Just got me a Jaguar yesterday, (mine broke like 7 years ago, just got a working replacement) and played this for about 4 hours. Great game, one of my favorite Alien based games. The game isn't perfect by any means, but if you look at it as a "survival horror" game, instead of a standard FPS style game, you realize just how good it is. Its two major flaws are #1) the controls are clunky, but you get used to them and its not a huge issue one you learn to adapt your play-style to the controls, #2) The maze like levels can get confusing, making it super easy to get lost. But for its time, the game had/has great atmosphere, one of the first games back in the day that got my heart really pumping. Especially towards the end of the marine campaign, trying to escape the base, in the dark, with all the alarms sounding and emergency lights flashing, trying to make your way through the alien nest before the base explodes.. Great stuff!. He must be playing this on an emulator, the shadows looks all weird.
Much appreciation to the guy who did this one. One thing about playthroughs with multiple characters is that it is hard to find them with all the bases covered. Nice to see this player taking all of this time to get all of them for us.
Oh man. Easily the Jaguar's best game...but that ain't saying much. Still, I was excited as hell to own it as a kid. Graphics were awesome back then. Was especially creepy playing as a marine.
In 1994 this game was way above anything else made..additionally, to date, this is the only game that has ever made me jump out of my chair. You could be wandering around the air vents for hours in complete silence, and then all of a sudden an alien would pop out of know where...screeching and screaming...and scare the crap out of you.
The soundtrack for the opening was creepy. It haunted me as a kid. Everytime I closed my eyes to go to bed I'd hear this music when I first started playing the game. I even missed one day of school because I was up the entire night lol. I literally did jump out of my chair one time. It was quite embarrassing because my uncle and my cousin saw me. I was sitting on a coffee table. I peeked out a corner right at the beginning of the game. Looked to my left. Saw no threat. Looked to my right. Saw no threat. From out of nowhere to my left an alien appeared and squealed. I was not expecting that and I literally had one of the worst jump scares of my entire life. That says alot because i don't scare easily. The only other jump scared that could compare to this is when I played resident evil 7 midnight demo in VR. It was the first time that I played the demo. Man when I encountered a Moulded that fell on me from the ceiling that might have been worse than my AVP jumps scare. It equaled it at worst lol. Man.....

I never owned a Jaguar. I owned a Sega back in the day, and I loved it. But I will admit this game looks pretty cool for its time. Thank you for sharing❤
To all the haters, this was the best CONSOLE fps game back in 1994. Doom was better on PC but PCs were much more expensive and out of reach than they are now. until I got a Jaguar I had only ever played on a Sega mega drive or worse consoles so I remember how good this seemed compared.
If this was a pack in with the Jaguar instead of cybermorph I think the Jaguar could have sold a million units. Which still wouldn’t be enough to save Atari.
In the 90s Alien vs Predator was an innovative game for the Atari Jaguar platform. And although the game is old, but it's still cool. Dark game design, oppressive atmosphere make it one of the scary FPS games. Most of all I liked the abundance of ideas in this game. Playing as a Predator, we can use camouflage for stealth, sneak up on the enemy and quietly kill him, and with each level we could get a new weapon. Playing as an Alien, you can lay eggs in the enemy, and if we die, then we can play as a spare Alien.
To put Jag AvP into perspective. It came out Halloween 1994 which was perfect since it was a horror game. It came out before any home version of Doom. The Alien and Predator movies were still pretty fresh at the time so fans of the movies were greatly drawn to the game. It was 3 games in 1 play as human pred or alien. the environments were massive and seemed to go on forever. the weapons of marine and pred were very cool. very clear voices in the game. great sound effects. scary music. scary atmosphere. huge challenge. it was just fun and great. the only drawback I can see is the movement is a bit slow and choppy with marine and predator. with alien it moves quickly.

@@HouseDracul kind of yes. I always though the toy came from this game. My cousin had unlocked all the game If I remember rightly and there was a level where the floor and walls were lava. I may be wrong ad this is a long time ago now lol
I never understood why this was held in high regards as a technical marvel in Jaguar. Everywhere I heard people saying "If you have seen Doom on Jaguar, you should also see AvP which is better" or something like this is supposed to be the state of the art. But now I see it, I even played it on a Jaguar, and it's just more wolfensteiny style level geometry with less smooth gameplay than Doom on the same console. So, I don't get what this was the fuzz back in the time as the state of the art of the Jaguar, when we also had Doom (which is really a marvel on the Jaguar compared to most other consoles, excluding the lack of music).

This was so good. My cousin had this only got too play it a few times. God I loved it. Am I right in remembering a lava predator?
Like the Kenner toy? I don't recall one from this game.
@@HouseDracul kind of yes. I always though the toy came from this game. My cousin had unlocked all the game If I remember rightly and there was a level where the floor and walls were lava. I may be wrong ad this is a long time ago now lol
@@beardywally I'm far from an expert in Atari AvP, even without years of ring rust. Might could be.
Is it just me, or does it seem he has no idea what he's doing?
I like this play through reminds me of when I played, had to get used to the controls.
What a shame that more games like this weren't made for the Jaguar.
Just watched it. You did fine. People are just jerks in the comment section.
Scary game
This was comparable to early PlayStation games.
best version of avp,pc versions have miss the majesty of lv461.the scenery in this version was great
Urmm the Alien vs Predator game that made in 1999 is excellent game as well
that alien jaw can kill marines by annoying them
one of the hardest FPS ever created, without cheats it was almost impossible to finish it..
I miss this game
wow what a amazing game for its time 1994
Wow. The art direction is totally there, when you arn't looking too closely, this game looks REALLY good. It's a shame the programmers weren't there. Doom was released a year earlier, all these guys could manage was flat rooms on a grid? What?
That was a limitation of the game engine, not effort or ambition of the developers. iD Software created its own engine fo Doom.
@@GozerTheGozerian Rebellion created its own engine for AvP. Most old games were built from the ground up.
Was this on Project Tempest? I downloaded that just to play AvP and was sorely disappointed at these glitches. Still, better than nothing.

Still got this 😎
At 13 I took my tv apart and spicing into the TVs speakers ran rca out to the AUX of my old Pioneer reciever for loud stereo
I'm getting a headache listening to that constant attacking even though there's noone around. Who approved of that?
First ever 64 bit Computer! Had one of these in the mid 90s with this game, Doom and Cybermorph. Wish I had it now as they go for hundreds of pounds!
Geeze, what's with the constant attack even though there's no one around?!?
Taking a break from battling The Ancients and standing around in a bathroom, Mike Dawson plays Alien Versus Predator
Ok es mi juego favorito ALÍEN VS PREDATOR 1994

I don't remember this version i remember the side scroller for SNES! This one actually looks fun though!
the side scrolling arcade one? I loved that game.
@@sickboy9063 No the SNES one isn't a SNES port of the arcade one. It's a totally different game. And left many people disappointed because they got it thinking it's a SNES port of the arcade game only to find out it's a totally different game.
