I love that the halted, metallic tones of the first few bars sound like a chain lift for a roller coaster, with the tension in the chords matching the sense of unease one feels going up one. Then the tempo slows down at the top of the lift, before speeding up and diving into the fanfare and fun. Works brilliantly for the mood of booting up the game.
Wait wait, you're the original author? Awesome! This song and most of your work (I say that because I haven't heard ALL of it) is amazing and you truly capture the essence of a roller coaster ride in this theme right here. Well done.

Man, 4 year old me getting this game out of a cereal box around 2000 was the start of a lifelong love for these two games. I'm 26 now and I still play RCT2!
I remember being in my friend Adam’s basement in 1999 playing this game and instant messaging girls on AOL. This theme song brings me right back to the good old summer days of 1999
I'm so happy Chris picked you to compose for RCT. The game and your music brought me so many happy memories that I hold onto till this day (I mean, here I am actively seeking and listening to this aren't I?). Thanks for giving us such a great and memorable soundtrack for RCT 1 & your tracks in RCT 2.
The change in mood of this song and decision switch midway through from the slow waltz-like anticipation phase of 3/4 section into the catharsis and release of the more energetic 4/4 phase of the song is truly brilliant. Thank you so much for your efforts in making such a great piece and uploading it for us all to relive and enjoy.
23 years ago. I can't believe it when i think about it. It seems like it was like yesterday when you came back from school and just playing your favourite videogame back then. Still playing it regularly today. Thank you Allister for your work.
This song seems to be about overcoming the fear of riding a roller coaster and having a blast when you do. I love it! Also I just started playing this game again today!
Man, where do I even begin. I have this along with Hypothermia and Modern Style, Fantasy Style, Space Style...and could keep going haha. I take great pleasure in showing so many others your wonderful music! And thanks for having an influence on mine!
I realised the other day that this music is (I think) intended to reflect the path of a typical coaster - a slow chugging lift hill, then a transition into fast paced swirling peaks and troughs, before slowing back down again in a brake run. Very clever!
I remember being like 9 years old in a poor family having to pirate this game because we couldn't afford games. I barely spoke a lick of english and the 400MHz processor on the gifted pc we had, had no issues opening this masterpiece. I remember thinking it's a virus at first because this song started so eerie. god I love this. I ended up feeling bad for having had to pirate the game so I bought it twice as I got older. thank you for this gorgeous piece of art, allister
This is awesome. Roman Fanfare is my favourite - I always applied that to my toughest rides: "'Satan's Railroad' looks too intense for me" "I'm not going on 'Executioner' while it's raining" I also love your PC score for Driver ... especially the Los Angeles section
Allister this is amazing, it's such an integral part of my childhood, thank you so much for touching so many hearts out in the world. Could you please upload the Loopy Landscapes extended version too please? Love your work!
I very much would like to know where did the idea for the Deluxe version theme of the game came from, cause man that really is like a refreshment for the soul
Bummer the only recordings you have are 8 bit, but this sounds so clear and clean. Thanks for composing one of the many great soundtracks to my childhood..
0:54-1:03 Strange. I kinda thought the extension you hear once you have the expansion packs installed would be plugged in there too. Yeah, I know this is the original version, but still. I'm used to hearing that extension.
Now that the Deluxe version of RCT1 is the only version that can be acquired legally to the best of my knowledge, it's so strange to hear the original unextended version of its main theme. That's not a bad thing, but it's still strange.
The most correct way to listen to this music is via Harman Kardon HK19.5. People may not be familiar with this model name, but I'm sure that if you know this song, you know that speaker.
you made this and the driver soundtrack? You had such a creative impact on my teenage years. Did you ever use Music 2000, Music 3000 or any of the Jester/Codemasters games to create music? I've made quite a few myself.
Hehe nice. The main organ sound was done on a Korg Z1 physical modelling synth. I can't remember for the other sounds though.. probably various VST instrument plugins.
With all due respect, sir. I think the RCT2 theme is infinitely better than this, but in a good way though. They sound vaguely similar, but the second game's is a lot better. That's just my opinion though

Perhaps 6/8.
Give me a darker version of this, all in minor key. Keep the melancholy going.
