What thickness is that material, what amps are you using and what size filler. Earlier I was welding 1/4" with 160 amps and a 3/32" filler. the first pass goes in easy, but to try and do the second pass the same way you did it. I was getting some under cut and I couldn't figure out how to prevent that. the best I could do was try and follow the puddle with the the filler rod but it just didn't work that good.
I believe that was 1/2inch plate if I remember correctly. I was using 3/32 wire 70s wire. To help with undercut, hold at the top for a second before you go back down. Also feed the wire at the top and drag it down, this should help too. If those two things don’t fix it then turn your heat down to about 130 and try it.
@@getweldsoon1113 ok cool. it was my first shot at welding thicker than 1/8". I'm kind of thinking about just trying to lay wire with a 1/8" rod and not even doing a second pass. but yeah I will try to turn it down and try.
@@getweldsoon1113 I think I'm good on that but yeah i think that trying to use a bigger filler for the first pass well make it harder to dig down into it. my real problem is that I'm just brand new to doing mulitpass welds. I got some learning to do and your video and comments are helpful, thanks.
@@getweldsoon1113 , I think you have seen me do it plenty of times. Or do ya have a short memory. If so… I guess I could go down to the tech school and see if they would let me use a welder for 5 minutes. Even after 4 years I think I could still do it 😬
Maybe hitting the vice handle with the hammer would hold it in place better? Great video man this Tig stuff is real fun once you start to get it
😂😂 thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Man that was awesome 👍👍
Thank you!!!
good video. post different thickness plate videos and recommended setting like 3/32 tungsten and filler on 1/8 plate?
I’m impressed😆

You’re welcome! I’ll help you any way I can .
Oh yeah… I can weld up that vice for you too 😂
The Vice can't take a HIT but I bet their sales will.
Hahaha!!!!
So when u go down do you do a zig zag while still close to the edge of the weld pool?
I just zig up and zig down. All the way up and all the way down. I hope I answered your questions correctly. Not 💯 sure if that’s what you are asking.
How hot ws the amps and what gas flow
I believe I was running about 130 amps.
Flow was about 20-25.
Thank you for the reply and info godbless
