@@scarred10 did you know that Bruneian, Indonesian, and Malaysian fought Dutch and British colonizers with silat. It's proof that westerners cant beat them with bullets.
@@Harrysuke , not 100% true bcause we also have gun and cannon u think we poor huh? if fighter jet exist that time we also can affort it, we lose it bcause bribe
@@scarred10 , its work, silat exist for a long time and its not just for self defence but for killing, to make it work we have to train and experience the fight, if not then its like u have car licence but never drive a car on the street lastly when u try to drive u know what happen accident
Love the instruction, but wish the camera had pulled back to show the feet better. In the vast majority of this particular video we only see the upper body, but without seeing the footwork the context is incomplete.
Great! I'm so happy you mentionned it "reference point" why "traditionnaly" you punch like this in silat? Did you say "the wrong way to punch"? Right lead punch while in reality people right rear punch, with a torque at the waist the shoulder line crossing the feet line why not train from the begining in the situation that occur the most? All traditionnal system like SSBD or Serak/Bukti Negara are beautiful but how to apply those jurus, langka, all the masuk, kinjit, sapu and beset on somebody when you learn everything from a wrong start?
how to apply those jurus, langka, etc...? well first thing you study the art. I can assure you for direct experience that when you understand the principles there is no difference between right, left, front punch or rear, you see only different options ;)
Buddy, you're over thinking the entire process, every movement falls into place naturally, when u get the basis down to a "T" then your body starts to adjust to the movement and accordingly adjust the jurus etc to the situation you're in, indo Malay martial arts are flexible and adaptive by nature and the teaching methodology isn't as rigid as you may think, it allows room for understanding and innovation, which will surface with the years as your body and thought pattern become seasoned with various strategic approaches to most basic of footwork to the most complex of knife work/edge weapons.
This man is a professor at what he does. God bless him . Met him 4 yrs ago. Hope to see again.
The science behind Silat never fails to amaze me, Maul is on another level.

I would never ever fight this guy. Ever.
maybe you should. For increasing your skill. He has a lot of skill dude.
I seriously doubt anyone COULD fight Suffian Maul... What would end up happening would hardly be called a 'fight'.
lol. you don't do closeup when guru maul teach. cause, you can't see his whole body movement which include the legs. :p
Silat is the most effective and dangerous martial art

bang maul kapan ada jadwal ke jakarta?
Why you don't film the foot ?! isn't it no important in martial art ?
Of course it is, but we film as it happens nothing is rehearsed so sometimes we miss some bits.
I understand. Have a beautiful day.
Thank you : ) Have an awesome day too.
