That's because Malus and Tzarkan possessed Malus have separate Kill counts, as they are considered two different entities by the game

@@MisterBullyHunter That's not quite right. Malus had 298 kills when he transformed to Tz'arkan and reset the counter. Then Tz'arkan finished the match with 264 kills (it didn't register the final Steam Tank). 298+264 = 562 which matches the victory screen total. The rest of the Empire casualties must have been made up of friendly fire.
a friend of mine played with malus just like this person that sent this campaign in, and believe me if i say: you are happy for every bit of friendly fire.
if the enemy has no artillery or not even ranged units, it will take 30 minutes to win each battle since one person can only do so much. which just makes you not want to fight battles with him, even though its one of the strongest armies ingame

God this is one of those builds that you want to try but don't have the patience to get.
Also takes a good amount of rng to get. Eventually most things are possible but to get it all within a reasonable amount of time takes some luck

Yeah, my dark elf campaign always ends with unsaveble sea battle bug when AI attacks me with my black ark as reinforce. I cant auto resolve to win it and I cant manual to win because I cant control any of my army below the water.
Start as Darkblade, get 10 provinces, run to Ulthuan, get Sword, that's it. Like 60-70 turns.

It should be obvious since the appearance of these so called Doomstacks, that this game has nothing to do with actual strategy. Three Kingdoms continued this trend with superhuman hero generals that can wipe out whole armies on their own.

i tried to kill him once to "respawn" him near nagaroth.. he killed a couple armies till the elfs send 4 armies and tyrion just for him allone^^
Their mistake was they thought they had to kill an elf, and Malus Darklblade was both so much more and so much less than a mere elf.

You've trained for several years, and have been fitted with some of the best armor and weapons available in the empire. On your left and your right, you have friends with whom you share a bond forged through blood and the fire of several successful battles against traitors to the throne, but also abominations like the forces of chaos and beastmen. You're accompanying a large army which include several hundre of soldiers like you, knights that ride creatures that could come from a fairy tale, and powerful and rare machines like the luminarch of Hyish and the Steam tank. Nobody can stand in front of you.
Then this... humanoid attack. He looks like one of the elves you sometimes hear about, but instead of the usual pride inherent to his kin is replaced by a mix of spite for all living things, bloodlust, and a bottomless hatred.
Your most powerful artillery shoot him, and the few projectiles he doesn't dodge only barely slow him down when they would otherwise kill a giant. Cavalry charges him, but he cuts each heavily armoured soldier and his mount in a single strike, as if they were fleas.
Then come your turn. You charge him with all your allies for the glory of the Empire. Even as you strike him, your blows are either blocked by his supernatural skills or weakened so much thery could be compared to petting an animal.
As your partners keep dying, you hear your general panicking in the back. Artillery and archers keep shooting at him, killing as many if not more of your friends than he does.
But still, he gets weaker. He starts bleeding, his moves become more sluggish, victory is getting closer. And then... He transforms, and start talking in this otherworldy voice, fully regenerated and as fresh as one can be. The next thing you know, a supernatural blood storm kills all your friends around you while apparently strengthening him. You hear your generals panic again and call for full retreat, utterly terrified and unable to do so much more than inconvenience this monster. Only steam tanks are remaining behind to attack him, maybe because their driver are so unconscious, carried away by their own power, or maybe seized by a grim determination as they make a last stand to allow as many of their allies to escape.
I mean, how terrifying it would be?
The greatswordsman would also be subject to sudden, uncontrollable bouts of rage during which he would just run in the direction of the Dark Elf just as soon as he saw a faint silthouette of a curved sword flickering in the air above his army.

As the thunderous roar of artillery died down and thick smoke started to rise high and evaporate, the full horror of the battlefield below became apparent.
Malus Darkblade stood at the centre of the carnage, covered in blood, guts and gore of his foes, his blazing hatred ripping them apart and not allowing him to slow down, not allowing him lose, not allowing him to ever die.
Malus with Isabella and Vlad's traits and SoK: almost immortal edgelord
You don't even need Vlad's since Malus just through his skill tree has such heavy bonuses to wound recovery and personal casualty replenishment. It's already hard for him to get wounded at all, he'll heal everything over an end turn and right off the bat if he's somehow wounded it's not going to keep him down for long at all.

not going to lie this is probably my favorite video yet this was pretty fucking awesome to see just one man wrecking two armies
I would have had him on the mount since as you could see from that battle killing key enemies is a lot more important than avoiding a bit of dmg. Against melee heavy armies sure but with unbreakable ranged units and ranged units with high dmg per shot you really need to get at them. The mount makes him not ragdoll and gives him some speed.
I was going to say the same thing, I always have him on his mount. I never once felt he was weaker, only stronger.
I mean if it hadn't taken legend 10mins to remember he could bloodlust the ranged stuff he probably would've dealt with the luminarks a hell of a lot sooner

Did a campaign like that with Kholek in Grimhammer where the regeneration cap is like 10x his maximum health
No one stood a goddamn chance!
He will be a bit less resistant to fire, but with his stats it shouldn't be a problem afaik
If you look at it carefully, Malus is actually much weaker in SFO because:
1) The resistance cap in SFO is 75% compared to 90% in vanilla
2) SFO severely nerfed the resistance of items, for ex, SOK only gives you around 20% ward save at max level or talisman of preservation only giving 12%
3) the regen cap doesn't actually hinder you that much in vanilla anyways. There are ways for him to pick enemies apart one at a time. If you're on the attack, just use lightning strike and you're fighting at most 2 armies (sieges). If you're on the defense, assuming Malus doesn't have any other units with him, the AI would get cocky and only attack you with one army at a time.
You don't need Isabella as Malus like other melee lords, Dark Elves have access to a rare armor that provides regeneration and you can give him a healing potion or satchel of potions, as they refill when you activate the demon.
@Deathsdayoff person At least read my comment dude. I detailed exactly why the low regen ceiling in vanilla doesn't actually hinder Malus that much, i.e. because he can basically 1v1 any AI armies, therefore refreshing his regen cap after every battle.
The lower resistance cap hurts him far more than anything. He's now at least taking 2.5 times the amount of damage that he'd be taking in vanilla.
Not to mention if you looked a bit deeper into SFO, you'd see that both HP and damage values are higher, and much higher in some cases compared to vanilla. In contrast, regen value is still at 4hp/sec. Meaning that regen is effectively less efficient.
TLDR; The only situation where Malus is stronger in SFO compared to vanilla is if you're fighting 3-4 low-mid tier armies at once (which shouldnt happen once you have lightning strike). Otherwise, he'd take far more damage than he can regen.
@Deathsdayoff person To repeat the same point a third time, the regen cap doesn't actually matter in a realistic scenario. That's because Malus can 1v1 pretty much ANY AI army in vanilla.
This is not even mentioning the fact that regen becomes less efficient due to the increase in HP and damage in SFO. Think about it, an increase of 30% in both HP and WS will make a regen rate of 8 hp/sec in vanilla effectively become 8 X 100%/130% = 6.15 hp/sec.
If you had actually played a campaign against late game AI armies, you'd know that at 75% ward save, even with double regen might not out-heal the damage you're taking. Especially if you're being attacked by single entities or gun units. I tried the exact same Malus build in SFO and lo and behold, I actually lost to some AI armies that I would 100% win against in vanilla.

god.. amazing. this will make me start a dark elves campaign.
So fun story, I had a stegadon doomstack (well half there were 9 of them if I remember correctly, with a skink chief on one as well) with another garrison army up against Malus, his army and supported by his BFF Black Ark.
No trouble against his army and with just him left I smiled.................the smile promptly disappeared as I watched him single handedly take down my remaining forces and doomstack.
I nearly rage quit, considered sending the battle in to our boy legendoftotalwar, and then attempted to win it 3 more times before succeeding.
Would 11/10 not talk trash to Malus in a pub backed up by all my mates.

Fun fact - any lord in the game can be geared up to solo armies through a combination of the SoK, specific lord defeat traits, and a couple items. There is an article on Stream about how to do it that contains screenshots of lords such as Mazdamundi soloing four stacks at once.

I think you can do this as Archeon or Kholek too since they both have some innate wardsave (Archeon's Legendary Equipment also provides a lot), make sure to snipe some good LL defeat traits such as Isabella. And as Chaos you can actually pick up the Sword of Khaine! x)
This is absolutely epic that you’re skilled enough to do this, but this video epitomizes the problems in modern total war

It had begun to power the lazer while Malus was still charging just outside minimum range, I'll need to watch out for that later.
To be honest a lot of legendary lords can become 1 man killing machines with the Sword of Khaine. Any hero that can reach 90% ward save can become a 1 man killing machine, than it's entirely up to having enough defense and armor to really face overwhelming odds and enough damage to actually mow all the enemies down rather than only rely on Sword of Khaine vortexes. Also most legendary lords have actually useful mounts that don't make them a liability when used as a 1 man army which can make them even stronger, though being knocked down like a sissy does have its advantages too. But yeah Malus Darkblade is 1 of the better heroes to use with the Sword of Khaine thanks to his personal combat prowess and of course Tz'arkan but there are still plenty of other worthwhile contesters like Tyrion, Kroq'gar, Kolek Suneater, Sigvald, etc and of course the powerful battle mages like Malekith, Archaeon, Luther Harkon, etc who also bring magic to the table alongside personal combat prowess. I mean sure if you're not playing a High/Dark Elf faction yourself you're relying on the AI picking up the sword of Khaine first than taking it from whoever picked it up, but it's still very doable. Speaking of the High Elves and Tyrion, they're a much better faction to get the sword of Khaine with on legendary thanks to all their other public order bonuses. Still not optimal obviously, especially with Tyrion going the dark side so to speak for the personal combat stuff sacrificing the light side with the powerful faction bonuses instead, but still perhaps the most viable usage of the Sword of Khaine. Well after the lords of Chaos that is as they don't care about public order at all and all 3 are terrific with the Sword of Khaine, Sigvald being the worst due to lack of a mount but as Malus shows even without a mount you can wreck face with the sword of Khaine on a properly equipped lord.

I don't actually know anything about TW Warhammer (only interested in historical titles), but still I've enjoyed watching this dark elf dude scream "Consume" and get footballed around by knights and Zeus-guns.

I'm not exactly sure how ward save works, but missile resist specifically, I believe can be overcome with AP missile damage. I once had a 100% missile resist Paladin of Bretonnia [SFO], flew it up to Belegar's Thunderers to waste his ammo.... And just got yanked out of the air like it was nothing.
It was at this moment that they knew they were fucked up
Despite how powerful Malus may indeed be, with such grindy battles I reckon the player would quit the campaign before Malus did.
