Dude I love these video game summaries, I know I’ll probably never get the chance or time to play some of these older games so I appreciate being able to have these legendary games’ stories told to me by one of the best storytellers on TH-cam! Thanks :)
You know it's a good story when you can listen/watch an entire video on it and still have that urge to play it for yourself. One of a handful of true classics the likes that we may never see again. This game was made back when the writing painted a sea of canvases in colors of gold and silver. Whereas today so many games are developed less to entice us with words and more to wow us with gameplay elements and the increasingly unappealing need for realism. Some people, like myself, have a way with words. Yet the true masters, such as those who worked on Chrono Trigger, take those words and pull you into worlds that stay with you long after you finish that final, somehow incredibly impactful, sentence. Absolutely stunning. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
I’m honestly surprised no one made this into a legit anime. Like don’t put the story, just let the reputation carry the popularity. We know the story but as an anime I believe this would make for a great series.
The courtroom is easily one of my favourite things in any videogame. It's great how they set it up with the past chancellor saying they needed a stricter justice system 😂
I also love how the court changes based on what you do at the fair for example by talking to Marle before getting the pendant Pierre is able to deny greed as a motive
Idk if you’ll read this but thanks, I’ve been using your videos for my Chrono trigger dnd game. This will help me not have to bounce between the two. Your videos mean a lot to me, seriously they make me stay alive a little longer till the next one and I regularly listen to “Avalon” when I’m down because I find it quite beautiful.
yep this Secrets of Mana , final fantasy 3 , Link to the past , hands down one of the best platforms , PS 1 and 2 did really well to since no one could afford the Neo Geo first time we could get Japanese Jrpgs.

I love these things. I'll never have the patience to actually play games like CT or FF but I love learning about their stories. Also wanna thank you for your outstanding work on the ABCs of death while I'm here. What a great month that was!
No idea what this is but I’m gonna watch the whole thing. Been a fan since 2018-2019. Keep it up. Your content has gotten me through countless boring work shifts.
From what i understand, the two Chrono games have different yet similar themes. Chrono Trigger is about changing a bleak future for the better, while Chrono Cross puts the emphasis on how changing time, no matter the selfless intent and mostly good outcome, has weight that applies pressure on the fabric of time (or, the spirit of the planet, as i prefer to call it). While the first game is about changing time, the second is about resolving the paradoxes resulting from it.
I got this game for my birthday for the Super Nintendo. Included in the box was a catalog of Square items (shirts, posters, and the like). The only item I wanted was soundtrack for Chrono Trigger.
Back in the day, soundtracks for JRPG’s were so hard to find. And even if you managed to order them from Japan, they were incredibly expensive. My sister ended up finding an affordable bootleg copy of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack that was just as good as the real thing. Whoever made it did a great job, even printed ink of the characters onto the actual discs. When it came to finding MP3’s on the Internet, you were far more likely to find MIDI files instead. Now it’s so easy to stream and download soundtracks for even the most obscure titles, in complete lossless format, if you know where to look. I don’t think Japanese imports cost as much anymore either. People growing up today will never know the struggle.
Would love to see this done for Chrono Cross too! I know it’s probably a lot of work for you, and especially after that October work fest you had for yourself. But it’s certainly an enjoyment to revisit these games from my past, thank you so much.
The gameplay is a bit dated, but the story makes this game an absolute titan of the genre. I’ll never forget the moment the princess exploded in front of my eyes….I was genuinely mortified. I could barely even look the NPC guards in the eye out of pure shame and fear. That was the moment I finally realized why this game is so special. It makes you CARE about the imaginary world and the little clumps of pixels that are its characters.
When it was released in the mid 90s, it was the very best RPG on the planet, without question. That the game play is merely "a bit dated" *28 years later* just underlines how revolutionary it was when released.
I actually thought the reverse. The gameplay, mechanics, music and sprite art hold up very well in 2023. While the story at the end ties up nicely, they just introduced too many villains and characters 3/4 into the game
You know. I never thought about it, but Lavos would be the first time I ever encountered an Eldritch Horror. Long before I even knew about Lovecraft and the genre. That's very interesting.
This is the best game ever made. The gameplay is good, the story is good, the music is good, the graphics are great, the pixel art is amazing and I love the colors they used for each zone and time period. This is as close as a perfect game as it gets. 9 o 10 out of 10.
Have I ever played a chronotrigger game? No. Do I even care about the timeline? Not really. Am I gonna watch this entire video at once on my shift? Hell yeah

I remember when I first saw artwork of this games box cover, I wondered why they used the art style of Dragon Ball Z. While I never watched the series played the game, I do love the lore and will have to try both out.
The irony of Lavos' trick was that I killed the true core form first without realizing any of that, and I assumed they had shared hp for the longest time.
It’s funny, I never made the connection before. They went back in time, rescued the queen, and then the king increased the justice system.. which Crono then runs afoul of in the Present.
when this came out i got it literally because of the cover art and good god was i not prepared for what i was about to dive into no walkthrews or anything back then so it was all trial and error and my god till this day i can remember specific parts and challenges i hit and just what a fantastic story and game , right up there with Secrets of Mana , FF2 , 3 and 7 , star oceans and phantasy stars and Dragon warriors .
