  • In this video Phil dale from Skarnsundet Fjordcenter takes you to a mark called "Ian's Plaice". A fantastic mark for catching big plaice at Skarnsundet in Norway but plenty of other fish like cod haddock and halibut as well.

What a beutiful plaice ,that's what looking after your fish stocks does for you ,and not letting every body else plunder them like we Brits do.

Hi I was thinking of going to Norway on a fishing holiday. Could you give us a brake down on the cosy for a two week fishing trip, flight cost, car rental, accommodation, charter boat per day + rod and reel rental etc. There will be group of 4. What area of Norway would you recommend for cod, halibut fishing. Uk based

I would say you are looking at around 100-300GBP for a flight per person depending on circumstances, a lot of fishing bases charge something like 2000-3000GBP per week (which sounds a lot, but you get a house for a week that can accommodate a lot of people and usually includes a boat which by itself is 60-100 gbp a day). Car rental for a week is something around 200-400 GBP depending on how you play it.
Groceries in Norway are expensive but very high quality. I would budget at least 20GBP per person per day for groceries.
Cod fishing in Skarnsundet is nice, but I probably wouldn't pick it as a prime Halibut spot. You will be more lucky more up north, and not as far into a fjord but more closely to open oceans.
