I'm still watching but wanted to jump in the comments bc I was doing well following along 0:00-8:00 where you wanted us to go in Admin/Property and scroll to Google Search Console. I didn't see it on mine and didn't understand why since your video is newer. After about 5 google searches I figured out I was in a Google Analytics 4 account and not Universal and followed the steps to add a property/advanced options/add website again/pick Universal to get UA and add that config line to my Shopify head area where GA-4 already existed. I know you can't backtrack in your video but I hope someone sees this and Note they need to make sure that are creating a GA Universal account.

Nope! The only time you will need to verify the domain again is if you change the domain name itself. For just redesigning the website, you'll be fine!
That's Google for you :) They are constantly changing their interfaces. You should have almost everything covered here, it just may have moved to a new spot. Google always does that! I'll be updating this tutorial soon to show the new look. Google loves to move things around 🙃 It's under Settings > Crawl Settings Once you are logged into your Google account, you can also use this URL: search.google.com/search-console/settings/crawl-stats
Usually, this is done as part of SEO work. As long as you can demonstrate the value here and the clear outcome, it's certainly something you could try. I'd be interested to hear how you set this up and how it goes! Come back and let me know.

I got question to 'links' tab. got quite huge webite but in links there are just 8 rows of external links in total. Is GSC shows all linking to my page or just several?
External links refer to links that point to other third-party websites. In the Links report, you can see the top linking domains which refers to the sites that link back to your website. Hope this helps!

In your TH-cam video geo-targeting wasn't explained. Let's say you have an e-commerce website and you are trying to gain customers in multiple locations, then geo-targeting (by my understanding from reading the documentation), will limit you to a certain area, which would be great for a brick and mortar shop. But for an e-commerce store trying to target multiple locations, Google documentation suggests for you to select unlisted. My question is which is better and how do I target multiple locations using the Google Search Console?
You're right, it's not very helpful if you are targeting more than one country. In this case you can set the country as unlisted so Google won't focus on showing the website to searchers in that one country. If you are targeting specific countries, want to have pages in other languages, etc. you can do more on your site to help rank in those areas. This will help give you more of an idea: moz.com/learn/seo/international-seo
Also wanted to mention, if you decide to build out country specific sections of your website using a sub-domain or sub-directory, you can target these sections separately in GSC.
I tried the URL prefix method of uploading the html file to cpanel and that didn't work, so then I tried the method of the html tag but I don't know where to upload it.
Hi Kathryn, you'll need to upload to the root folder of your site. If you have access to the site's cPanel, you can go to the file manager there and upload it where your website files are stored.

It wouldn’t let me do international targeting for mine it said tools etc unavailable for domain properties which is a pain as I keep getting traffic from USA when I’m in the UK

This is a pretty new tutorial. Google (and many other softwares) change the interface regularly even if features are still there. Which feature are you looking for?
Not at all your fault, but it is amazing how much of this information is obsolete just 7 months after making this vid. GA4 borked the first ten minutes of this intro pretty much.
You keep using Cpanel for file uploads, but many hosting companies, mores the pity, no longer use Cpanel. For the past 20 years or so I have always used a ftp client, especially Filezilla. Free, powerful, and fast.

Looks like the Position filter is > Than 4.9, but stated Less Than. Was that intentional? (I am used to old webmaster tools )

Higher numbers usually mean "lower" rankings. 1 is the highest ranking you can get.

When the requested indexing button will back in console any idea ?
You can now use it. Enter a URL in the inspection box and on the next page you can request indexing if the page is not indexed.

Does your site have a redirect in place? If not, you may have malware on your site and you'll definitely need to get that looked at.

Which method did you use to verify the property? You may want to try selecting a different option from the list.

If you use Google Domains as your registrar, your domain will be automatically verified for search console. no need for DNS records entry. :)

Are you referring to the performance section? In there you can click the boxes at the top to add to the chart what you would like to see.
