However, as a non-religious spiritual man, I both agree with and believe this statement to be both accurate and factually true. On the issue of slavery, again, humans throughout history have enslaved other humans. Typically, this amounts to the more robust culture or society, subjugating the weaker of one or more differing societies. The New York City draft riots (July 13-16, 1863), sometimes referred to as the Manhattan draft riots and known at the time as Draft Week,[3] were violent disturbances in Lower Manhattan, widely regarded as the culmination of white working-class discontent with new laws passed by Congress that year to draft men to fight in the ongoing American Civil War. The riots remain the largest civil and most racially charged urban disturbance in American history.[4] According to Toby Joyce, the riot represented a "civil war" within the city's Irish community, in that "mostly Irish American rioters confronted police, [while] soldiers, and pro-war politicians ... were also to a considerable extent from the local Irish immigrant community."[5] Initially intended to express anger at the draft, the protests turned into a race riot, with white rioters attacking black people, in violence throughout the city. The official death toll was listed at either 119 or 120 individuals. Conditions in the city were such that Major General John E. Wool, commander of the Department of the East, said on July 16 that "Martial law ought to be proclaimed, but I have not a sufficient force to enforce it."[11] The military did not reach the city until the second day of rioting, by which time the mobs had ransacked or destroyed numerous public buildings, two Protestant churches, the homes of various abolitionists or sympathizers, many black homes, and the Colored Orphan Asylum at 44th Street and Fifth Avenue, which was burned to the ground.[12] The area's demographics changed as a result of the riot. Many black residents left Manhattan permanently with many moving to Brooklyn. By 1865, the black population had fallen below 11,000 for the first time since 1820.[12]

Not true if you were already in the military in the north when the fighting broke out you were ordered to go so you had no say and you had to fight family members and brothers in many cases so you can't just pick and choose the parts of the war you want to highlight you got to look at the whole thing I know the truth hurts but it will set you free Lonnie ray
They will NEVER be happy, so why even bother?
Should we blame and charge ANYONE for a crime that their great great great great grandparents did?
Anything for a handout, and for the government it’s anything for a vote. This will backfire in epic fashion.
Not a hand out more like paying a debt, it's a miracle blacks are not extinct, everything they have gone through, Justice 4 the 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
@@lancelesley4153 No one owes blacks anything.
my grandparents came to the US from europe around 1910 and the women were "slaves" cleaning homes for 12+hrs a day on their hands and knee's for penny's a day.
after "the" boss subtracted money for a bowl of soup and then bus fare home..near ZERO. and some of the women had to stay "after work" to do what the man of the house said and
if not. they were fired on the spot and sent home-taking all the money they should of been paid for the week.
"other" slave labor well know, documented-factual of european (irish, polish) immigrants in our nation and society for decades.
does they "above" matter in our society or nation. of course not, does not sell click bait or media time.
here is my reparations:
a signed copy of an obama book and 2 or 3 scratch-offs from the state of their choice.
I'm Irish. Can I get my reparations for discrimination in the 1800s?
No.
The riots remain the largest civil and most racially charged urban disturbance in American history.[4] According to Toby Joyce, the riot represented a "civil war" within the city's Irish community, in that "mostly Irish American rioters confronted police, [while] soldiers, and pro-war politicians ... were also to a considerable extent from the local Irish immigrant community."[5]
Initially intended to express anger at the draft, the protests turned into a race riot, with white rioters attacking black people, in violence throughout the city. The official death toll was listed at either 119 or 120 individuals. Conditions in the city were such that Major General John E. Wool, commander of the Department of the East, said on July 16 that "Martial law ought to be proclaimed, but I have not a sufficient force to enforce it."[11]
The military did not reach the city until the second day of rioting, by which time the mobs had ransacked or destroyed numerous public buildings, two Protestant churches, the homes of various abolitionists or sympathizers, many black homes, and the Colored Orphan Asylum at 44th Street and Fifth Avenue, which was burned to the ground.[12] The area's demographics changed as a result of the riot. Many black residents left Manhattan permanently with many moving to Brooklyn. By 1865, the black population had fallen below 11,000 for the first time since 1820.[12]
@@audreymaize The Irish rioted and attacked/burned down communities several times before the emaciation proclamation. Lol they owe black Americans as well

Future generations not even born yet will be entitled by birthright to reparations also..did Newsom think of that ?
i mean he already shot down monetary payments...so maybe
Less than 4 percent of adult americans have a net worth on more than a million dollars, but we somehow feel that EVERY African American should get a 1.3 million dollar handout? What a joke.
I;d rather be homeless then pay taxes at this point.
Just move to another state
Using the lineage system, there will be a whole lot of white presenting people who should be eligible for this. I wonder how that will go down.
