Phillip Ryan was an interesting one. He was one character I never grasped. Funny guy but also socially awkward. The Flick Mellor stuff was bad. He genuinely tried to be nice but ended up stalking her instead. Did everything he could to fit in. Fortunate Bolton and Paul eventually accepted him.
I wonder if he was autistic the same way Karla was, but undiagnosed. Or maybe the writers sort of subconsciously wrote him as autistic coded without even realising they were doing it (which often happens when characters have more subtle neurodivergent traits!)
I really hated how Miss Campbell really stuck the knife into Philip throughout the rest of this series, always making him to be the idiot and be worthless. Couldn't stand her uppity from her return onwards

I find it interesting how even after Mel had been exposed and was sadistic and selfish Eddie still thought that Phillip had no right to insult his mum

And in the new series she is the head of the school
Paul and Bolton played nasty tricks on Philip and bullied him at the start, but I think they're all friends later on.
