- The sleeve of this denim jacket is designed with two separate pieces. So this sleeve has an inseam and outseam. But the fit is very different than those of a tailored blazer. So we want to make a 2-piece sleeve pattern but the fit is like 1-piece sleeve. In this video, I show you a 1-piece sleeve pattern making first, then add the outseam, so it ends up a 2-piece sleeve pattern.

👩 About me 👩
My name is Jin Kim and I have been a professional pattern maker for over 20 years.
While I had one-on-one teaching besides my full-time work, I could teach only a few people. So, I created a TH-cam channel in 2021 to reach out to more people so that they can get benefits from my experience.
This channel is all about pattern makings. You’re in the right place if you are a young professional or a fashion student who wants to improve your pattern-making skills.

Welcome. I have another question about the sleeve cuff. You drew a rectangle for the cuff outside the original drawing of the sleeve. Then you went back to drawing another rectangle inside the drawing. Is this rectangle the same as the cuff rectangle that you drew separately?
I drew the cuff out side of the original sleeve drawing. And I didn’t draw any rectangles inside of the original drawing. Can you tell me the time where I draw a rectangle the second time?
@@PatternStudio101At minute 6:5. As you also said at this time. The hem on my sleeve goes up to the height of the cuff so this is a new hemline
@@حوراءالكناني-و8ح Base frame has total sleeve length including cuff. From the base frame, I have to go up the cuff height because I made a cuff separately. So that’s a new hem line of the sleeve.
@@PatternStudio101 Thank you very much, I am really grateful to you 🌹I will strive to complete the jacket diligently
I want to know that for cup width I take 8% of total armhole or back armhole measurement for back cup line
hi Jin, i have one small question regarding sleeve ease, can we reduce more then a 1/4" of ease or not?
Hi, sleeve cap ease is not necessary. Especially for drop shoulder, you don’t have to have ease.
i just wondering how to sew that overlap cuff with a lining, is there anyway to sewing it
I don't teach sewing in this channel. But can you explain what "overlap cuff with a lining" means?
@@PatternStudio101 I don't know its exact name, but it's similar to a denim jacket sleeve, but with a layer of lining. Detroit carhartt jacket for an example,It separates and overlaps each other with an lining layer inside. Sorry if I didn't use the right description, I just learned to sew.
@@13luearchive I just googled “Detroit carhartt jacket” but I’m still not clear your question. If you have a lining, you will have the slit on the same position as the self. And make plackets and cuff with linen by together. Is that the answer you’re looking for?
Hello, how are you. I hope you answer my question because I am having difficulty understanding this number. What did you mean by dividing the armhole by 16 in the back and 8 in the front? I do not know what value I should divide it by.
Hi, your total armhole length that you measured from the body pattern to draft sleeve pattern.
@@PatternStudio101Do you mean I have to divide the back armhole by 16? The result is placed on the back line of the biceps muscle. Also, divide the front armhole by 8. Place the result on the line of the front biceps
@@حوراءالكناني-و8ح No total armhole. Back armhole + front armhole
@@PatternStudio101I understood you. We divide the armhole 46/16 to get the first guideline. Then we divide the armhole 46/8 to get the second guideline. Is this correct.
@@حوراءالكناني-و8ح Yes, that's correct!
Gratidão ❤
