Our local sports club has a room which they allow for free use. It's a £ 90 pound deposit and as long as your guests spend £90 or more at the bar you get your deposit back.

Awesome! Sounds like a good first venue :)

I have been thinking of doing this since I heard you mention this idea a year ago.

    Minimum viable product.
My first annual event saw around 300 people. The turnout was great even though it was only advertised to a specific crowd. Everyone knew everyone pretty much. Sold homemade tickets. Had a free venue. Someone loaned us a big 10k sound system. Had around 10 DJs on the line up. Started at around 7pm, party never stopped till around midday. Including stringing up and tearing down, it was s very long 30+ hours. I never got any photos as my camera decided to stop working.
One of my fellow co-founders swore the event would cost £1,000 or more. I disagreed. I knew in my heart we could do it for next to nothing, and we did - it cost us nothing to throw a fantastic party that was spoken about for montht to come. The venue was awesome and saying it was underground is an understatement. I backed out when the same co-founder, who thought it would cost a bag, decided we should move the event to a £500 venue. To me, it wasn't worth it. I wouldn't have been happy paying for the venue.
I am living proof that everything Phil said is achievable. Once it gets going, the ravers will look forward to the next one (so long as it doesn't clash with other big events)

Wonderful story, thanks for sharing. And well done for raising that ogre of "clashing with big events".

@@digitaldjtips I don't have to tell you, but in so far as reasonably possible, it is wise to select a specific date when nothing else is happening. I've been to a house party afterparty that was a heaving success. The same person decided to throw another house party and only 5 people showed up.
Clashing with significant events can really impact turnout and drive the beginner to lose faith before they have had the chance to sample the buzz of success.

Great tips Phil. Only thing I can't see ever being a case is finding a small venue for free. Nowadays, they will charge you for something like a backyard shed. Nothing is free anymore.

Thanks for watching Michael! Sure, it's going to be tough but start from free and give as little as possible!

How do you fix the problem of virtual dj 2021 not finishing a record ?
What I mean by that it was record and it stop on its own when I didn't press it to stop recording.
