Get Weld Soon
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 มี.ค. 2019
Hello and welcome! My name is Brian and I have decided to make welding video to help people understand and learn the art of welding. To tell you a little bit about myself, I’ve been a union Boilermaker for 16 years and also joined the union Pipe fitters a few years ago as a welder. We travel around the country and sometimes other countries to repair power plants, paper mills, oil refineries and more when they have shutdowns. That being said, I have the experience and knowledge to teach welding and help people learn it wether you are just want to weld as a hobby or if you wanna weld at a professional level. Either way I can get you there. I teach mig, tig, and stick welding in my videos. I hope you enjoy the content and learn a ton. Thanks for watching!!

Do you need an auto darkening welding helmet?
Hey bocod! One thing in my past experience that may be of interest to you is the way an automatic comes out of a puddle. It’s a medium to long taper, or down slope, that tails off quickly in order not to leave a fisheye or large deposit on the end. This may or may not be of interest for you. I always thought it looked more professional. Happy new year 😁
10-4 ole buddy. Yeah I should try to make that look a little better. I usually just bump it with a file and be done but I’ll work on that. Hope you are doing well friend.
@ , there’s nothing wrong with it! It looks good. I’m just saying there’s another way that looks like a machine did it.
answered my question! thank you. im welding some thin metal with 7018 but only thing I also was told is to run it DCEN (straight polarity) for even less penetration. is this correct?
Yessir, it with help you to not burn holes in it. 👍🏻
Thanks for the video it helped out a lot
Yessir, glad I could help you! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
Very simple & helpful. Thank you
You are very welcome! 👍🏻
I like that. Maybe little better way to explain stuff for the heavy pushers uphill is, angle dictates attachment or flow. Also with same size rod passes yes 50% but passes should usually be upsized and ran between half and 2/3 overlap and little hotter but never to hard edge until final to reduce undercutting.
The trick is to try your best not to get burned and the mastery comes from knowing that you will probably get burned anyway and to simply maintain your bead when your shirt catches fire. Quite tricky to get but after the first 20 or so burns it all feels the same. And honestly no matter what overhead is always a last resort NOBODY thinks that their overhead position is their best weld lol plus WEAR A HOOD OR HAT or you will go bald
😂😂👍🏻
Thanks man, I’m no welder but I was trying to tig a thin metal t joint on a thin steel post that doesn’t hold any weight really. Watched this and figured it out enough to get the job done! Might do some more of this for fun!
Awesome man. Thanks for the comment. Good to hear that I’m helping people. 👍🏻
Usually when some one says, it’s not the prettiest, I’m not the best, means they’re pretty darn good welders lol
lol!! Well, I have been doing it for a long time and take pride in my work but I don’t like to brag. 👍🏻
@@getweldsoon1113as a boilermaker, the golden hand are usually bad, guys like you are what keeps the trade/craft going
Do you just order a universal replacement for that?
Yes, it’s in the description
Straight to the point- i love it. Really helps me out. Liked and subscribed!
Great to hear! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
Great video and explained very well. Thank you.
You’re welcome. Thanks for the comment. 👍🏻
Perfect! First timer here. I fixed it, thanks to yours and Pat's guidance. Extra tip: Leave the old cable in while you run the replacement alongside its path within the chair's works, before you remove and get rid of the old one.
You’re welcome!
Mine just broke where can i buy this cable
The link to it is in the description. Just make sure you order the correct length.👍🏻
I keep getting a gap in the middle of the weld as if the puddle hasnt built up at all, theres a weld on each side and none in the middle, but im going slow. Cant seem to find the problem. It only happens at times sometimes its fine but im using the exact same motion everytime
Okay, so when you go across you have to push your rod into the corner as you are moving across, otherwise your rod wont burn into the metal you’re welding on. This will leave trapped slag between your weld and the steel if you don’t push your rod into the corner. Hope this helps. 👍🏻
100, brother, thank you very much for showing me how to do this. God bless
You’re wet welcome! Glad to help! God bless you as well! 👍🏻
We have 2 couches with recliners and 3 of the 4 recliners were broken. We were fighting over who was gonna get the recliner. Then I found your video and ordered the parts. I did not even tell my husband. He came home from work and they were all working, we honestly thought we were gonna have to buy a new couch. Thank you so much!!! oh and an opportunity to clean under the couch🤭
😂😂 you guys are very welcome! I love hearing comments like this! Thanks for sharing.! 👍🏻
Great video, just fixed mine!
Awesome!! 👏
Mine broke yesterday, thank you!
You’re welcome! 👍🏻
Thank you for your video. It's a big help.
You’re welcome! Thanks for your comment.
if you don’t mind me asking how do you go about recording your arc shots?
For my stick welding I use a cannon camera. You have to dim the picture until you get the best picture. For my mig and tig videos I just use my iPhone. It actually does very well for those types of welding.
@ think I can get away recording stick puddle with a lens over my iPhone camera?
You didn't say anything about if you can weld Aluminum..is there something special you would need?
This machine will not tig weld aluminum. You need a high frequency machine to do that but you can stick weld aluminum with it. I’ve never stick welded aluminum but I’ve talked to several people that have and they say it doesn’t run very good. Arccaptain does have a machine that will tig aluminum. I’ll give you a link to it so you can check it out if you want to. www.amazon.com/dp/B0DQ8QDF1D/?tag=get weld soon-20
@ I guess I wasted my money then..I thought I could..oh well maybe I'll use it for body work
This is brilliant just what i needed thanks brother
Yessir! Glad I could help you. 👍🏻
Thanks! boy did I appreciate the love seat repair video. Spot on and easy- peasy. Thanks!!
Yessir! I’m glad I could help you out, and thank you for the super thanks! It’s appreciated sir. 👍🏻
Cheers bro 👍🍺
Cheers 🍻
Yea that's true it's that timing
Thanks so much. This was helpful. My kids and I rewatched the first 17 sec several times. So funny! Good work.
Haha!! 😂 glad I could make you guys laugh! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
At Pullman Standard we built railroad cars on the main frame we'd lay down like 1" × 2" flat bar and it required 7018 rods 18"s long probably close to a 1/4" rod. Worst part of the job was to make sure your pants legs didn't leave exposed skin. That happened to me one time with flair legged pants very painful for a few days. Most of their welding machines were at least 600 amps stick welders. Have fun!
Thank you for posting! Gonna try to fix ours if I can find replacement part!
The parts I used are in the description. Thanks ! 👍🏻
Update- got the part (bought metal instead of plastic) re-watched your video AGAIN, and success! Thanks for saving me a call to Lazy Boy repairs!
Biggest mistake I've seen were people trying to drag the rod like using mild steel. Rather you should flow with the pool of molten metal you're laying down and being consistent with your moves. Drag rods are great at laying down a steady weld and the flux curls right up there is hardly any chipping of the weld involved but of course the strength of the weld isn't as strong as the 7018 low hydrogen rods.
What's your setting for root to cap?
About 90amps for the cap.
@getweldsoon1113 90?? Is that because it's super hot?
Thank you for these viseos, this was insanely helpful!
You’re welcome!!! Thank you for the comment. It means a lot. 👍🏻
Thanks. I need the help.
You’re welcome! Let me know if you have any questions. 👍🏻
Thank u was this schedule 80 2 inch?
Yessir I believe it was.
Thank You Very Much
You’re welcome! 👍🏻
Mine broke yesterday, goggle and saw your video. Well done and thanks. Will order the part and can you send your helper over? Without him I do not think job can be accomplished!
You’re welcome and thanks! 👍🏻
Thank broo
You’re welcome 👍🏻
Thanks bro 😎 I save my self a 159 bucks
You’re welcome
What heat
90amps
I think this technique is what the people who are doing X-ray welding use, I might give it a try 👍🏻
Actually x-ray welding has nothing to do with it. It’s just pretty cool that you can sharpen it with a torch without needing a grinder. We make x-ray welds all the time and very rarely sharpen tungsten with a torch. Thanks for the comment and watching! 👍🏻
12-DEC-2024, I REPAIRED IT MYSELF FRIEND, THANK YOU ❤🙏FROM INDIA BANGALORE. 🙏
Awesome! You’re welcome. 👍🏻
I guess the obvious question we have that you did not address is: "why weld uphill or downhill, why not just flat? Horizontal flat you don't have to worry about gravity, right? what am I missing?
That is very true. The only thing you’re missing is, sometimes you can’t take a piece off to weld on it therefore you have to weld it in whatever position it’s in.
Thank you. Great help! Restored my wife's confidence in me😂😂😂.
😂😂😂 that’s awesome! You’re welcome! 👍🏻
Would I be any different for doing with stainless or generally close to the same
Yes it would. Stainless rods run a lot colder. A 3/32” stainless rod runs about 55- 60 amps. You will hate stainless at first. It is very unforgiving running uphill.
Thanks, got to practice in the field with 1/8 7018 welding 1/4" and the guy showing me gave me several of these tips and i learned a lot
Great! And you’re welcome. 👍🏻
Push your rod. Don't be scared of it sticking. Good video
Would this be any different for a v groove at a 35 degree bevel?
If you have a backing strip it would be very similar, but if it’s just a gap in between it’s a lot more difficult.
Can you make a video for lap joints on 1/4 inch going vertical with 7018? Currently going to school! I know it's a long shot but would really help😭
Man I’ll try to make you a video this weekend if I don’t have to work. I’ll have to see if I have some 1/4” plate. 👍🏻
Man I'm glad I found your video I have no problem with 3/32 but every time I would use 1/8 it would look horrible it would do exactly as you said it would bunch up in the middle. It makes sense to me now. Thanks for sharing I appreciate it! Now I'll know what to do next time 👍
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍🏻
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
When you were using a 3/32 7018 vertical up the machine was set at 100 amps. So the settings and output are way off. It's like these manufacturers just don't care.
Yeah about 90 amps is what I normally run but to be honest as long as you know how to set your machine you’ll know if it need to be turned up or down by how it runs and not by the number. But I definitely understand what you’re saying.
