What’s the reason for the oversized hole on the inside cover plate? Or any hole, really. The latch could still be operated with a solid cover plate there. Is it just to be able to remove the latch without having to remove the plate? Or am I missing something?

I like that you also have the option of making the outer facing hole a slot instead and you can set this up to work with a knob too (and with the right shaped knob base, you can even hide the slot from view) 🤔
