Back in highschool I complained so much to my therapist about the visceral effect that oily hair/oily face had on me that she gave me a mini dry shampoo and blotting pads as a present before I went off to college and I have to say that it was the most thoughtful gift I have ever received to this day

When I first heard Love It If We Made It, I was a naïve girl in catholic school who simply absorbed the conservative ideals around me. Hearing the song, and hearing Matty's lyric breakdown on Genius, brought me to tears and caused a permanent shift in my beliefs. I couldn't believe I had been so ignorant to so much in the world, and this song was the first thing to ever "pop" that bubble I had been living in. Art is such a gift because of what it teaches us, and creating art and expressing ourselves is one of the first steps to actual change. Thank you Brittany for always sharing the art that you're interested in; even the smallest things can have a great impact.

A lot of what you're describing reminds me of my PCOS diagnosis. For some reason getting diagnosed wasn't scary for me at all because all of the symptoms I was having just seemed "normal" to me so finding out there was a name for it didn't really change much. And now that I know I have it, I've been able to manage my symptoms much better and am feeling significantly better! For anyone worried about it affecting your fertility, my ob/gyn told me that she has it and she got pregnant even while on birth control (Which was horrifying for someone who gets a lot of anxiety from the idea of getting pregnant, haha)

I am by no means a dr. But I do study medical science and also last year got diagnosed with PCOS. I had scarily long gaps between periods too and that was my main concern cause it was sending me into a coma worrying every month about whether I was just late on my period or whether I was pregnant. When I went to the dr they did a blood test for me as well and found Vitamin D deficiency too! Other symptoms of PCOS include but aren't limited to hirsutism, weight gain, insulin resistance, alopecia and skin issues as well as mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. In the country where I live only 2/3 criteria is required for a diagnosis of PCOS but for you, you may need an ultrasound to confirm. Regardless, the main "treatment" is weight loss. Which is obviously harder when you have PCOS. Common medications are weight loss drugs and diabetes management drugs. What I have found helps the most is a better diet and regular exercise. Obviously I could be totally wrong about what you are going through but I hope this helps! ❤

Hearing someone else voice so many of the same thoughts I'm having about it is so validating and helpful. I feel like right now we're all in this bizarre purgatory of knowing and acknowledging how insane everything is while simultaneously having to turn a blind eye and temporarily delude ourselves to be able to exist in our daily lives without going completely insane. But the duality of it is dizzying. I'm so thankful to know I'm not alone in how I feel 💜 love Broski nation

It’s so wild to me to see someone dissecting British culture as much as Brittany does. As an English woman who spends a lot of time watching Brittany and definitely has a parasocial relationship, it’s nice to see someone love the UK so much, or at least show so much positive interest. Talking about your period is so helpful and important. My biggest fear is getting pregnant and I have no knowledge about periods because they're so taboo. I never considered the fact that nutrient deficiency can mess with your period and hormones. That information saves me soooo much stress because my tubes are removed and I cannot get pregnant but I still get worried when my period is late. We need more people openly talking about these things.

I’ve been in almost the same spot with my period. I cannot diagnose anyone. I am just a PCOS girly. Low vitamin D is actually a common marker for PCOS. With not having a period for 6 months I would really push to get an external and internal ultrasound to check for PCOS. Getting the diagnosis is scary and overwhelming but when they look inside they’ll measure your uterine lining and make sure it’s at a healthy thickness. This is important bc when you don’t get a period regularly and shed your lining it can build up and down the line, cause issues including uterine cancer. That’s why PCOS has a higher risk for that and not ovarian cancer because having polycystic ovaries doesn’t seem to lead to cancer of the ovaries. I know this is a lot, but it’s so so important to now what’s up and treat it properly ❤ It may just be a wonky cycle, but knowledge is power in health (coming from someone with extreme white coat phobia lol)

Same here! I just left a separate comment heh
I’ve been on birth control, metformin & spironolactone, and it’s worked fairly well. Unfortunately I’ve got some stubborn hirsutism that the spironolactone never really tackled, but my periods are considerably better when medicated phew
I hope everyone here can find something that works well for them ❤

I got diagnosed about 5 years ago. Did a bunch of stuff, hated Metformin which made me have religious experiences in the bathroom😳 did birth control but it made me gain about 35 pounds, so stopped that. Now I’m on Spironolactone to suppress testosterone and on semiglutide compounded with b12 and I am finally have of a super regular period and losing the weight 🙌🏻

The sentiment starting at around 34:00.. being smart enough to understand but feeling helpless and having to remove yourself from it.. is SO real. Every other day we read about some other awful tragedy that's happening, groups of people being targeted, killed, discriminated against, etc. I can't think about it for too long, or it just makes me depressed. Look what humanity has done. It's so heartbreaking.

hey brittany !! i have pcos and experienced many of the same symptoms as you and was written off by two different doctors before i could finally get diagnosed. i've been in remission without meds for the past 6 months from lifestyle changes, vitamins, and eating a specific way but there are also meds that help too !! you deserve an answer and to feel better

I completely felt when you talked about the bombardment of data on the mind that is technology and social media. I’ve had a recent realization that I get anxious when not stimulated by music, podcasts, etc. and so I’m being intentional in sitting in silence and speaking to myself more. I think that’s a common experience for many people, especially young people today. Thanks for letting me know I’m not alone ❕❕💕

I’d suggest speaking with your gyno about the possibility of PCOS. I got diagnosed about a decade ago and it was a huge *oh, okay* moment and everything clicked heh
Hope you start feeling better soon ❤

I went to the grocery store while listening to this, and made sure to stock up on veggies and fruits for those extra nutrients. Winter ready has us losing the sense of needing anything but warmth and sleep
Also, Kingdom of Ash!! My heart got through all stages of grief again just hearing about it 😭❤️ love ya Brittany!

Brittany, firstly. LOVE YOU OUR FEARLESS LEADER❤ secondly, I’m a nurse from Perth, Western Aus, I’m 28 and have had gynae issues my whole life - pain, cramping, irregular periods, thinning hair, acne etc - got a pelvic ultrasound recently (referred by my doctor) and confirmed I have PCOS & adenomyosis . Would definitely recommend getting a pelvic ultrasound as well as more blood work, but the ultrasound is what will give you some definitive answers. All the best, sending your uterus and ovaries healthy vibes queen! Xx

ive been watching you since kombucha video and i have to say i absolutely love you. You are like the thoughts in my head that im too afraid to speak up 2 others ...thinking others would think im crazy or "weird". Life has become so judgmental and watching your podcasts are the best. Literally look forward to your videos, rewatching them all the time. You ARE the definition of girls' girl. You understand us, deeply and you're not afraid to speak about it or even laugh it off. We love you, through thick and thin!!
