As a Chinese, I know your embarrassment. @@brokelaowaiinchina “feelings”,Maybe this word is better。In Chinese, a word often has more meanings,“尴尬”also implies feeling uncomfortable,But in English, its literal translation is embarrassment
What he didn't know is that living in China, you're being treated like king but living in the western world, you "MAY BE" treated like criminals because you're black. Unless you're rich or have enough income, you may find yourself in poverty pretty quickly in the western world because everything is expensive here compare to China. I figure this guy has enough income to feel it is sustainable and that's why he doesn't mind. The reason you feel people are chill and lay back in the western world is because they're mostly isolated minding their own business. Remember, it is all about "me" culture, unlike China, where it is about "we" and cooperation. If you like to be isolated and mind your own business, don't want people to bother you...then western world is for you. You would think that Chinese being quiet are the one that want to mind their own business...but it's quite the opposite. Their lifestyle and city are busting with activities and people moving about. And you think that western world would be the one busting with life, but not so.
@@reptilexcq2 There's real racism too. Black job applicants get rejected even when they're qualified, I think that's one of the reasons he left. There's also a lot of racist comments against black people and mixed-race kids on Chinese social media, much worse than what you see in the west.
He moved to Canada because of the lifestyle which he describes as laid back and calm. Sure, it can be easilty confirmed everywhere. Yeah, very calm, relaxed living in Canada where rent eats up more than half your net income, people are off the charts xenophobic but masquerading as supposedly polite and welcoming (couldn't be further from truth), car insurance is $600/month (because them being supremacist Canadians they think nobody knows how to drive unless they're from Canada), minor car repairs cost $1,000 or more (in China I paid $400 for an amazing e moped that I put on tens of thousands of km and rode it 5 years until I left the country - changed brakes ones for maybe $5-10, don't evem remember cause no expense was issue ever there)... In Canada every expense gives me a mental breakdown - I just can't understand how on earth they can charge sooo much for baaics, necessities, minor stuff... My rent in Canada is 4 times what I paid in Shanghai. My hourly pay in Shanghai was triple what I can make in Toronto with a Master's from the world's most famous, prestigious school in my field (in the US).... I could go on and on. Canada is HELL!
Which province in Canada are you staying in? In Toronto, there are a number of Africans. Some Cameroonians. You'll feel more at home in Canada. For sure housing is much cheaper in China. Locally grown food in China is cheap. Everything in Canada is expensive. Canada is also getting poorer. Some new immigrants got tired of how expensive things are in Canada and left for other countries. Remember that Canada is a USA ally, and the USA is trying to contain China's rise. So Canada is a fairly sinophobic country.
sinophobic? i went to a mixed public school; 1/2 chinese, 1/4 italian and the remaining 1/4 were mixed european. i live and grew up in vancouver and have always lived around chinese pple. we are all canadian ; chinese canadian, italian canadian, dutch canadian, german canadian , vietnamese canadian, ukrainian canadian, mid eastern canadian north african canadian, we are canadians and we all identify to some extent with our lands of origons ( the best characteristics of course lol). many of us grew up with a parent or relative who never learned to speak english or french. there is a saying; immigrant- tied to homeland, 2nd generation -caught between two cultures, 3rd generation totally canadian may or may not have retained first family language etc. every culture brings us something new, from food to fashion to attitudes which over time keep us adapting. imo
Awesome to see such a perspective! And I love how careful you are about being insulting to either country. It’s a challenge! I loved from small town Canada (sloooooow) to Vancouver to Japan and now in a mid-tier city in the US. I found Japan to be very relaxed and comfortable. Sooooo friendly! We were always meeting up for activities and dinners at people’s homes. Vancouver? Yes, but very difficult because everyone works and transportation is simply more difficult. The threshold of effort to leave the home seems MUCH higher in Canada. So we would meet with friends, but much less frequently. Now, America is another matter still. The income inequality is massive here, and immediately apparent. People meet up but not as frequently. Everyone seems willing to talk to you around the neighborhood though.
I moved to Canada after 8 years in China. For those who don't know, a black person in China has very limited opportunities, China has no labor shortage and therefore expects us to be there only for studies and short-term business visits. I am among a few who have been on a work contract in a sector other than basketball and English teaching, but salaries for foreign trade jobs (my case) isn't that high. Black people in China are expected to provide connection to buyers and other markets in Africa, no much more. Canada is not perfect, but black people have much space and job opportunities for those who succeed in their integration. On the other hand, white people in China are expected to offer expertise in areas such as English teaching or technologies depending on their countries or origin, which I think is fair when they're offered premium treatment. In terms of cost, Shanghai wasn't really cheap, don't expect below $1800 for a family apartment in downtown. Choice would depend on your identity (passport), race, single or with a family, etc. Good luck to everyone in your endeavours :))
In fact, life can also be very leisurely in small citys in China. After graduating from college, I chose to return to my hometown's small city and become a doctor. Not much work, relatively decent income, no traffic congestion, and affordable housing prices. I have raised two children, owned a large area of housing and two cars, which are usually difficult to have in big cities. It has been almost twenty years since then. I can drive for two hours to the provincial capital and enjoy the services of a big city.
By the way, even with my whole family, we can travel from my small city to the provincial capital Changsha, a big city with a population of 10 million, in just half an hour by high-speed rail
i will not be retiring here in Canada. i will spend as much time as i can in China during retirement (maybe soon, if i can). Canada is very very expensive. economically, the West will be very tough over the next 2 decades. future is in Asia (China and ASEAN). where are you now, toronto or vancouver?

"Inflation" basically means the middle class has too much savings. You hear everyday on the news with government officials saying "inflation" a dozen times a day which they are basically sending a secret message to the 1% of the wealthy business owners to raise prices because the consumer has too much money in their savings accounts ! As a Chinese, I know your embarrassment. China is almost a country with a single ethnic group (there are ethnic minorities, but they usually live in the northwest, which is far away from the Han people). While the Chinese are polite, they are really conservative. You have different cultures from us, so it is difficult for us to live together without any difference. Wherever you go, I bless you, my friend
@@十四弟少侠 embarrassment? Maybe it’s not the right word to use here.

He moved to Canada because of the lifestyle which he describes as laid back and calm. Sure, it can be easilty confirmed everywhere. One example: two escalators will be replaced at Spadina subway station in Toronto and it is planned that this reno will take 2 years to finish. In Beijing, a huge Dixian airoport was built in 5 years. So yes, living calmly and in a backward and very expensive world, if this is someone's goal, Canada is great.
In fact, small cities in China can also enjoy a quiet and leisurely life, and even have cheaper prices than big cities
@@十四弟少侠 I agree. But quiet and leisurely life in a small city in China does not exclude the process of modernization and adaptation to natural flow of changes which work for people.

Glad your stay in China was a pleasant one. All the best to you in Canada. Welcome back China to visit any time. 🥰
Thank you! Will do!🙏🏽😊
Which province in Canada are you staying in? In Toronto, there are a number of Africans. Some Cameroonians. You'll feel more at home in Canada. For sure housing is much cheaper in China. Locally grown food in China is cheap. Everything in Canada is expensive. Canada is also getting poorer. Some new immigrants got tired of how expensive things are in Canada and left for other countries.
Remember that Canada is a USA ally, and the USA is trying to contain China's rise. So Canada is a fairly sinophobic country.
sinophobic? i went to a mixed public school; 1/2 chinese, 1/4 italian and the remaining 1/4 were mixed european. i live and grew up in vancouver and have always lived around chinese pple. we are all canadian ; chinese canadian, italian canadian, dutch canadian, german canadian , vietnamese canadian, ukrainian canadian, mid eastern canadian north african canadian, we are canadians and we all identify to some extent with our lands of origons ( the best characteristics of course lol). many of us grew up with a parent or relative who never learned to speak english or french. there is a saying; immigrant- tied to homeland, 2nd generation -caught between two cultures, 3rd generation totally canadian may or may not have retained first family language etc. every culture brings us something new, from food to fashion to attitudes which over time keep us adapting. imo

Good luck bro…. Canada is sinking but look at the bright side, you will witness its last glory days…
