"And since the most avid fan of the series was myself, I should state that I am available to direct this, should Showtime ever change their minds." - Neil Jordan. Please do.
History documents have described Lucrezia as blonde haired and fair complexioned (the original Pre-Raphealite maiden) and there are also a few paintings believed to be of Lucrezia which show her with blonde hair. ...So in this case the casting is dead on.
she is perfeect for lucrezia she is able to deliver an amzaing almost dual personality of lucrezia on one side you have the innocent childlike lucrezia who all she wants to do is help her family in the best way she can; marrige to another powerful family.on the otherside we have the devious woman lucrezia who will help her family as before but will use her wit to destroy those who harm her. Her lucrezia will also ensnare the hearts of men like paolo wheras the other innocent Lucrezia Djem
Lucrezia was a Renaissance Lady in Italy, regardless of her spanish origins on her father's side, he mother was Italian... so it is correct to use the term "Italian Renaissance Lady" when refering to her.
You are thinking very stereotypical now,. Her mother Vannozza was a member of the house of Candia who originated in France, and who's member Simonetta de Candia was one of the most beautiful women in renaissance Italy, posing for several famous paintings f.ex. The Birth of Venus. Lucrezia resembled most women of the family, and her mother, with her blonde locks and fair skin.
just started seeing this and im hooked!! more darker times on season 2! its history and its not like we love the plot it just tells us the time that was...and she is so damn beautiful..and yeah, she and cesare are great actors!!
season 1 hints on the relationship of her and her brother cesare, then her sweet/ innocent, princess self and begins to use her beauty..her head & wit, sexual adventures all for herself and her family..season 2 will be darker and intense! can't wait! jeremy irons is wll.. super great in this one!
@gianina17 I know that they play brother and sister, but this tv-series is based in true events and in real life Lucrezia and Cezare truly loved eachother. Even though they might be brother and sister.
@helenadagreat That's highly debatable. Many historians agree that the Borgias' Italian contemporaries exaggerated their "monstrosity" to slander this family that they saw as outsiders. They were undoubtedly corrupt, but most likely not as bad as their reputation. And screw that "role as the ultimate victim" crap. I prefer women portrayed with some strength, some agency, like The Borgias seems gearing up to do. Lucrezia has a mind of her own, and I'm extremely grateful for that.
Stop judging, you think we don't know how wrong it is in reality? we can't help who we live, or who we ship....*sobbing* sorry I just have uber feels about this.
@MistressArte Well thanks for the history lesson...but I went to school so I know. Cousins marrying cousins are not as controversial as it's still done today in some places but brother and sister is simply disturbing and disgusting.
@PR0H0LDEM i know the creators/director are huge borgia men SYMPATHIZERS thinking that audiences will like to c their human side. But NO the borgias r notorious becuz of their inhumanity! THEY should have exposed their monstrosity more! and focused on lucrezia's role as the ultimate victim!!!!! but no......i'm still gunna watch it tho.
Holliday Granger is an angelic beauty :) (looks and voice)
A great series with a wonderful cast. The history of the Borgia's is indeed interesting and rich.
I love her sweet voice & accent! And how she has so much chemistry with François!
Yeess 😍😍
I fucking love her voice and her accent and basically the way she speaks.

it makes me dizzy!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw she's gorgeous. I think I'm in love with her. (Natalie Portman's still my Number 1, though.)
@MistressArte Well thanks for the history lesson...but I went to school so I know. Cousins marrying cousins are not as controversial as it's still done today in some places but brother and sister is simply disturbing and disgusting.
you know they are sister and brother, right?
so cute
Cesare*
@gianina17 And I'm not promoting incest, but they love eachother anyway. So I just think to let them be.
Meg Bennett! ^^
She looks like Elisha Cuthbert at some angles
@RitaLovesTwilight the dig the idea of incest ? you realize their siblings right?
I can promise you she has no Italian descent. Her grandfather was a Yorkshireman
"close family"....."relate to"
UMMM NO! I CANNOT RELATE TO INCEST IN MY FAMILY HOLIDAY
still luv u as lucrezia tho
@RitaLovesTwilight Ew but they play brother and sister.
