@@senseiaces even then, it doesn't take 170 iq to figure out TMV can say they played a tourney poorly but are still making smart decisions outside of the server. They're not mutually exclusive.

It is a good move for sentinels, especially this season. The team needs more time together to figure out roles and chemistry. Sentinels' floor is pretty good but they haven't even touched their ceiling yet.
TMV forgetting about investment on other esports. For example 100T just spent massively on their COD roster, C9 recently took over a COD league spot, NRG are in 6 other esports. Investment isn't super easy for teams like this compared to someone like 2G who is full invested in Val essentially
Definitely agree. Also he is forgetting that NA and EU salaries are much higher than the other regions. SEN has probably made more money from valorant than all of the other NA teams.
I think it's because in APAC and SA, the salary is way lower than in NA so it's more financially viable for these orgs to make academy teams. Also that's why only Paper Rex among other partnered teams who don't have an academy team because they're relatively way smaller than the rest of Pacific orgs. Being based in Singapore also makes it even harder because of higher salary rate compared to other nation in SEA/APAC.
One reason I can think of for why some teams may not want to field an academy team is if they plan to leave the VCT partnership program in the following cycle? Maybe starting an academy team complicates the exit?
@@Chill-42 Riot pays you to be in the league. This is just silly as if your responsible and dont overpay your players youll make a good profit. Thats why everyone wants to be in the partnership
You say its a bad thing that if they win Tier 2 they won't promote to Tier 1, but Valorant has proven that its not about the Orgs, the players leave teams left right and center, there is even Orgless teams in Tier 2. So ya, the players can simply be picked up to play Tier 1 and the orgs can "train" new players in Tier 2. Its a MASSIVE W
Really good video and I support your opinion on having academy teams. Although it is not uncommon in higher tier scrims that teams are for example only exec on a for the whole attack half. It's also possible to just find scrim teams and agree on playing only one side of the map. The downside obviously is that those teams are getting pretty familiar with your style of executes or defenses which could make up problems in league. For this a fixed scrim partner which is 100% not playing against you in a competitive environment is just better. Also the best practice an academy team can get is by playing tier 1 teams so it's just win win
isn't the ping difference literally directly correlated to how cheap it might be to hire players? If you're based in a 1st world region, you would have good ping but maybe pay more for an academy team If you're based in a poorer region, you might want to be headquartered elsewhere (bad ping) but it would be much cheaper to afford an academy team at home
I think apac won't have any issues since they should have ping of roughly 15-55 if they picked HK server as a place for them to pract with. Besides probably GE since they're roughly almost twice as far from seoul than any other region including CN
EG's 10 man roster was an experiment done in multiple games and it only really worked in valorant, and it was only possible because they were bought out a couple years prior. It was so terrible in other esports, especially in cs, that they became what they are today, basically bankrupt and had to let go of almost their entire roster even after winning champions. I honestly think it was more of a fluke, it definetly might have helped but I doubt it is as game changing as TMV is making it out to be.
No it's genuinely a very good idea since you get non-stop quality scrims. Valorant is a game where vod reviewing matters a LOT, and if you have a consistent quality team you can do that with it makes a huge difference
To be honest I agree with TMV that the EG 10 man allows them to have better practice since they can do specific stuff that you can't get from scrim with other team. That being said esport team is burning money so I'm not sure about academy team. Maybe it's cheaper so it's manageable but we will see if there will be more EG chaos because they ran out of money
As far as we know, the EG project in CS was pretty different from what they did in Val. In CS they talked about having a lot of fluidity between the three rosters, getting them all to tournaments and sending the best performing players to the biggest events. In Val the EG reserve roster was very much subordinate to the main roster, playing the roles of scout team and drill opponent TMV talks about. We don't know if the CS teams did that, and if they did, it almost certainly wasn't the best use of time for *someone*, because you can't optimize practice for two teams (take his example of the Bind B exec defense and say the academy also wants to get better at attacking A. tough luck, the practice isn't about that). Also, the Val reserves didn't have their own tournaments to be concerned about, their focus was 100% on helping the main team (this is actually something that can be tough to replicate now that academies are on tier2). TLDR: If the best coach in Valorant history and the entire field of coaching literature says the unique training practices of EG Val helped them get the most unexpected results in the history of the game, maybe believe them.
idk man every other Val team complains about scrims where nobody is trying but everyone is leaking strats, so the difference might be bigger bc of that
Your reasoning at the start as to why Pacific and South America have the academy teams while EMEA and Americas don't is so wrong lmfao. The reason is obviously because of salary. Running a T2 team in SEA or LATAM is dirt fucking cheap compared to in NA or EU. Salary for those players is literally 10x less than players from NA or EU expect. NA is by far the most expensive. There's a clear reason why the most clouted/famous org in NA is the only one with an academy team
