My mother passed away recently. I was her primary caregiver. Everything was a mess, but laughing with her was more important (joy). Now, at 57, I feel free to really tidy up. Choosing what to keep, then discarding the rest is so FUN (joy)! When I was a young mother, we had a small apartment and not much stuff, thankfully. Enjoying my young family was very important to me (joy)! They grow so fast! I’m happy to hear that Marie is enjoying her family and living in joy! That’s the biggest thing I took from her books. I suppose most people (especially in the USA where I live) only see the tidying part and miss the point. Thank you for this video! ❤
I am so sorry to hear your mother has passed away recently but I am grateful for your share. I can feel the love and joy you shared about your family. It's so true that many people miss the point. I also didn't understand it until I embraced the method and shifted my focus to "what is joy for me?" from "this is what I want to look like." Thank you for this comment. 💕
Understandable one cannot live an extreme organized / tidy life with children. One woman gave away most of her children's toys which I think is selfish and aggressive, her children will resent it when they are adults, they will love mom but resent her giving away most of their toys.
A big part of tidying journey is learning to embrace each person’s joy without interfering. You’re right, it’s definitely selfish and aggressive to give away other people’s item. No one would like to have their things thrown out by others.
Have you been seeing these articles about Marie Kondo giving up on tidying? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
