  • Return of the mask! Here I complete the mask build by making it wearable. I design an enclosure in Fusion 360 and wire it all up. I've also added two more buttons to enable the brightness and sound sensitivity to be changed. If you want to build something like this yourself, check out my previous video here • Arduino powered LED Ma...
    If you've found this useful and you'd like to support me to create more stuff, you can now buy me a coffee: www.buymeacoffee.com/scottmarley
    The mask runs from an Arduino nano and the LEDs are controlled using the FastLED library.

    Fantastic work. And great video documentation.
    Quick question. What are you planning on using to power it with while wearing at a party? Just some run of the mill USB portable battery? Thanks

      @ScottMarley  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, exactly that. It runs for many hours from a 10,000mAh USB power bank

    Maybe you can try the WLED on this project, you will have amazing effects
    But you need to change the controller to wifi based one

    • @ScottMarley
      @ScottMarley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have thought about that, but I made this so that I could learn how to write my own patterns. Half the fun of this is writing the code ;) I have another project I'm working on where I will use wled though.

    Scott I can't understand why do you remove SS1P3L diode from the NANO, Could the project work without removing it?
    And what do we need to avoid if we do remove this thing? connecting the NANO to an external power like 2 AA battery while is also connected to the usb charger?
    Thank you

    • @ScottMarley
      @ScottMarley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The maximum current rating of the diode is 1A. The way I have it wired up, I've connected the 5V for the LEDs to the 5V Arduino pin which draws power through the diode. The LEDs can easily exceed 1A, which would burn up the diode. If you had a seperate 5V connection for the LEDs, you wouldn't need to do this, but I wanted to keep the wiring as simple as possible. Removing the diode takes 5 seconds with a soldering iron so that was the fastest way to do it. Is there a reason why you don't want to remove it?

      I've uploaded the code to github.com/s-marley/LEDMask. The version in the MaskUpdate folder supports the extra buttons used for changing the brightness of the LEDs.

    What is the ampers that this device receives from the usb port?

    • @ScottMarley
      @ScottMarley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can limit it in the code to whatever you like. I usually run it from a power bank so set a 2A limit

      One of the patterns is sound reactive (the red face). I always meant to add more sound reactive patterns but ended up moving onto other projects.

    Hello, congratulations on the incredible project! I'm sorry if there are any errors, I'm Brazilian and I don't speak English.
    I'm using your code on a much smaller project, just 12 LEDs. To get the effects right, my XY map was 5x5
    const uint8_t XYTable [] = {
    24, 8, 6, 4, 13,
    11, 22, 19, 16, 2,
    10, 21, 18, 15, 1,
    9, 20, 17, 14, 0,
    23, 7, 5, 3, 12
    };
    I believe I have modified all the necessary values in the code, and uncommented the line modeBtn.begin () ;, but I can navigate between the modes only once, then the code locks and turns off all the LEDs. I am new to Aruino and programming, but I am grateful if you can help me.

      Sorry it's taken a while to reply to you, I missed this comment. Could you send me your code? It's tricky to see what's happening without it. Copy the Mask.ino file that you are using to pastebin and link to it here.
