel like his vibrato could use a bit of 'polishing' ; )
      But seriously, sometimes there can be fretboards where it's actually harder to get a smooth finger vibrato than on others, I guess it's when the wood surface is quite dull.
      I don't think you're supposed to oil maple fretboards so it seems in this case it only can be solved with sweating onto it from your hands ; )

    • @fivedoors4631
      @fivedoors4631 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea but Henning wasn't on about his vibrato , be claimed it was the fret board actually preventing him from going up to pitch, which is rubbish the only thing that could do that would be a high fret up the neck, usually the adjacent fret being high and the note would instantly stop as if muted. What he claimed is not possible and a weak excuse for bad technique, unless he is suggesting there is an invisible barrier , wall or step in the fret that can't be seen. I have had guitars that are harder to bend due to the frets being completely worn on very old guitars , but even guitars with old necks that have clear valleys , troughs and wear have never been a problem to bend if the frets are good. I own a few guitars including a schecter and it is an excellent guitar better built than guitars i have that were three times the price. I'd like to see him perform a tone and a half bend with a nice wide vibrato , just to prove me wrong. ;)

    • @DerEchteBold
      @DerEchteBold 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course it's possible, nothing to do with the frets, he actually clarifies that.
      It's the actual wood of the board that your finger kinda get's 'stuck' on, because it can't glide over it easily for some reason, on some guitars it's velvety smooth on others it's like dry rubber, don't know why that is, it isn't even necessarily connected to the price of a guitar it seems.
      His vibrato is often wonky but I guess that, and the frets, have nothing to do with what he meant there.

    • @Mabufu381
      @Mabufu381 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      honestly, ive experienced this a lot, where the wood of the fretboard is like bending on sandpaper and its just disgusting to bend on, i had a cheap guitar i actually scrapped the other day for that reason, the neck was so bad among other things it wasnt worth the cost or effort to repair it, it would have cost more than the guitar itself. Ive also had this on a high end ibanez i tried in store, the guy looked at me like i was retarded when i told him it was the worst thing id ever played, it was like grinding strings on low grit sandpaper. Ive not been paying much attention to hennings bending while he plays, but i know hes a pretty damn decent player, id be surprised if he couldnt bend well xD

    • @JimijaymesProductions
      @JimijaymesProductions 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      cheap dry rosewood boards have had this effect for me, its not impossible to bend or do vibrato but not as smooth or easy to do in a quick phrase.
